Outline/List of activities: Solve configuration problems of SPDCB in crate 6 (again TRIGPGA blocked). The only problem of configuration I saw in the week. Record about 120 k cosmics events. One lesson from the previous week is that if we want (and we do!) to get a large number of cosmics, we have to record them ourselves, outside the global activity. 15 Hz. Quite pure. Runs 2764 (18k) and (108k). PRS HV at some point of the calibration runs dropped from 750 V to 400 V (3 boards out of 5). SPD HV were stable (around 600 V). Overcurrent Channel 7 of PRS: overcurrent is seen also when there is no HV. S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 1
Pedestal runs: are using calibration signals. It happened that t LEDTSB C-side was configured (independantly of my wishes) to deliver signal to LEDs. They actually gave light saturating the electronics (HV = 750 V). Three messages: We d like the LEDTSB configured on demand and not spontaneously. Is LEDTSB A-side cabled? I computed a mean current of few na Ain the worst case so the concern expressed in my related does not stand anymore. Side observations: Very uniform response of the PRS SPD has holes most likely related to the internal time-alignment (Carlos shall send to me in the next days the results of his calculations.) S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 2
Trigger Path: We recorded runs w/ SPD multiplicity larger than 5 as unique trigger. We saw fantastic tracks in SPD and PRS with a rate of few per ten minutes as well as showers (the main part of the statistics). We did our best to get ready w/ PRS TRIGPGA configuration on A-side before Patrick s vacations. Was achieved on Friday s morning. Too late. Yet, we are ready to perform the commissioning of the SPD/PRS trigger path in the beginning of August. S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 3
COMMISSIONING MEETING JULY 2008 W5 TRIGGER : A-side is fully configured!! Updating ECAL input phase values has required to test cable one by one : long process 24 February 2008 status BCID values not taken into account PRS4 22 July 2008 status BCID values taken into account Final DAQ configuration Problem : PRS5 has no allowed phase range for ECAL inputs (not observed on February 2008) S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 4 PRS4
COMMISSIONING MEETING JULY 2008 W5 TRIGGER : A-side is fully configured!! Internal PRS alignment is OK : gain of the foreseen 4 clock cycles ECAL latencies are set (according to previous measures) All settings are determined for A-side and propagated to PVSS configuration Next : Do the same for C-side Access to ECAL&PRS C-side required. Confirm the previous ECAL-PRS & PRS-TVB latency measures (a difference of one clock cycle is possible due to input phase value) Commission the L0 trigger w/ cosmics. S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 5
Trigger Path: BCN analysis S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 6
PRS Cooling: Don t know whether it s significant or not: temperature increases when moving from the beginning to the end of the cooling system. First box is < 23 C.Last is <28 C. Last report was temperature less than 25 C everywhere. S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 7
Pedestal corrections: 1) Stable all along the week. 2) Some cables replugged on PRS_3. Corrections measured. OK. 3) 2 new channels w/ a pedestal larger than 255 (A-side). 4) PSFEB07 in PRS_0 shows a weird pedestal variation. 5) Currently corrected <PRS_ADC>=0. S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 8
Pedestal corrections: 1) 2 new channels w/ a pedestal larger than 255 (A-side). In total [Feb,Ch]: [23,28], [53,24], [76,11],[82,45],[92,10],, ] Only 3 are seen because of Tell1 10 ADC counts S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 9
Pedestal corrections: 4) PSFEB07 (1/2) in PRS_0 shows a weird pedestal variation. Pedestal corrections such that <PRS> is around 15. S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 10
Pedestal corrections: 4) PSFEB07 (1/2) in PRS_0 shows a weird pedestal variation. OK weird S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 11
Plans for the week: Smooth restart of the system. Understand/fix the current problems. Include SPD time alignment corrections. Refine trigger path for next week commissioning : GET OUT PRS AND ECAL EACH TIME IT IS POSSIBLE. Record large cosmics statistics. Few improvements of PRS PVSS project. S.Monteil PS/SPD COMMISSIONING 12
