Requirements 1.1 Hardware The Synthes International Mobile App is exclusively developed for devices running with ios 4 and higher: iphone (3GS and 4) ipad (1 and 2) ipod Touch 1.2 Software The App Synthes International is only available in the Apple App Store. To purchase, download and install any Apps you have to be signed into the App Store on the device you would like to install any apps. itunes is not mandatory to purchase, download and install the app Synthes International. 3/15

4 2. Do I have an Apple ID? Is my device signed into the Apple App Store? To purchase, download and install any App on your ios device it is mandatory to be singed in to the Apple App Store with your personal Apple ID. Once you are singed in you may purchase, download and install any apps straight away from the Apple App Store. Please check in advance whether: You have already an Apple ID and your device is singed in to the Apple App Store, then move on to chapter -> 3. How do I install the Synthes International app? You have an Apple ID but your device is not signed in to the Apple App Store, then continue the installation process by chapter -> 5. How do I sign in to the App Store? You do not have an Apple ID nor is your device signed in to the Apple App Store. Start by chapter -> 4. How do I get an Apple ID Although the Mobile App Synthes International is free of charge, you have to have an Apple ID and your device must be signed in. Data transfers costs may occur if you are connected to the Internet via your GSM or 3G mobile network. To optimize the data transfer costs it is recommended to be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. 4/15

5 3. How do I install the Synthes International app? Please make sure you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi before you start to download or update any Apps on your device. Download via your GSM or 3G mobile network may be costly, due to data transmission fees and roaming cost. 1 Tap on the App Store Icon in the home screen of your device. Your local Apple App Store will be loaded. 2 Browse or search for the application you would like to install (Synthes International). Find the Synthes International app by using the search functionality. 3 You will find the search box in the upper right corner of your screen. Just enter the key word Synthes and tap Search. 5/15

6 To find the Synthes International App you may also use the filter search provided by the App Store: The app Synthes International can also be found by Category: Medical and Price: Free 4 Select the appropriate App in the search results You will now see the product description of the Synthes International app. 5 Tap on the Free button just below the icon. The Free button flips and a green box saying Install App appears. Tap on the green box. 6/15

7 Congratulations. Your app will be installed on your device. You have to update the content of your Synthes International app at least once a week. For updating the content please make sure you are connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. 7/15

8 4. How do I get an Apple ID? To install any apps on an ios device (iphone, ipad, ipod Touch) you have to use the Apple App Store and been signed in with your personal Apple ID. The App Store is installed by default on your device. Please make sure you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi before you start to download or update any Apps on your device. (Settings -> General -> Network) Download via your GSM or 3G mobile network may be costly, because of data transmission fees and roaming cost. 1 Tap on the App Store Icon in the home screen of your device. Your local Apple App Store will be loaded. 2 The Apple App store opens up. The App Store is your starting point for purchasing, download and install any available app. 3 Scroll to the bottom of the App Store and tap on Sign In 8/15

9 4 To get an Apple ID tap on Create New Apple ID. Select you local country App Store Tap on the displayed country. 2. Choose the country you are in, or look for the region, which is closed to you. 3. Swipe your finger up and down to scroll the listed countries. To continue tap the Next button at the end of the notification screen. 6 You will now be prompted with the terms and conditions for the Apple App Store. Read the terms and conditions carefully. If you agree tap the Agree button. 9/15

10 Fill in the following dialog with all the requested information. 7 Address: Will be your unique identification key Password: Upper and lower case required. Verify: Re-enter your password Question Answer Day, Month, Year: Your Birthday Newsletter subscriptions When all data have been entered tap Next. Please be aware of that the address will be verified at the later in process to create your Apple ID. The address you have chosen will be your unique identification name for the Apple ID. Please choose your address carefully. Once you verify your address, you may not change it again. 8 Credit Card Information: Chose the credit card company you are doing business with. If you would like to download only free Apps please select None. The Synthes International app is free of charge. Therefore you may download the App by tapping None. 10/15

11 Credit Card Information: To purchase, download and install only apps labeled with FREE, credit card information are not needed. In this case please tape on NONE. See: Apple Support Page: In this step you have to enter your personal data. 9 The fields in red are mandatory. Tap Next to continue the registration process. 10 Your address will be verified. Do not tap the Done button until you confirm your address. X It is recommended to open the verification sent out by Apple s App Store in any other device then the one you are creating your Apple ID. If you are not using the latest version of the ios 4 or higher you may have to start your registration process from scratch. 11/15

12 11 Go to your mailbox and open the sent to you by Apple. 12 Click on the verification link in the . Your default Internet Browser will open and take your directly to the Apple website. 13 Enter your Apple ID ( address) and your password in the web browser. 14 If your address has been verified you will a success screen will be displayed. Do not click on the Return to the Store button. XXXX 12/15

13 15 After having verified your address, you may return to your mobile device. Tap on the Done button. Congratulations! You successfully created your own Apple ID. To purchase the Synthes International app you have to sign in to the App Store first. To do so, please proceed in the manual to the next chapter. 13/15

14 5. How do I sign in to the App Store? Although the Mobile App Synthes International is free of charge, you have to sign in to the Apple App Store. Once you are signed in you may purchase, download and install any free of charge applications, such as Synthes International. Please make sure you know your Apple ID name ( address) and your Apple ID password. Please make sure you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi before you start to download or update any Apps on your device. (Settings -> General -> Network) Download via your GSM or 3G mobile network may be costly, due to data transmission fees and roaming cost. 1 Tap on the App Store Icon in the home screen of your device. Your local Apple App Store will be loaded. 2 Browse or search for the application you would like to install (Synthes International). 3 Scroll to the bottom of the App Store and tap on Sign In 14/15

15 4 Tap on Use Existing Apple ID to sign in to the Apple App Store 5 Enter your Apple ID name ( address) and your password and tap OK. Congratulation! You are now signed in the Apple App Store. To purchase the mobile app Synthes International you have to download the app from the Apple App Store. Please go to chapter -> 6. How do I install the app Synthes International? 15/15
