2 THE CET ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING Training Delivery The CET s flexible approach to training delivery means that in addition to training being delivered at the College s modern state of the art facilities, some courses may be completed by correspond- Customised Training We are able to customise courses to suit your training needs. Cost: Electrical Trade Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) (Pre Apprenticehsip Electrical UEE 22011) 632 hrs (includes 200 hrs work experience) Full Time Government fees (POA) In addition to essential knowledge and practical skill development the qualification offers applicants with the opportunity of work experience in the electrical trade. Competency plus a selection of Elective Units of Competency relevant to the Electrical Apprenticeship. Cost: Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (Electrical Apprenticeship UEE 30811) Generally, the off-the-job component is completed over three years. Day or Block release Government fees (POA) All units of competency must be successfully completed and the apprentice deemed competent in order to attain a certificate. A WA Unrestricted Electricians Licence is granted upon application and successful completion of the apprenticeship. The essential 66 capabilities identified by ERAC and endorsed by Energy Safety are covered in the qualification. Cost: These training programs have been funded by the Department of Training and Workforce Development Certificate III in Electrical Fitting (Electrical Apprenticeship UEE 33011) Generally, the off-the-job component is completed over three years. Day or Block release Government fees (POA) This qualification provides competencies to manufacture, fit, assemble, erect, operate, test, fault find, alter and repair electrical equipment; and includes electrical wiring work where that work is associated with assembling, maintaining, terminating or altering the wiring between electrical components within plant or machinery. Pre Selection Testing Assessment & Testing We provide aptitude testing for persons wishing to enter an apprenticeship in the electrical trade. The course provides underpinning knowledge of Instrumentation theory, calibration and processes through a webbased training program which is self-paced and supported administratively and technically by the College. The knowledge obtained through the online tuition is then applied in simulated workplace training units within the College in areas such as pressure, level, temperature, flow, transducers and application to analytical instruments. This can be undertaken once the web- Based programs are completed. Competency can be achieved through repeated undertaking of practical projects at the College or through workplace activities. Students should ideally have home broadband internet access. This is a self-paced course with a large percentage of the theory being delivered online at the students pace (it should be noted that online training must be fully completed within 12 months). Once the online component is completed the student can undertake the practical sessions and undergo assessment. Classes in the practical component will typically be run each month. 5 SHORT COURSES POST-TRADE Programmable Logic Controllers Skill Set Course in Programmable Logic Controllers Skills Set - UEENEEI150A & UEENEEI151A UEENEEI150A covers development, installation and testing of programs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) for systems requiring extended control functions. Duration/ Low Voltage Switchboard Rescue The course provides an introduction to basic electrical safety and life support. It examines the principles of working safely in confined spaces, hazard identification, effects of electric shock, first aid and resuscitation for persons suffering from electrocution and rescue techniques using a Low Voltage Switchboard Rescue Kit. 2 evening per week for 5 weeks UEENEEI151A covers development and testing of programs for industrial systems requiring advance control functions using structured logic design techniques and the application of high level instructions. 6 SHORT COURSES Certificate IV in Electrical- Photovoltaic Systems UEE42010 Certificate IV in Electrical-Photovoltaic Systems This nationally recognised qualification provides Electricians with the competencies to install, set up, test, fault find and repair Photo-voltaic Systems in domestic and commercial premises. It contains Units of Competency endorsed by the Clean Energy Council and information regarding the use and application of Interval Metering. 5 days plus 1 evening Non-Subsidised Fee: $3, Work Safely in the Construction Industry CPCCOHSI001A This course is designed to raise safety awareness amongst employers and employees engaged in building and construction work in Australia. 7 SHORT COURSES Senior First Aid Training HLTFA301B Apply First Aid Senior First Aid Training The aim of this course is to develop skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response including life support and management of more complex casualties until the arrival of medical or other assistance. These skills may be applied in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. HLTCPR211A Apply CPR Non-Subsidised Fee: $ Subsidised Fee: $ hours : 1/2 day Basic Workplace First Aid Training HLTFA211A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support Prevention of Electrical Incidents Ideally, this course attempts to eliminate electrical incidents through providing knowledge, raising awareness and introducing safe work practices into the electrical workers daily routine. It also provides a genuine means by which an employer of electrical workers can be assured they are meeting their Duty of Care responsibilities. The training of this course addresses the need to eliminate electrical incidents by providing knowledge, raising awareness and reinforcing the need for safe working practices in the industry. 8 SHORT COURSES Electrical Cords & Plugs Electrical Cords & Plugs Non-Licenced The Cords & Plugs course provides persons with the training, skills and knowledge required to fit low voltage plug tops and assemble extension leads (up to 1000 volts AC). The course is structured to include both theoretical and practical training. The College s training facilities allow for skills to be practiced in a simulated workplace environment.
