2 What is MarPark MarPark is an innovative mooring system, based on electronic and not invasive buoys, studied for a sustainable use of best marine areas. Bookable via internet or call center, MarPark is able to either recognize customer automatically and activate requested services or, in case of unauthorized use, to send an alarm message. 3 Environmental Safeguard The Problem Anchors are the primary cause of damage to the seabed and in particular to the Posidonia, a species of sea grass protected by international treaties, that acts like forests on land for biodiversity, coastal erosion protection and oxygenation. Marine areas and seabed without Posidonia must also be protected from excessive crowding of boats, responsible of pollution and safety problems. 7 MarPark for ships (Cala di Volpe SafeBay Costa Smeralda) MarPark is designed for boats until 100 mt. long, under condition of maximum 40 knots wind speed. In order to guarantee safety and comfort, within MarPark buoy fields: Boat speed limit is 3 knots, Ships in motion are not allowed to approac h those ones in mooring.
