1 Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service Information Leaflet Shining a light on the future
2 Introduction The Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service offers advice and support for people with a mental illness or learning difficulty who are involved in the criminal justice system. What does the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service do? You will be seen by a Mental Health Practitioner. The service liaises with other professionals who are involved with you and can provide an assessment of your mental health or learning disability needs whilst in custody. We also provide advice to Criminal Justice System staff. Staff can also arrange for you to access mental health or learning disability services and can provide you with information about other services. Sharing Information Your information will be kept confidential as far as possible. However, information will be shared with other professional services if risks to yourself or others, including children, are identified. Your GP may be informed of your meeting with the team. Referrals You can make a referral to the team by calling giving your name and contact details and a member of the team will contact you. What if I have a comment, suggestion, compliment or complaint about the service? If you want to make a comment, suggestion, compliment or complaint you can: talk to the people directly involved in your care ask a member of staff for a feedback form, or complete on the Trust website (click on the Contact Us tab) telephone the Complaints Department Tel: Further information For information about our Trust Services, or general information on conditions and treatments and organisations offering support, please see our website 2
