Need to gain substantial relevant work experience (often as a volunteer) whilst studying for your first degree, to progress to MSc in Psychology (unless highly experienced) and a PhD year s training. Health Psychologist a MSc in Health Psychology and relevant work experience including volunteering Forensic Psychologist MSc Forensic Psychology and relevant internships, volunteering and work experience
7 Summary of Career Options in Psychology 2 Counselling Psychologist (MSc in Counselling Psychology + volunteering/internships). A Professional Doctorate is also available. Or Counsellor (Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling + volunteering/internships Occupational/Organisational/Business Psychologists a MSc in Occupational/Organisational Psychology is needed + business work experience / internships, possibly including volunteering. 8 Other Career Possibilities Only 20% of psychology grads go into Psychology as a career. Many enter health or care related jobs. e.g. Graduate Mental Health Worker, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nurse, Counsellor. Some need postgraduate study.
