4 HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL In response to the increasing needs for the advancement of knowledge in the province, Holy Angel University opened the Graduate School in The first program offered was the Master of Arts in Education. The program was granted government recognition on October 30, In 1993, Master of Arts in Education major in College Teaching, Master of Arts in Education major in English Teaching, and Master of Business Management were offered. These were followed by the offering of Master of Arts major in Library Science, Master of Arts major in Mathematics, and Master in Public Administration in In the SY , the University offered Doctor of Philosophy in Management major in Business Management, Educational Management, and Public Management. On October 27, 2003, the Commission on Higher Education conferred the Autonomous Status to Holy Angel University which formalized the recognition of the programs, namely: Master in Engineering Program major in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering, Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management, Doctor of Business Management, and Master of Arts in Nursing. Aside from offering academic programs, the Graduate School takes an active role in organizing and facilitating seminars and training for academic institutions, industry and government agencies. The Graduate School Publication was created to serve as an avenue for the expression of opinions and ideas of the faculty and students. In the SY , Master of Science in Accountancy was offered to develop practitioners of accounting related functions with a high level of theoretical knowledge on advanced accounting and research principles. Master of Science in Engineering Management was also offered for managers in the engineering field to expose them to engineering and business aspects of technology. Furthermore, the school year marked the opening of Master in Public Administration Government Elected Officials and Extension Programs. Two local government units became its learning centers, namely Angeles City Local Government and Capas Local Government. During the same school year, the research activities of the University have been housed in the Graduate School under the leadership of the Dean, Dr. Arlyn S. Villanueva. With her are the Program Coordinators, representing each College, who are deputized to coordinate all research activities. Likewise, the programs of the Graduate School adopted the modular system of class scheduling. In June 2006, the Commission on Higher Education, thru the Higher Education Development Project Faculty Development Program (HEDP-FDP), recognized the University with its Master in Engineering Program as one of the Higher Education Institutions delivering engineering programs in the Philippines. The Master of Business Management and Master in Educational Management majors in Guidance and Counseling, Library Science and Science Teaching programs had undergone accreditation on September 1 and 2, 2006 conducted by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) in the areas of Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, Research, Students, Library, Administration and Other Resources. MASTER OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (42 units) The Master of Business Management program is designed for practitioners and executives of both private and public institutions as well as individuals who intend to enhance their knowledge and skills in the practical applications of management theories, research and quantitative methods of managing business. 7 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT ( 54 units) The Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management program is designed to develop trained, research-oriented, and developmentconscious top level educational managers. The program helps educational institutions in their human resource development programs and provides opportunities for school administrators to enrich their leadership capabilities skills, and knowledge of educational management, thus becoming more responsive to the challenges of socially transforming education. MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHING ENGLISH ( 42 units) The Master of Arts in Teaching English is designed to equip English teachers on foundation of language education, approaches and techniques on teaching English, curriculum design and materials preparation. MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS ( 42 units) The Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics is designed to develop pedagogical skills for teaching mathematics and to create meaningful connections between subject matter and teaching methods through practice and reflection of the effects on student learning. MASTER OF ARTS MAJOR IN EDUCATION MANAGEMENT ( 42 UNITS) The Master of Arts Major in Education Management is designed for practicing school administrators who wish to improve their skills in administration and gain a wider understanding of the processes of school management within the context of a developing society. The students are trained to develop practical solutions in the workplace, critical analysis, synthesis, and innovation. MASTER OF ENGINEERING PROGRAM ( 42 units) The Master of Engineering Program with majors in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering is a general, practiceoriented graduate program designed to meet the needs of engineering profession in academe, industry and other related institutions. The program seeks to enhance the capabilities of the faculty member or the inexperienced engineer by strengthening their comprehension of engineering problems and updating them on the recent advances in engineering technology. 10 Program Description DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN NURSING EDUCATION ( 63 units) The PhD in Nursing Education prepares master s level nurses to contribute to the development of leadership in nursing education, scholarship in teaching, and research in the discipline. The program is committed to meeting the growing need for doctorally-prepared nurse educators and to advancing the field of nursing through doctoral research. MASTER OF SCIENCE IN NURSING ( 42 units) The Master of Science in Nursing is designed to train professional nurses for advanced practice in nursing either as clinical nurse specialists in adult nursing, nurse managers, adult nurse practitioners, family nurse practitioners or psychiatric nurse practitioners. MASTER OF ARTS IN NURSING ( 42 units) The Master of Arts in Nursing is designed to advance the science of nursing through the preparation of nurses who will be future leaders of nursing service and education. The program prepares nurses who will do research, provide quality nursing in both clinical and community setting and provide leadership in the education of future nurses. MASTER OF SCIENCE IN HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION ( 42 units) The Master of Science in Health Services Administration program is designed for working professionals who aspire to assume leadership positions in the health industry. The University seeks to prepare individuals for clinical and administrative leadership positions in the delivery of health services in the private, public and non-profit sectors of the country. The program would provide the necessary skills for health professionals to handle health care administrative tasks in the conduct of their duties. Applicants for the MS in Accounting must be an accounting graduate and a CPA. 12 Additional Admission Requirements for International Applicants Scholastic records duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Post located in the student s country of origin or legal residence. Duly notarized letter of request from the applicant; Duly notarized General Application Form accomplished by the applicant (BI Form No. MCL-07-01); Original copy of the Notice of Acceptance (NOA) containing a clear impression of the school s official dry seal or a duly notarized written endorsement from the school for the conversion of the applicant s status signed by the school s Registrar; Original copy of Medical Certificate issued by the Bureau of Quarantine and International Health Surveillance or a government medical institution with competence to certify that the applicant is not afflicted with any dangerous, contagious or loathsome disease and is mentally fit; Plain photocopy of applicant s passport bio-page, latest admission and authorized stay; National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Clearance; and Bureau of Immigration (BI) Clearance Certificate. 13 Faculty We maintain a strongly motivated and highly qualified faculty members who are experts in their corresponding fields and proficient in interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches in teaching. Their competencies is enhanced by engaging in research works, thus contributing new knowledge which they share in their regular participation in local and international conferences. Biag, RN Doctor of Education in Educational Management Tarlac State University Holy Angel University Graduate School follows a trimestral calendar in a modular schedule. Modular schedule is a five-consecutive Saturday session, seven and a half hours per Saturday. First trimester begins in June and ends in September; second trimester begins in October and ends in January and third trimester begins in February and ends in May. 14 Facilities Holy Angel University has created an environment conducive to learning with state-of-the-art facilities, progressive instruction technologies, ample up-to-date reference materials, and world-class services by a complement of highly skilled and trained staff. The library supports the curricular offerings of the Graduate School by providing academic library resources and services through continuous development, enrichment, upgrading and maintenance of books and non-book materials. The collections consist of theses and dissertations, rare books, non-print materials and journals for the Graduate students and faculty members. Our on-line library resources include databases(gale Cengage and Books 24/7). Internet facilities is provided to link the university to the world. In addition, the HAU Intranet is installed as a tool for sharing of information and computing resources between academics, non-academics and students of the university. A Computer laboratory is equipped with HP flat monitors, AMD Athlon cloned units and statistical softwares for the exclusive use of the graduate students. Graduate School classes, lectures and seminars are held in amphitheatre-type caserooms, at the Dean Angustias N. Sicangco Hall, FDV Hall, St. Martha Hall, and Audio Visual Rooms. 15 Research The University works in both institutional and academic researches under the direction of the Institutional Planning, Research and Publications Office. Institutional research includes: academic-industry matching, demand-supply studies, benchmarking and comparative studies, demographic and socioeconomic profiling studies, evaluation studies on institutional systems and procedures. On the other hand, academic research encompasses two areas namely, traditional or theoretical research, disciplined-based research. Worldwide Networks The Graduate School is in partnership with various universities and organizations in the world such the University of North Dakota( US), HELP University College( Malaysia), School of Renewable Energy Technology( Thailand), the South East Asia-Germany (SEAG) Alumni Network, Namseoul University( South Korea), Renewables Academy( Germany), Georg-August University Goettingen( Germany), University of Kassel( Germany) and Nanyang Technological University( Singapore). Our faculty members are involved in research activities that include conceptualizing, coordinating and implementing institutional researches and research undertakings under the University Research Incentive Program. 16 Support Services The Campus Ministry provides three(3) programs for our students namely : Program On Liturgy which manifests the Catholic character of Holy Angel University. The activities done by the community are towards integrating faith and practice, Program on Formation which strengthens the spiritual mindset of the whole University community thru activities designed to help attain the University s mission of co-creating a quality experience and environment that promote Christ centered values, and holy guardian angel Program on Apostolate which is designed to co- create experiences and an environment that promotes leadership and social responsibility. Through the apostolate program, the goal of developing the whole person of HAU students and personnel in the service of man for the greater glory of God is achieved. 17 fact sheet holy angel university campus Holy Angel University is a private Catholic university located in Angeles City in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. Founded in 1933, it is considered the first Catholic school in the country that was founded by the laity (instead of the diocese or a religious congregation) as well as the first Catholic high school that was co-educational (instead of exclusively for boys or exclusively for girls). Sitting on a seven-hectare campus in the city s prime estate, Holy Angel is one of the region s largest universities. Its over 16,000 student population this school year also makes it one of the biggest schools in Central Luzon, if not the biggest. This year, the government once again recognized Holy Angel as among the country s top universities in terms of academic excellence when the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) renewed the Autonomous Status it first bestowed on it five years ago. This recognition came on the heels of the acquisition of an international accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) the only school in the Philippines and the Far East to have done so. Holy Angel University also has a Level III accredited status from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) for its Accountancy, Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Engineering programs, as well as Level I accredited status for its Hospitality Management program and Level I accredited status for its high school.
