1 General Medical Rehabilitation Serving adult patients (18 years and over) who have encountered a rehabilitation condition such as loss of limb, orthopedic injury, stroke, or cardiac/pulmonary/general deconditioning secondary to disease or injury. Our Patients From October 2011 through September 2012 we discharged 611 patients from our General Medical Rehabilitation Program. Some of our program information and outcomes are presented below. It is our privilege to share this information with you. Orthopedic Injury* Stroke Deconditioning /Debility Male Female Average Age *Includes lower extremity limb amputation, lower extremity joint replacement, fracture, and other orthopedic conditions Our Employees The General Rehabilitation Program has a dedicated interdisciplinary team of Physicians, Advanced Level Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Case Managers, and Allied Health Therapistsincluding Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, and Recreational Therapy- collaborating on the appropriate course of treatment for each individual patient. Our therapy staff has a combined average of 10 years or more of experience. Many of our employees hold certifications in addition to their professional training and degrees including 2 Speech Pathologists in VitalStim, 1 Occupational Therapist in Physical Agent Modalities, 1 Occupational Therapist in Assistive Technology, and 4 Certified Rehabilitation Nurses (CRRN). Our Outcomes We measure the amount of improvement the persons we serve make in activities of daily living, the number of days on average the persons are in our programs, and the percent who return home.

Length of Stay Vidant Southeastern Region Nation We compare our average length of stay with other rehabilitation programs in the region and nation.

5 1 Stroke 1 Debility 75% of patients with other stroke and of those with debility returned to the community. Patient Satisfaction Eighty-five percent (85%) of our patients discharged between October 1, 2011 and September 30, 2012 rated us a 9 or 10 on a 10-point scale for overall satisfaction with our program and their rehabilitation experience. We also received high marks for the following: -Courtesy and respect of our therapists at ninety-one percent (91%) -Therapists listening closely to the patients needs at eighty-seven percent (87%) What do our patients say about the General Medical Rehabilitation Program? The therapists were very patient and talked to me about what was going to happen. I learned to trust the therapists and loved them like they were my own children. They were very informative about the types of treatment I needed to receive I appreciated their positive attitude and motivation!
