3 1. Executive Summary This report provides the test results found to date for the CudaTel Communication Server with XO SIP Trunking evaluation. The following is a summary addressed the issues and limitation found while performing the test. SIP REFER method is not supported. Remote-party-Id header is used to convey original PSTN caller ID in call transfer scenarios. Hunt group is not supported by IPPBx. Outbound caller ID block is not supported. Fax was not tested, and will not be supported in the XO Network. XO doesn t support comfort noise. 2. Registration Method Static registration is utilized between the CudaTel Communication Server and the XO call agent. 2

5 5. Test Configurations 5.1. Lab Configuration The following diagram is the configuration used during lab testing. Note: Above lab setup only shows main lab network elements. 4

6 6. Test Bed Configuration Files CudaTel Communication Server basic Configuration for XO lab Configuring your CudaTel communication server to work with a XO Communications SIP trunk is very simple. Follow the steps below. Contact Barracuda Technical Support if you have any questions. Getting Started: Be sure that you have the necessary information from XO Communications From XO Communications you will need: 1. User name As XO uses static registration. User name can be one of XO DID (for example pilot number). 2. Host IP address or domain name This is XO SIP Trunk IP. 3. Any DID numbers assigned to your SIP trunk Log in to the CudaTel user interface and navigate to the Providers page. Select SIP Providers and then click the New SIP Account link. A new page will appear. Make the changes listed below. Provider/Type: Select XO Communications from the drop-down list Name: XO Communications SIP Trunk (or some other value that is meaningful to you) Host: Put in the IP address or domain name supplied by XO Communications Realm: Same as host Username: Put in the user name supplied by XO Communications Auth. Username: same as username Password: leave blank Registration: check this box and set the interval to 3600 seconds Services: If you wish to send faxes over this connection the check Faxes (do not check Enable T.38 Reinvite ) (Fax was not tested). Caller ID Number: Select Use a customer caller ID number unless overridden 5

7 Outgoing Music on Hold: Select the preferred music on hold for outbound calls Restrict Codecs to: Click the drop-down list and select G.711 ulaw Inbound Registration: leave unchecked Click Create Gateway The gateway will now appear in the list of SIP providers Outbound Routing: Outbound calls may be routed out the XO Communications trunk by assigning outbound routes. In the CudaTel interface navigate to Providers > Call Routing. Click Add a routing entry and then select a call type. The most common call types you will assign are: 1. NANPA NANPA refers to the traditional North American phone numbers in the United States and Canada. 2. Emergency (USA) Add this route if your XO Communications trunk will be servicing 911 phone calls. NOTE: be sure to contact XO Communications tech support to make sure that your account is properly configured for 911 phone calls! 3. International Dialing (011) Add this route if you wish to allow international calling on your XO Communications SIP trunk 4. 7-digit Dialing (Area Code xyz) Add this route if you would like your users to be able to dial 7-digit phone numbers. NOTE: You will need to assign a default area code to your CudaTel. See Configuration > Phones in the CudaTel interface. Once your routing entries have been added you may attempt to make outbound calls. Inbound Routing: Inbound calls may be routed once your DID numbers have been added to the gateway. Click on the XO Communications entry in the list of SIP providers, and scroll down to External Numbers. Enter in each DID number, one per line. If you have a contiguous block of DID phone numbers then you may enter the starting number and the ending number with a dash in between. Click Add Numbers. The phone numbers may now be added to extensions on the system. The simplest way to test a DID number is to assign it to an existing user. In the CudaTel interface navigate to Extensions > People and select a user who has a phone. Scroll down to Secondary Numbers and Extensions and click the drop-down list under Add Number. Select External Number and you will see a new drop-down list appear. Select one of the XO Communications DID numbers from the list. The DID is now assigned to this user. Dial the DID number from a different phone (a mobile phone is good for this test). See the following page for a screen shot that illustrates a configured XO Communications SIP trunk. 6
