1 Notice of Comment Period Topic: Transportation Improvement Program Amendments Period: April 6, 2009 through April 17, 2009 Comment Period: The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) announces a comment period for proposed changes to the NYMTC Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The ten day public comment period will begin on April 6, 2009 and end on April 17, Details on the changes will be posted by the start of the comment period on the NYMTC website at The proposed changes impact all three of NYMTC s sub-regions: Lower Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island. The proposed changes include additional projects proposed for funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of Transportation projects funded with Federal monies are required to be on NYMTC s TIP. This comment period gives the public the opportunity to provide feedback to NYMTC on the proposed changes to the NYMTC TIP. Background: The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) is a regional council of governments and transportation providers that serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for New York City, Long Island and the lower Hudson Valley. In order to be more responsive to transportation planning needs at the local level, NYMTC is comprised of three Transportation Coordinating Committees (TCCs). The Mid-Hudson South TCC covers Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties; the Nassau/Suffolk TCC covers Nassau and Suffolk counties; and the New York City TCC covers the five boroughs of New York City.
