Can use many type of protocols to connect to various external entities To mobile network trough Signaling Interface Unit (SIU) Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) External Machine Interface (EMI/UCP) or CIMD of Nokia Open Interface Specification (OIS) Can use either TCP/IP protocol as a carrier 10

Receives SMS messages from the BearerBoxB via its TCP connection; Parses each of them in order to extract keywords and parameters from it; And then executes a service according to which keyword the message contains; Listens to SMS messages via HTTP and converts them into true SMS format. 16
