1 National Indicators Florida State and Regional Data The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action has established a dashboard of indicators to measure the success in progress toward the Institute of Medicine recommendations. These are graphic representations of measurable goals that the campaign has selected to evaluate our efforts. The Florida Center for Nursing (FCN) is able to provide these benchmark indicators for the state and, in some cases, eight geographic regions. Results are based on nurse supply data analysis for the registered nurse population completed on a biennial basis in concert with nurse license renewal cycles. As of December 2011 the Center estimated that there were 140,620 employed RNs in the State. Analysis of this cohort allows us to present Florida s current indicators as baseline results. Updated indicators will be published allowing for clear determination of success in moving toward the desired goals. FLORIDA BASELINE INDICATORS (as of December 2011) INDICATOR 1: Percentage of employed nurses with a baccalaureate in nursing or higher degree.
