NIELSEN, PhD, MPH ANDREW ALLISON, PhD Deputy Director SCOTT BRUNNER Chief Financial Officer Provider Advisory Council Biographies Susan Bumsted, Wichita Associate Breakthrough of Sedgwick County K. Allen Greiner, M.D., M.P.H., Kansas City Associate Professor and Interim Director of Research Dept. of Family Medicine, KU Medical Center K. Allen Greiner, MD, MPH is currently associate professor of Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Public Health, and History and Philosophy of Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC). He is a practicing family physician and Medical Officer for the Kansas City, Kansas, Wyandotte County Unified Government Health Department. He directs the Rural Primary Care Practice and Research Program and linked Kansas Physicians Engaged in Prevention Research (KPEPR) Network. This practice-based research network serves as an important research laboratory for preventive health studies in the state of Kansas. He has received a KU Kemper Fellowship Award for Teaching Excellence and is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Health Disparities Scholar. He is a past recipient of a KU Medical Center Research Institute, Mentored Clinician Research Grant and he is a Class Fellow in the Grant Generating Project funded by the American Academy of Family Practice. He was previously awarded an American Cancer Society Career Development Award for Primary Care Clinicians to study colorectal cancer screening. He completed medical school and a Family Medicine residency at the University of Kansas Medical center, Kansas City. In 2000, he completed a Primary Care Research Fellowship at the University of Kansas and a Masters of Public Health degree. His research interests include the social determinants of health, health disparities, primary care health promotion, and colorectal cancer control. He has received federal and foundation grant support to study health information technology and patient health risk behavior and obesity in rural primary care practice. Dr. Greiner spends approximately 30% time providing primary care clinical services to a diverse urban population. He sits on the Board of Directors for two Kansas City, KS safety-net clinics and serves on the Wyandotte County Community Health Council. He also spends a significant portion of his time teaching residents and medical students. He was awarded the 2001 Student Voice Award for teaching excellence at the University of Kansas. He is one of two primary physician advisors to the Jaydoc Free Clinic Project, a student run health care clinic for the uninsured. Dr. Greiner s future plans include pursuit of funding for his research in cancer control and prevention, health behaviors related to obesity and cardiovascular disease, and the social determinants of health for underserved populations. Mahoney, Parsons President/CEO Labette Health William Mahoney has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Labette Health located in Parsons, Kansas since July of He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Wamego Hospital for six years prior to his move to Parsons. Mr. Mahoney holds a Bachelors Degree in Health Management from the University of Illinois and a Masters Degree in Health Administration from the University of Missouri. He received meritorious accommodations while serving in the United States Marine Corp. Mr. Mahoney and his wife Tammy have seven daughters and one son. Dr. Bert Oettmeier, Jr., Leawood Dentist Randy Peterson, Wichita Senior Vice President, Regional Operations Via Christi Health System As Senior Vice President, Regional Operations, Randy Peterson serves as the primary interface between Via Christi Health System and the System s hospitals outside of Wichita. He oversees the development, measurement and integration of the hospitals goals and objectives in a manner that continually links them with system initiatives. Randy manages the CEOs of Mercy Regional Health Center, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center, serves as the primary interface with Salina Regional Health Center and will manage the CEOs of any facilities that may be acquired outside of Wichita in the future. Randy also serves as the Via Christi Health System representative on the boards of directors of Mercy Regional Health Center, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center and Wamego Hospital Association. Randy joined Asbury-Salina Regional Medical Center in 1986, becoming Assistant Administrator then Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer through 1995 when Asbury-Salina merged with St. John s Regional Health Center to become Salina Regional Health Center. After beginning as Senior Vice President, Randy quickly became Chief Operating Officer then President and CEO in Under his leadership, SRHC received national recognition for employee satisfaction from the Jackson Organization and has been recognized by Solucient as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in Performance Improvement. Randy began his healthcare career in physical therapy at Pemiscot County Medical Center in Hayti, Missouri. Randy is a Certified Healthcare Executive and Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a past board member of VHA Mid-America and is past chairman of the Kansas Hospital Association. He received his Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and a Master s in Health Science Administration from Wichita State University. Elaine Schwartz, Topeka Kansas Public Health Association, KPHA represents approximately 600 members of health professionals, public health agency staff, academic staff, private businesses and corporations interested in promoting health. Elaine has been the Executive Director the past 3 years. Prior KPHA, she worked at the Kansas Department on Aging from as Director of Information and Community Resources. From 1995 to 2000 she worked at SRS supervising Mental Health Community Residential Programs for older adults and the Medicaid long term care programs including Nursing Facilities; Waivers, and Adult Protective Services. From 1986 to 1994 Elaine served in the Kansas House of Representatives, representing Osage and Lyon counties. During her eight years in the legislature, she was a licensed insurance agent and VP of Heartland Health Systems. For 14 years, before that, she was a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Page 3 of 5

Prior to getting my nursing home administrators license I was employed as the HCBS-FE Program Manager at Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging. During my employment with Jayhawk I also worked closely with the Kansas Association of the Area Agency's on Aging (K4A) and the Kansas Department on Aging. Peter Stern, Topeka Kansas Independent Pharmacy Service Corporation Peter Stern is the of Kansas Independent Pharmacy Service Corporation (KPSC), a position he has held since He is responsible for directing all KPSC programs and initiatives. In leading KPSC, he brings extensive experience to pharmacies, health care purchasers and policy makers on a variety of pharmacy and health care issues, including Medicare Part D, medication therapy management, pharmacy management/operations, pharmacy benefits/claims processing, pharmaceutical distribution and health care reform. KPSC has, under his direction, provided programs for the state to help community mental health center patients and low income Kansans receive affordable access to needed medications. Previous to coming to KPSC, he worked as part of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation multi-year grant program known as Community Programs For Affordable Health Care through Stormont-Vail HealthCare. Mr. Stern received a B.A. in Psychology with honors from Northwestern University and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Kansas. Anthony Wellever, Topeka Interim Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved Anthony Wellever is the Interim for the Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved. Previously he was a vice president at the Kansas Health Institute. He has also served as deputy director of the University of Minnesota s Rural Health Research Center and as senior vice president of the Montana Hospital Association. In the past twenty years, Wellever has conducted research under grants and contracts with several federal agencies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Health Resources and Services Administration. Dr. Janet M. Williams, Overland Park President Communityworks inc Dr. Janet M. Williams has worked with people with brain injuries and other disabilities since She started communityworks in 1992 to assist people in Kansas to live, work and play in the community. Dr. Williams has traveled to Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany on a fellowship to study the healthcare system for people with disabilities. Additionally she has been to India with the US Department of education to look at systems of care for people with disabilities. She is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Department at The University of Kansas Medical Center. Her areas of interest include health care policy, disability research and systems change. Page 4 of 5
5 Linda Wright, RN, MPA, Olathe Director Johnson County Area Agency on Aging Linda Wright is Director of the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging where she oversees community-based programs and services that support older adults and their family caregivers. Linda s career includes working in home health, hospital and community care systems with a special focus on geriatrics, caregiver issues and Alzheimer s disease. She formerly worked at the Center on Aging, University of Kansas Medical Center where she participated in grant-funded geriatric research, published in peer reviewed journals and served as a member of the Center s geriatric diagnostic team. She has served as reviewer for professional journals including the Journals of Gerontology. She is currently a member of the editorial board for the Center for Disease Control journal, Preventing Chronic Disease: Public Health Research, Practice and Policy. Linda was a founding member of the Heartland Chapter of the Alzheimer s Association. She served as member of the Board of Directors of the National Alzheimer s Association, Chicago, Illinois and was Vice Chairman of the Board during her tenure. Linda is adjunct faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and has taught multiple continuing education courses for the University of Kansas. Linda is educated in nursing with geriatric specialty. She holds a degree in health care administration and a master s degree in public administration (MPA) from the University of Kansas. Page 5 of 5
