3 Program At A Glance The McGill Executive Leadership Experience (MELE) is a ten-day program which advances the competitiveness of senior-level executives by challenging them with new insights, high energy learning exercises, company and CEO visits, best practices/ tools as well as one-on-one advising before and after the residential program at historic McGill University in downtown Montreal. It develops well-rounded, value-added thinkers and decision-makers, revolving around you and your role as a Leader of People & Organizational Change Strategic Thinker & Big Data Analyzer Value Creator, Innovator & Growth Seeker Starting on Tuesday, September 27 th and ending on Thursday, October 6 th - with a day off on Sunday, October 2 nd - each session focuses on the acquisition of key leadership disciplines and mindsets relating to your business context. Projects tackle real issues, friendly consulting gives you experienced advice from fellow participants, and a quality faculty team, accompanied by high-profile guest speakers and company visits will all help guide the development of your leadership agenda back in your organization. The program fee includes accommodations at the prestigious five-star Sofitel Hotel, breakfast, lunch and some dinners, as well as one-on-one coaching before and after the onsite learning for increased relevance and impact. 8 The Faculty Louis Gialloreto - Senior Executive Program Director Professor of Marketing, Executive Director of the McGill Executive Institute and member of the EMBA faculty. He is a consultant to several multinational corporations in the areas of advanced management practices, marketing strategy, customer service and competitive analysis. In addition to his academic role, he has over 25 years of corporate experience in industries such as airlines, financial services, retail and management consultancy. Recipient of the Best Teacher Award (MBA) and McGill s Graduate Management Distinguished Teaching Award. Professor Gialloreto received both an MBA and Masters in Law from McGill University. Henry Mintzberg - Leadership Professor Henry Mintzberg is considered by many academics and business leaders to be the world s premiere authority on management. The recipient of the 2014 CK Prahalad Distinguished Scholar-Practitioner Award, he writes prolifically on the topics of management and business strategy, with more than 160 articles, 15 books and 100,000 citations on Google Scholar to his name. His seminal book, The Rise and Fall of Strategic Planning, is organized around the idea that to change someone it is first necessary to unfreeze his or her basic beliefs, then refreeze around the new ones. Before joining the McGill faculty, Henry Mintzberg received his Ph.D. in management from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1968, and a Bachelors of English from McGill University. Margaret Graham - Innovation Dr. Margaret Graham is a professor of strategy and organization at McGill University and received her PhD from Harvard University. She is Faculty Director of the McGill Innovation Consortium and is a leading authority in the area of managing innovation. She worked with Boston University as both a professor and Faculty Dean, and has deep industry experience as an executive at Xerox PARC in Palo Alto, CA. Author of the book Corning and the Craft of Innovation, Dr. Graham has been a member of the faculty at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and the Boston University School of Management. While at B.U. as Professor, Operations Management and Management of Technology, she served as Associate Dean and Dean of the Faculty. Omar Toulan - Growth and Value Professor Toulan joined McGill in His areas of teaching include international business and strategic management. Following completion of his PhD at the Sloan School of Management at MIT in 1997, he spent a year in the faculty of the Stockholm School of Economics. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Toulan worked as a management consultant for McKinsey and Company in its New York office, as well as at its Global Institute in Washington, D.C. He has also worked as a researcher at the US President's Council of Economic Advisers. 9 The Faculty Estelle Métayer - Competitive Effectiveness Estelle Métayer is an expert in Competitive and Strategic Intelligence. Her research focuses on how managers, CEOs, and board members build and improve their strategic planning and/or competitive intelligence function to avoid strategic blindspots. She is a reputed public speaker in international conferences (such as Davos in 2012) and facilitates strategic workshops around the world. She also introduced Competitive Intelligence into the McGill-Rotman School of Business s certification program for Canadian board directors, and into the new HEC-McGill Executive MBA. Estelle is also a guest lecturer in programs led or co-led by IMD (Lausanne), the IMB (India), INSEAD (France) or MIT (United States). Corey Phelps - Strategy Corey Phelps is an award-winning teacher, researcher and Professor of Strategy at McGill. He completed his Ph.D. at the Stern School of Business, New York University. As a former faculty member at HEC Paris, he taught in the MBA, EMBA and executive education programs in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Professor Phelps received the 2012 Pierre Vernimmen BNP Paribas Award for the best teaching at HEC. At UW he received undergraduate and MBA professor of the year awards and was a finalist for the University s Distinguished Teaching Award. Jerry Remillard - Leadership and Change Jerry Remillard has been a faculty member of the McGill Executive Institute since 2005 and brings over 25 years of experience in strategic management, team dynamics and coaching. He conducts numerous senior executive forums and coaching initiatives for major corporate, government and non-profit organizations. His wealth of corporate hands-on experience adds to his popularity as a seminar leader, he served as Director of Strategic Planning at Kraft Foods and has played key roles in other major corporations. He holds a Masters In Business Administration (MBA), McGill University. 10 Program Details and Application The McGill Executive Leadership Experience (MELE) is a ten-day program which advances the competitiveness of senior-level executives by challenging them with new insights, high energy learning exercises, company and CEO visits, best practices/tools as well as one-on-one advising before and after the residential program at historic McGill University in downtown Montreal. ELIGIBILITY FOR THE MELE The McGill Executive Leadership Experience admissions policy seeks to build strong positive learning environments within which program participants can flourish. We seek to achieve a balance of skill sets and learning experiences that create impact for program participants while allowing shared individual and group learning opportunities. As such- eligibility for program acceptance requires the following qualifications: 1) Participants are drawn from the C-suite, Board Executives, Vice Presidents, and Managing Director levels with at least years of people and overall general management experience. 2) A demonstrable interest in engaging in executive learning with a view of how this type of program can assist you in your learning and career objectives. REQUIRED FROM APPLICANT Candidates are encouraged to submit a completed application to the Admissions Committee as early as possible. Please send the following to the McGill Executive Institute: 1) Completed Application Form 2) Current Resume that shows both your academic and professional experience PROGRAM COST AND MELE CANCELLATION POLICY The program fee is CAD $19,500 + applicable taxes. The cost includes program tuition, all instructional materials, breakfast, lunches and dinners on six evenings (delegates will have four free evenings) as well as overnight accommodations at the 5-Star Hotel Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile adjacent to the McGill campus in downtown Montreal. Cancellation requests must be received by at least 30 days prior to the seminar start date for a full refund. Cancellations within 30 days will be charged 25% of the program fee. If a participant gives no notice prior to the seminar start date and/or fails to show up, the full fee will be forfeited as of the first day of the program.
