2 WELCOME! In this document we welcome you to the world of fantasy sports, brought to you by YFSBook a digital companion for the new fantasy sports enthusiast. The YFSBook Project seeks to develop a series of mobile applications for Google s Android operating system and Apple s ios that will serve as companions to fantasy sports a platformneutral tool to track players, teams, games, and fantasy points. Herein you will find the details for the first of this series the YFSBook Baseball Edition. BRIEF The YFSBook Baseball Edition project will be executed to create an application for Android handset devices designed for fantasy sports enthusiasts. It will allowed for tracking of the progress of their favorite players in live Major League Baseball (MLB) games and view upcoming matchups so they can make plans to maximize the points earned. PROJECT SUMMARY The YFSBook Baseball Edition project began as a mean to deliver the latest news and updates on MLB games, players, and leaguerelated news. What has begun as a method to deliver news has transformed over time to focus on the burgeoning field of fantasy sports. YFSBook will allow for users to draft their fantasy team from a comprehensive database of all active players and allow them to access playerrelevant information and fantasy points gain for each player on their team. It is our hope that YFSBook Baseball Edition will eventually inspire confidence for the project to expand to offer Editions for other sports where fantasy sports are popular, including American football, football (soccer), and basketball.

3 TARGET AUDIENCE Our target audience is primarily the fantasy baseball enthusiast, who plays in a fantasy league such as those featured on ESPN.com, FanDuel. com, or CBSSports.com. The growing market and demographics playing fantasy sports deserves an application that will enhance their experience to both watch the sports they love and participate in their fantasy leagues, while remaining platformindependent in regards to which website their league is registered on. In addition, part of our audience may not have a vested interest in fantasy sports per se, but wish to track the performance of their favorite sports stars and the games they will be playing in. The information delivered with YFSBook will approach both audiences as viable markets, for their interests in statistics and games overlap. MARET ANALYSIS Several applications factor into our competition in some form or another. Fantasy Baseball Apps: ESPN and Yahoo! Sports both run Fantasy Baseball applications. The Yahoo! Sports one is perhaps closest to YFSBook, with access to score updates, leagues, teams, and player stats. Both applications are tied explicitly with their proprietary fantasy league systems. Score Apps: TheScore and MLB At Bat both feature applications for live updates on games. The MLB At Bat application focuses heavily on playbyplay updates and video and audio streaming. TheScore, a free app, focuses on Vegas betting lines and is intended as a betting tool. ANDROID SOLUTION By delivering on the Android platform the YFSBook project can reach a wide number of mobile handsets following the Android design guidelines. Density independing pixels (DP) used in the Android development environment means that what is designed for one device will be applicable for use in designing for that handset s resolution and screen s dots per inch (dpi) specifications. 4 ART STYLE YFSBook takes its inspiration from old vintage sports posters and sports packaging. In particular, baseball card packaging, college football posters, European travel/racing posters, and the classic block letter logos of baseball teams. For the Baseball Edition, we took great inspiration from the classic use of baseball score cards when creating our live game lookin screens. Baseball fans who often play fantasy sports have often gravitated to the old style of scorecard keeping, with an added element of nostalgia fueling this development. A classic box score is also included to help translate the score card for easily accessible information. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY The design of the YFSBook screens is based around several guidelines. We have adhered closely to the navigation style and guidelines set forth in the Android Developers Design guide, relying on their SD s Fixed Tabs top navigation system. The architecture of the screens is designed with the back and up buttons in mind, with all functionality up to date with Android 4. in mind. For pleasing aesthetic and layout design, we have utilized golden ratio spiral systems and the 9 Grid System as detailed by Nathan Smith. As this is a design and user experience proposal, we hope to move into a development/production phase next, with the application written for Android handsets before moving into an Android tablet layout for 4. and later. Following this, ios options can be considered. The YFSBook Project also has longterm goals of expanding into other popular sports such as football(soccer), American football, and basketball. American football, with a heavy emphasis on the National Football League (NFL) games and fantasy leagues.

GAMES OVERVIEW INDIVIDUAL GAME UPCOMING All game matchups for the day for MLB are presented. The user can preview the team s record and click on each game to view upcoming and ongoing matches. The application previews the upcoming baseball match, with teams, weather outlook, lineups, and news, with collapsable accordions to limit screen real estate. The Vegas line is presented, and YFSBook allows the user to set a specified alarm to the Android system at the game s first pitch time if the user wants to be informed when to watch.

INDIVIDUAL GAME IN PROGRESS PLAYER PROFILE Using the score card imagery, the player can select either team s lineup and follow along with their own card, updated in realtime by YFSBook as players make their atbats. Tapping on a player s name will bring up their Player Profile. Each player s statistics and relevant news in regards to the player are taken from available APIs, such as ESPN s developer databases. A user may review the player s recent activity and current statistics, and add him to his Diamond on the Team screen by tapping the star button. 7

The pitcher icon on the diamond will be able to bring up a popup, showing all pitcher slots available. If a position is not filled (on this screen, center field), the user will be taken to the player lists to view available players for that position. All available players for a given position are listed when a player requires a position player from his Team screen. Tapping on any entry will take the user to the Player Profile. 8
