2011 Data Taking Schedule, Trends and Procedure

1 Online Group Mtg August 24, 2011 In attendance: Linda Coney, Antony Wilson, Henry Nebrensky, Mike Courthold, Chris Rogers, Stefania, Chris Tunnell, Craig Macwaters, Simon Fayer (holiday), David Colling (holiday), Yordan Karadzhov (holiday) - Discussion on Online Group preparation for Fall 2011 Data-Taking. See slides on website. Have a list of what we need to do in order to be prepared to run smoothly this fall. Have estimated dates of completion need to confirm with Yordan and Simon on the DAQ and OS/Backups. Group prefers to schedule run time for December. Online Group also requests test beam time in advance of running by few weeks would allow testing of DAQ, Online Monitoring, Online Reco, Data Mover and Config DB interface. - Related Need: Chris R. and Chris T. need to work one-on-one w/yordan for 1 week in order to get MAUS prototype for Nov/Dec (if only get 1 week, make it other than software workshop) - Patch panel being installed in Online Reco rack to service all network needs for the racks in that row. Next Meeting Wednesday September 7 Future Meetings: **every other Wednesday at 15:00 RAL time** Short Term Actions: 6a) Need list of computers with owner, access info (username/passwd), function, hardware involved, network connections: CM, PMH, LC 6b) Keypass file for passwords? o Test passwords in Pierrick s file to make sure all correct: PMH,PH all C&M machines work, DAQ list out of date, will update o ongoing 7) Recruit Daresbury Lab representative to Online Group (C&M): David o need Adrian Oates and Brian Martlew on the mailing list o Brian now on list still need Adrian o No update 11) Find two computers & set up to mimic DAQ machine and C&M machine for OS upgrade procedure: Simon Fayer o Need list of tests that want to do to prove updates are ok o Update from Simon: The test machines are installed with CentOS5.4 and are waiting to be moved to which-ever rack they should be in. They also need their IP addresses setting in the process. I've set these machines up with snapshots so it should be easy to test upgrades multiple times without fully re-installing them if needed.

If yes when happens how big stray field and how bad for equipment may need another area later
