3 Creative Brief Project Summary The subtitle of this site suggests its basic premise. The work, in particular the process, of this French neo-impressionist painter ( ), is explained by examining four major works spanning his career; each through both an early sketch, and the final result. Design Summary The site is dominated on its home page by Seurat s most significant work, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte ( ). It employs design elements that are an extension of both the color scheme of the aforementioned work (in particular, a menu column of sky/lakeside blue #9999CC, burnt orange #CC6633, lawn green #999933, violet #663366, and brick red #993333), as well as the pointillist style of rendering that is most identified with the artist. Also used is a headline font, Berliner Grotesk, that is evocative of the kiosk posters of the time and region. Audience Profile The viewer is a student or general art enthusiast, seeking a broad overview of the development of the pointillist style, in particular its evolution from the influence of earlier impressionist painters, and the overall effect of its application.
