The STC credential is a technical certification program for the security industry that covers alarms, access control and CCTV. The initiative provides professional recognition and an industry recognized career pathway for security technicians. Through a combination of self-paced study, face-to-face theory and practical assessments at approved assessment centre's, participants will be required to demonstrate their theory and practical skills. Successful completion of the program offers the potential for conversion into a formal qualification (Certificate II in Technical Security) under the AQTF. The program incorporates two levels of recognition, Certified Security Technician and Advanced Security Technician. The STC program has been designed to be a Bench Mark in electronic security training in Australia. It is also designed to dovetail into the Certificate II in Technical Security. The Certification program comprises of two levels: Level 1 Certified Security Technician 1. Cabling installation practices 2. Intruder Alarm Installation course 3. CCTV Fundamentals 4. Telecommunications transmission pathways for monitoring systems Level 2 Advanced Security Technician 1. IP Networks 2. CCTV advanced 3. Access Control 4. Optical Fibre Structured Cabling 3

Certificate II in Technical Security Units associated with the STC program are recognised as competency based units under the AQTF. The Certificate II in Technical Security CPP20307 incorporates 8 units of competency. The certification program incorporates the following key units associated with this qualification: CPPSEC2021A Install security equipment and systems CPPSEC2026A Perform routine maintenance on security equipment and system CPPSEC2023A Install CCTV equipment and system CPPSEC2020A Provide technical security services to clients To complete the Certificate II in Technical Security, the following units are required: CPPSEC2001A Communicate effectively in the security industry CPPSEC2002A Follow workplace safety procedures in the security industry CPPSEC2003A Work effectively in the security industry The remaining unit is as follows: ICTCBL2136A Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule The above unit is associated with cabling registration which the technician should have as a pre-requisite before enrolling in this program. The technician will need to provide a statement of attainment for this unit. If they no longer have a statement of attainment they will need to provide a copy of their cabling registration as well as complete an on line course in order to receive a new certificate of attainment. All the above units can be completed by contacting Integracom. 7

Upgrade the Optical Fibre and Structured cabling modules With the new changes in ACMA mandatory requirements for technicians installing optical fibre and structured cabling Integracom have incorporated a pathway into the program for technicians to upgrade their certificate of attendance to a Certificate of attainment allowing them to add the endorsements to their existing open registration. We can achieve competency with the following: After the technician has completed the online Optical Fibre and Structured Cabling modules associated with the Advanced Security Technician program they are eligible to attend a three day practical workshop. The workshop incorporates the following practicals: 1. Terminate Category 5 and Category 6 outlets from the outlet to the patch panels 2. Test the links for cable certification compliance 3. Splice optical fibres using a fusion splicer 4. Terminate optical connectors using a field termination crimp kit 5. Test optical links with an OTDR certification tester 6. Test optical links with a light source and power meter. Successful completion of the online modules and the workshop will allow Integracom to issue the following three certificates of attainment (Competencies). 1. ICTCBL3009A Install, terminate and certify structured cabling installation 2. ICTCBL3010A Install and terminate optical fibre cable on customer premises 3. ICTCBL3011A Install and terminate coaxial cable Once achieved, the technician can send a copy of the certificates to their registrar to have the three endorsements added to their cabling registration. All the above units can be completed by contacting Integracom. 8

Course delivery This security training course has been designed to be delivered in the following ways: 1. Self-paced and distance learning using an on line Learning Management System 2. Attendance at a centre to conduct practicals and theory assessments Self paced on line learning (distance learning) Self-paced learning can be used to overcome problems of distance and timing, allowing you greater flexibility to meet a range of demands on your time work, family, etc. Self-paced learning can employ a range of techniques to optimise the effectiveness of learning, including the use of learner guides such as this document, e- learning systems, mentoring and small group work in remote locations. This delivery option will involve you undertaking a portion of the learning at home or in the workplace, by reading through learner guides and viewing the supplementary material provided online. Attendance at a centre for practical assessment Technicians are required to attend a designated training centre to complete the practical assessments associated with the following two courses: 1. Intruder Alarm Installation course 2. CCTV Fundamentals 1. Intruder Alarm Installation course This practical incorporates two alarm systems. The technician will need to fully cable up one system and will be assessed on the following criteria: Assessment 1 - System 1 i. Placement of cables ii. Neatness of cabling looms iii. Integrity of connections iv. Ability to understand resistor configurations v. Powering up and sealing the system vi. Conduct current measurements under power fail conditions vii. Complete documentation and handover to customer Assessment 2 - System 2 Assessment 2 is a fault finding exercise. The technician will be exposed to a wired system that will incorporate a number of faults that will need to be rectifies in order to seal the system. Technician will need to show full competency in both tasks before a certificate will be issued. Technicians can have two (2) attempts within one (1) visit to achieve competency. Additional attempts will be charged for. 9

2. CCTV Fundamentals This practical incorporates 4 cameras, DVR, AIR and a monitor. The technician will need to fully interconnect the system and program the DVR including the alarm inputs for maximum performance. Assessment 1 i. Interconnect the cameras and monitor to the DVR ii. Integrate the AIR into the DVR to change the Frame rate on the DVR upon activation iii. Set up the camera parameters on the DVR for best performance iv. Complete documentation and handover to customer Technician will need to show full competency in this tasks before a certificate will be issued. Technicians can have two (2) attempts within one (1) visit to achieve competency. Additional attempts will be charged for. Attendance at a centre for theory assessment Each unit completed has a theory assessment associated with it. This theory assessment will need to be conducted at one of our designated centres. The assessment is online and will be supervised. The technician will have two attempts to pass the assessment before they are locked out for a 4 week period after which they can attempt it for a third and final time. If the technician is not successful after the third attempt they will need to complete a face to face workshop before a fourth attempt can be made. Completion On successful completion the technician will be awarded a certificate of attainment for the level or levels they have completed. Technicians may also be entitled to receive the following statements of attainments that may be used to CPPSEC2021A Install security equipment and systems CPPSEC2026A Perform routine maintenance on security equipment and system CPPSEC2023A Install CCTV equipment and system CPPSEC2020A Provide technical security services to clients ICTTEN2105A Install and test an internet protocol device in convergence networks For further information please contact us at info@securitytechniciancertification.com.au Or Log onto 10
