The homestand begins with a 3-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs tonight at 7:05 pm, tomorrow at 7:05 pm, and Thursday at 11:05 am. That will be followed by a 3-game series vs. Indianapolis (the first time the Sox will face an IL West opponent this season) as the Sox will host the Indians on Friday at 7:05 pm, Saturday at 6:05 pm, and Sunday at 6:05 pm with fireworks to follow the Sunday night Memorial Day eve game. For one of the rare occasions in recent times, the PawSox will not play at home on Memorial Day as they will fly to Gwinnett, Georgia on Monday to open a 7-game southern sojourn to Gwinnett and Norfolk (May 30 June 5). ERod Back Boston Red Sox LHP Eduardo Rodriguez will begin his second rehab stint with the PawSox tonight. Eduardo originally was sent to Pawtucket on a 30-day injury rehab assignment on April 28. He made four starts for the PawSox during that rehab going 0-3 with a 4.29 ERA. He was recalled to Boston on May 17 but remained on the Red Sox disabled list with recurring right knee soreness. Rodriguez was placed on Boston s disabled list on April 3 with a right knee patella subluxation suffered when his spike got caught in the grass while shagging fly balls on February 29 in Fort Myers, FL. Rodriguez, who turned 23 on April 7, began last season with the PawSox going 4-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 8 starts. He was recalled to Boston on May 28 and made his Major League debut that night in Texas firing 7.2 innings of shutout ball to beat the Rangers. In 21 starts for Boston last season (as a 22-year-old) Eduardo went 10-6 with a 3.85 ERA. He was honored as the Red Sox Pitcher of the Year and the Red Sox Rookie of the Year by the Boston Baseball Writers. Eddie was acquired by the Red Sox at the 2014 trade deadline on July 31 from the Baltimore organization (Double-A Bowie) for LHP Andrew Miller. Close But No Cigar - Pawtucket most recently lost 3 of 4 in Buffalo last weekend and their last two defeats both came in walk-off fashion as the Bisons scored the tie-breaking run in the bottom of the 9 th -inning on Friday (6-5) and Sunday (2-1). The PawSox have now suffered 5 walk-off losses this season compared to 2 walk-off wins. Furthermore, 11 of the 12 Pawtucket defeats in May have come by either 1-run (6 times) or 2 runs (5 times). Their other loss was a 6-0 setback at Scranton on May 9. Close Encounters More than half of Pawtucket s 44 games this season (26 of 44 in fact) have been decided by either 1-run (6-8) or 2-runs (4-8). Ups and Downs The PawSox have lost 3 of their last 4 games that after they had won 4 of their previous 5 games from May 14 (G2) to May 18. Before that they dropped 5 of 7 from May 7 (G2) to May 14 (G1). Last but not Least - The Sox have been alone in last-place for three of the past four days - for the first time since April 14. Pawtucket has already spent time in 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd, 4 th, 5 th and 6 th -places thus far this season. Getting to Know You - This marks the fourth series between these two rivals already this season. Pawtucket won back-to-back games on May 10 & 11 in Scranton/WB but lost on May 12. They won two in a row on May 14 (G2) & 15 vs. Gwinnett but lost on May 16 to Norfolk. And again the Sox posted two straight wins on May 17 & 18 vs. Norfolk but on May 19 in Buffalo they could not make it 3 consecutive wins for only the second time this season as they dropped a 7-5 decision to the Bisons. They need a win tonight to avoid dipping to 3-games below.500 again. North Face - Pawtucket began the season by playing their first 34 games against their IL North division rivals (going in those), but during their last homestand they faced the IL South and went 4-2 taking 2 of 3 from the Gwinnett Braves and the Norfolk Tides of the South.
