2 Thank You for Your Service Greetings, One of the highlights of my job as Mayor is visiting with our employees, learning more about you and your families, and hearing how much pride you have in serving the citizens of Orange County. You are my heroes and a constant source of inspiration. Our employees are on the front lines interacting with the thousands of citizens, businesses and tourists in Central Florida. Today we are recognizing some of our most dedicated employees those who are celebrating more than 20 years of service to Orange County Government. I m honored to stand alongside you as a public servant. I want to acknowledge and thank you for the outstanding work that you do for Orange County and our citizens. I am proud to serve our community with you, and recognize that your passion and work ethic has a direct impact on our wonderful quality of life and helps to make our region one of the best places in the world to live, learn, work and raise a family. 4 Juan G. Camacho Fleet Management, 20 years Administrative Services Juan was born in Lares, Puerto Rico. He studied Automotive Repair at Lincoln Technical Institute and participated in the Automotive Educational Program at Mid Florida Tech. He started his Orange County career in 1995 as an Equipment Mechanic III for Fleet Management. Juan has been the team lead for approximately eight years. Currently, he has a team of five people and he trains all new hires that join his team. He is responsible for the final inspections of the vehicles his team services. Juan is currently engaged to Teresa. He has two children: Angelica, 30 and Jennifer, 28. He has a granddaughter: Naomi, 2. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, boxing, and weight training. Evelyn Beyers Housing & Community Development, 20 years Community, Environmental, and Development Services Evelyn graduated from Maynard Evans High School. She attended Florida A & M University in Tallahassee. She graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Women s Studies. Currently, she is pursuing a Master s Degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University. She is a Certified Occupancy Specialist. She was hired in 1995 as a Medical Clerk at Orange County Corrections. She also worked in the Comptroller s Office as an Accounting Specialist and in Housing and Community Development as an Accounting Clerk. Currently, she is a Housing Assistant in the Housing and Community Development Division. She is married to Martin and has two sons Raymond, Brandon and one Step-daughter; Arinana. She has five grandchildren; Brandee, Branisha, Brandon, Jr., Bryan and La Raya. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, shop and spend time with her husband. 4
5 Mitchell L. Glasser Housing & Community Development, 25 years Community, Environmental, and Development Services Mitchell was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University and a Master s degree in City and Regional Planning from Ohio State University. He started his Orange County Career in 1990 as a Senior Planning Development Assistant in the Housing and Community Development Division (HCD). He was also an Affordable Housing Officer in the Office of Affordable Housing. He was selected to manage the Office of Affordable Housing. He was promoted in 1994 to Assistant Manager of HCD and appointed manager in Mitchell has many accomplishments including graduating from Leadership Orlando, serving on the Workforce Housing Task Force, appointment to the Board of Directors of the National Association of County Community and Economic Development. He has been married to Tamara for 14 years and has two children: Sarah, 12 and Joshua, 9. In his spare time, he is an avid tennis player and he enjoys biking with his children. His hobbies include taking his kids to soccer, music, Sunday school, cooking and sharing all these things with his wife. Michael P. Heller Parks & Recreation, 35 years Community, Environmental, and Development Services Michael was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Colonial High School. He was hired by Orange County in 1980 as a Park Maintenance man at Lake Cane Marsha Park now known as Shadow Bay. He worked at Downey Park for about four months. Currently, Michael is a Senior Park Specialist at Fort Christmas Historical Park. He has worked at Christmas Historical Park since Michael completed the Supervisory Development Program in Upon completion, he assisted Human Resources in the redesign of the core skills portion of the Supervisory Development program. He is a volunteer cook for the Community, Environmental, and Development Services United Way Fundraiser. He has two children: Samantha, 25 and Sean, 20. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, riding motorcycles, and cooking. 5
6 Barbara Fredette Haynie Community Corrections, 20 years Corrections Barbara was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. She graduated from Seminole High School. She earned an Associate of Science Degree from St. Petersburg Junior College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. She is Crisis Intervention Certified and a graduate of the Frontline Command Leadership Program. After a five month internship, she was hired in 1995 as a Community Corrections Officer in the Probation Department. Barbara has served her entire career in the Community Corrections Division; Probation & Community Surveillance. In 2000, she was promoted to a Sr. Community Corrections Officer. She briefly transitioned to the role of Quality Assurance Officer. In 2014, she was promoted to Unit Supervisor in the Probation Unit. Barbara received the 1997 O.R.A.N.G.E. award. She has been married to Christopher for 21 years. They have twin boys: Gabriel and Mason. In her spare time, she enjoys camping and fundraising with Boy Scouts of America, kayaking, gardening and maintaining and restoring her 131 year old home. Charles Edward Davis, Jr. Security Operations, 25 years Corrections Charles was born in Sanford, Florida. He went through the Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Crossover at Seminole State College, the Criminal Justice Correction Academy at Lake County Vo Tech earning a Criminal Justice Certification. He is currently attending Kaplan University working on a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. He started with Corrections in 1990 after six months of employment he was called to serve in the gulf war. In 1992, he was hired as a Corrections Officer. Charles has received many awards including the American Jail Association 2007 Officer of the Year award, Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency 2014 Distinguished Service award. He is a Certified Correction Officer, General Instructor and Defense Instructor. In 1994, he was selected to the Honor Guard. In 1995, Officer Davis started working with juveniles which is one of his passions. He retired from the military after 34 years of honorable service. He has been married for 17 years to Princess. He has four children: Jermaine, Travo, Desmond and Mikera. In his spare time, he is on a cycling team, mentors youth, coaches youth football and basketball. 6
7 Marlene L. Baker Inmate Administration, 30 years Corrections Marlene was born in Alamo, Georgia. She graduated from West Orange High School. She also attended Orlando Vocational College and earned a Certificate in Computer Programming. She was hired by the Orange County Sheriff s Office in 1985, as a clerk typist, in the old Central Booking Facility. In 1988, she completed the Corrections Academy and became a certified Corrections Officer. Marlene was selected Crisis Intervention Team Officer of the Year in In 2009, she was featured on a segment of Nightline, documenting a Day in the Life of a Corrections Officer. In 2010, she was promoted to the Classifications Section as a Classification Officer. She is married to Louis III and they have six children, Louis IV, Tambra, Marvin, Tracey, Samantha, and Prescious. Tracey graduated as a Registered Nurse, and Prescious a Corrections Officer will continue the legacy her father and mother began. Samantha is working on her degree as an attorney. They also have 22 grandchildren and two god sons. She enjoys spending time with her family, puzzles, being involved in church, swimming, sewing and singing. Lisa Ann Jones Head Start, 20 years Family Services Lisa was born in Orlando, Florida. Her father was in the United States Air Force so she traveled a lot before settling in Florida in She earned a Bachelor s Degree in Psychology from Columbia College and a Master s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University. She started her Orange County Career as a bus driver in She later transferred to the Education Department as a Teacher Aide, promoted to teacher assistant and to teacher. Lisa received her Child Development Associate credential, Director s credential, completed the Department of Children and Families 45 hour training, amongst many other certificates in her many years of teaching. Lisa has been married to Alfred for 21 years and they have four children: Ebony 32, Trayon 30, Krystal, 28, and Dayshia, 22. They also have a granddaughter Anila, 6 and a 1 year old Shorkie. 7
8 Maureen N. Roberson Head Start, 20 years Family Services Maureen was born in Orlando, Florida. She received her diploma from Oak Ridge High School. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Valencia College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University. She was hired by Head Start in 1995 as a Casual Laborer to work at different locations throughout Orange County. She has since been promoted to a Teacher s position and is now located at the Orlando Tech Head Start site. Maureen has been married to Terrance for 30 years, and they have three sons and two daughters: Antoine,30; Terrance, Jr.,25; Terrell, 21; LaQuesha,28; and Loena,15. Maureen is involved with her church where she holds the leader position of the Nursery Ministry and is the treasurer of the Daughters of Eve Ministry. In her spare time, she enjoys learning the American Sign Language in which she plans to use as part of her Church Ministry and spending time with her three grandchildren: DahQuan-8, DahQuayla-7, and Terrance III-4. 8
