1 Family members and significant others affected by the drug or alcohol use of another person Having a member of your family, a relative or friend with problematic drug or alcohol use can be very distressing. Family members and significant others can suffer a wide range of negative consequences such as anxiety and depression, financial worries and concerns about the wellbeing and safety of the person using drugs or alcohol. The stigma of addiction and dependency can lead to family members and significant others feel isolated which in turn can make accessing help feel difficult. Drug and alcohol services in Leeds recognise the impact of drug and alcohol misuse on families and significant others, and also recognise the importance of families and significant others in supporting the person using drugs or alcohol. Leeds drug and alcohol services can provide you with information on the treatment options available to the person who is using, as well as giving you an understanding of how an individual can access treatment if they want to reduce or stop their drug or alcohol use.
