4 BIOGRAPHY Gordon R. Sullivan, General (Retired) U.S. Army General Sullivan is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of the United States Army, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. Since assuming his position in 1998, General Sullivan has overseen the transformation of the Association into a dynamic member-based organization that represents Soldiers, families, and the defense industry. His responsibilities encompass both daily business operating and strategy planning for the largest Army-oriented non-profit association. The Association promotes and advocates programs for Soldiers and their families, creates opportunities for Army-Industry and professional dialog; advocates public awareness of Army and national security issues through its educational mission and maintains an outreach program to national leadership on critical issues pertinent to Army readiness. Born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Quincy, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Norwich University and was commissioned a second lieutenant of Armor in General Sullivan retired from the Army on 31 July 1995 after more than 36 years of active service. He culminated his service in uniform as the 32 nd Chief of Staff the senior general officer in the Army and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. General Sullivan currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Norwich University and the Marshall Legacy Institute, as well as a member of the MITRE Army Advisory Board, the MIT Lincoln Labs Advisory Board, a Life Trustee of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, and a member of the CNA Military Advisory Board. In addition to his many awards on active duty, he is also the recipient of the West Point Association of Graduates Sylvanus Thayer Award and a member of the Sergeants Major Academy s Hall of Honor. General Sullivan currently resides in Alexandria, VA. He has three children and three grandchildren. He is an avid reader, amateur historian, and active sailor and sport fishing enthusiast.

5 Lieutenant General Gustave F. Perna U.S. Army, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 Lieutenant General Gustave F. Perna assumed duties as the U.S. Army's Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, on 18 September He oversees policies and procedures used by 240,000 Army logisticians throughout the world. Prior to joining the Army staff he served for two years as Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/4, U.S. Army Materiel Command, one of the Army s largest commands with 70,000 employees impacting all 50 states and 155 countries. LTG Perna's other command assignments include: Commander, Joint Munitions Command and Joint Munitions and Lethality Lifecycle Management Command, responsible for the lifecycle management of $40 billion of conventional ammunition; Commander, Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, Defense Logistics Agency, responsible for the procurement of more than $14.5 billion worth of food, clothing, textiles, medicines, medical supplies, construction and equipment items for America's Warfighters and other customers worldwide; Commander, 4th Sustainment Brigade, where he deployed the brigade to combat operations during OIF 05-07; Commander, 64th Forward Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, where he deployed the battalion to combat operations during OIF I; Deputy Commanding Officer, 64th Corps Support Group, 13th Corps Support Command, Fort Hood, Texas; and Commander, B Company, 143rd Ordnance Battalion, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. LTG Perna s key staff assignments include: Director of Logistics, J4, U.S. Forces-Iraq, responsible for sustainment plans and policies for strategic and operational logistics to sustain coalition and joint forces; Executive Officer to the Director of the Defense Logistics Agency, supporting the Director's mission of providing Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and other federal agencies with logistics, acquisitions and technical services support; Ordnance Branch Chief, Human Resources Command; DISCOM Executive Officer and G4, 1st Cavalry Division, where he deployed to Bosnia; 544th Maintenance Battalion Support Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer, 13th COSCOM; and G4 Maintenance Officer, 13th COSCOM, where he deployed to Somalia as a member of Joint Task Force Support Command. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy with an Associate s degree in Business Administration. Graduating as a Distinguished Military Graduate, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Infantry Officer. He earned a Bachelor s degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Master s degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology. His military education includes: Infantry Officer Basic Course, Ordnance Officer Advance Course, Logistics Executive Development Course, Support Operations Course, Command and General Staff College and Senior Service College. His awards and decorations include: Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Superior Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Parachutist and Air Assault Badges. LTG Perna is married to the former Susan L. Pollack. They have two sons, Cody (married to Ashley) and Ryan; and two granddaughters, Adryiana and Priscilla.

6 Lieutenant General Larry Wyche DEPUTY COMMANDING GENERAL REDSTONE ARSENAL SENIOR COMMANDER Lieutenant General Larry Wyche assumed duties as the Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Materiel Command on April 10, In this position Lieutenant General Wyche also serves as the Senior Commander of Redstone Arsenal; the Executive Director for Conventional Ammunition; the Executive Director for Explosives Safety; and the Chief Operating Officer for the Department of the Army Depot Maintenance Corporate Board. He previously served as the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) and the Sustainment Center of Excellence at Fort Lee, Virginia. Lieutenant General Wyche began his career in the enlisted ranks and achieved the rank of sergeant while serving as a Calvary Scout leader. Lieutenant General Wyche received his commission as a Quartermaster officer from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi ROTC and graduated in 1983 earning a Bachelor of Business Administration. He later earned masters degrees in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. His previous assignments included serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics and Operations of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Lieutenant General Wyche also served as the Commanding General of the Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command/Joint Munitions Command, Rock Island, Illinois. This command included more than 15,000 employees and Soldiers with depots, arsenals, and ammunition plants in 17 locations. While serving as a Brigade Commander, Lieutenant General Wyche deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he simultaneously served as Commander of the Joint Logistics Command, Combined Joint Task Force 76, responsible for logistical support to Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors in Afghanistan. He has also served in numerous staff positions to include Chief, Initiatives Group, and later as Chief, Focused Logistics in the Force Development Directorate of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Programs and Director for Strategy and Integration in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics at the Pentagon. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Legion of Merit Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Bronze Star Medal; Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Joint Service Achievement Medal; Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; and the Humanitarian Service Medal. 7 BG THOMAS R. GOEDKOOP is a Vice President for Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. He retired from the United States Army in October 2003 after serving for over 29 years as an Armor officer in a variety of command and staff positions throughout the Army in the United States and overseas. He currently leads Booz Allen s efforts supporting the Training and Doctrine Command. His last assignment before retiring was the Deputy G3, Forces Command. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The United States Military Academy and Master s degrees from the Army s School of Advanced Military Studies and the National War College.

8 MG Edward F. Dorman, III Commanding General Major General Edward F. Dorman, III is a native of Cookeville, Tennessee and a 1983 Distinguished Military Graduate of Tennessee Technical University where he received his commission. Prior to his selection as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 (Operations), he was the Army G-4 Director of Operations and Logistics Readiness where he began working the retrograde of equipment and personnel from Afghanistan. MG Dorman also served as the Military Assistant to the Commander, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Director, APPF Advisory Group, and the ISAF CJ-4. His other General Officer assignments include the Army s 25th Chief of Transportation and Commandant of the Transportation School. MG Dorman has commanded at all levels, from platoon through brigade, and served in staff assignments at the battalion through Army and Joint Staff level. He served overseas tours in Germany and operational combat deployments including: Commander, Logistics Task Force 530, Operation Enduring Freedom; Commander, Task Force Spear, JSOTF 20, Operation Iraqi Freedom; Sustainment Brigade Commander (Special Operations) (Airborne), Operation Enduring and Iraqi Freedom; and Assistant Chief of Staff-CJ4, Multi-National Corps-Iraq, Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq; and G-4, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. MG Dorman is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He holds a Master of Language Arts in German Language and Literature from Middlebury College and the Johannes- Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University. MG Dorman s awards and decorations include: the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with 2OLC, Bronze Star Medal with 2 OLC, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with 1 OLC, Meritorious Service Medal with 5 OLC, NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, the Ranger Tab, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge,and both the Army and Joint Staff Identification Badges.

9 Lieutenant General William M. Faulkner Deputy Commandant for Installations and Logistics Lieutenant General Faulkner was promoted to his current rank and assumed his duties as Deputy Commandant for Installations and Logistics in October Lieutenant General Faulkner s participation in forward deployed operations includes assignments serving as the S- 3 Operations Officer, Brigade Service Support Group 4 during Operation DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM; United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the former Yugoslavia during Operation PROVIDE PROMISE; Commander, MEU Service Support Group as part of Task Force 58 in Afghanistan (OEF); G-3 and Chief of Staff, 2d Force Service Support Group (Forward) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Lieutenant General Faulkner has commanded MEU Service Support Group 26, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit as a Lieutenant Colonel and Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2d Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force as a Colonel. As a General Officer, he commanded the 2nd Marine Logistics Group and 3rd Marine Logistics Group as well as having served as the Vice Director, J-4, Joint Staff. Lieutenant General Faulkner holds a Masters of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He graduated with distinction from the Air Command and Staff College, and Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School and also holds a Masters degree in Business from Chaminade University, Hawaii.

10 Dr. Elliott Minor Chair, Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics School of Business, Virginia Commonwealth University Dr. Elliott Chip Minor received the Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, followed by a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy as a Supply Corps officer. There he learned the critical importance and complexities of procuring and sending goods and materials to ships and places all over the world, which in today s vernacular is a textbook example of global supply chain management. His Navy experience led him to further education. Dr. Minor earned his Ph.D. in Operations Management with a minor in Operations Research from the University of South Carolina, after which he joined the faculty of the School of Business of Virginia Commonwealth University. He served as Associate Professor of Operations Management in the Department of Management prior to being selected to serve as the first Chair of the Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics (SCMA), commencing on July 1, Dr. Minor led the development of the undergraduate concentration in supply chain management and analytics, as well as the Master of Supply Chain Management program, an innovative leading edge program developed in collaboration with the U.S. Army s Army Logistics University (ALU). He directs the University s involvement in the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Logistics Systems (CCALS) and serves as the University s representative to the CCALS Board of Directors. He is also leading the development of a Center for Sustainable Supply Chains, a multi-disciplinary center devoted to the study and promotion of economically sound, socially and environmentally sustainable supply chain practices in developing markets.

11 Dr. Minor has published in journals including the European Journal of Operational Research, the International Journal of Production Research, and the International Journal of Production and Operations Management.

12 Mr. John E. Hall, SES President Army Logistics University Mr. John E. Hall, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the President, Army Logistics University (ALU), Fort Lee, VA. Mr. Hall was inducted into the Senior Executive Service in April Prior to his arrival at ALU, Mr. Hall was the Deputy Director of Logistics Operations (J-3/4), Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, VA, where he was responsible for coordinating DLA worldwide logistical support. He oversaw supply chain and distribution operations that provided 100 percent of the fuels, subsistence, clothing and textile requirements, medical supplies, and over 83 percent of the repair parts for the Combatant Commanders, Military Services, and other DOD/Federal Agencies. Among other achievements, he coordinated the operations and successful DLA support for the U.S. Forces responsible drawdown in Iraq and the effective establishment of DLA support for support to Department of State as the lead federal agency in Iraq. Prior to this position, Mr Hall was Executive Director for Operations and Sustainment where he was responsible for DLA global operational planning and support. While in that position, Mr Hall deployed to Iraq and established a plan for the Commanding General of the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq (MNSTC-I) for the development of an Iraqi national level logistics capability as well as an advise and assist concept plan for MNSTC-I to lead that effort. He also played a key role in the establishment of the Northern Distribution Network that has given USCENTCOM an additional critical resupply route into Afghanistan. Mr Hall previously served in CASCOM as the Deputy Director of the CSS Battle Lab, Deputy Director of the Training Directorate, and Chief, Quartermaster Training Division in the Training Directorate. He also served in a developmental assignment as the Associate Executive Director for Supportability and Production PM Future Combat Systems (Brigade Combat Team) at Fort Lee, VA, where he was responsible for developing and integrating the supportability aspects of the Future Combat Systems (FCS) Program. Mr. Hall served 27 years in U.S. Army logistics units around the world, achieving the rank of Colonel. His final assignment was Deputy Commander of the 3d Corps Support Command during Operation Iraqi Freedom I. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Arkansas State University, a Master of Arts in Latin American studies from Stanford University, and is a 1999 graduate of the U.S. Army War College. He is married to the former Darlene Santiago. They have 4 children: Richard, Michael, Darlene, and David.

13 MG Duane A. Gamble U.S. Army, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 MG Duane A. Gamble assumed duties as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (G-4) in July He provides overview and direction in the management of actions pertaining to logistics operations, readiness, strategy, integration, force projection and distribution. Before joining the Army staff, MG Gamble served as the Deputy Commanding General of the 1 st Sustainment Command (Theater). He oversaw the sustainment, equipping, training, mobilizing and deployment of logistics forces in support of CENTCOM and ARCENT operational priorities. MG Gamble served as the Commander, 528 th Sustainment Brigade (Airborne) supporting Army Special Operations Forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Philippines; Commander, 426 th Forward Support Battalion (Air Assault) supporting the Bastogne Brigade (1 st Brigade, 101 st Airborne Division (Air Assault)); Deputy Commanding Officer, 46 th Corps Support Group (Airborne); and Commander, Company B, 782d Maintenance Battalion (Airborne) supporting the Falcon Brigade (2d Brigade, 82d Airborne) during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. MG Gamble s other key staff assignments include: Director, Force Projection and Distribution (G-44D), Army G-4; Deputy J-4, United States Forces Iraq; J-4, Joint Task Force Haiti; G-4, XVIII Airborne Corps; G-4, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Turkey; Executive Officer for the Army Materiel Command G3; G4, 101 st Airborne Division (Air Assault) during Operation Iraqi Freedom; and Executive Officer, 307 th Forward Support Battalion (Airborne), 82 nd Airborne Division. A native of Arbutus, Maryland, MG Gamble attended Western Maryland College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and was commissioned as an Ordnance officer in May He has earned Masters of Science degrees from the Florida Institute of Technology and from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. MG Gamble s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (4 Oak Leaf Clusters), Bronze Star Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge.

14 LTG Mitch Stevenson (Ret) Senior Vice President and Operations Manager Logistics Solutions Operation (LSO) LTG (Ret) Mitch Stevenson joined Leidos (formerly SAIC), in March 2012, and is currently Senior Vice President and Operations Manager, Logistics Solutions Operation. Prior to joining Leidos, he served for over 37 years in the United States Army, culminating his career as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (G-4) at Headquarters Department of the Army. Previous General Officer assignments include Commanding General, US Army Combined Arms Support Command at Fort Lee, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (G-3) at Headquarters, Army Materiel Command, Chief of Ordnance and Commandant of the US Army Ordnance Center and Schools at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (G-4) at Headquarters, US Army Europe, and Director, Logistics Plans, Logistics Operations and Logistics Automation at Headquarters, Department of the Army. LTG (Ret) Stevenson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from West Virginia University in 1974, a Masters of Science from the Florida Institute of Technology in Logistics Management in 1983, and graduated from the US Army War College in His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Legion of Merit with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and Bronze Star. He is an active member of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), and the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). He was inducted into the Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame in 2013 for his significant contributions to the Ordnance Corps and the nation s security.

15 MAJOR GENERAL PAUL C. HURLEY, JR. DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF, G-4 U.S. ARMY FORCES COMMAND Major General Paul C. Hurley, Jr. became the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, U.S. Army Forces Command, on July 31, In this position, he ensures FORSCOM can provide fully equipped logistically sustainable and ready forces to meet Combatant Commander requirements across the spectrum of current and future operations. Major General Paul C. Hurley, Jr. was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program at Texas A&M University in July Hurley s civilian education includes a Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University, as well as Masters Degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Air Force Air University. His military education includes the Transportation Officer Basic and Advance Courses, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Air Force War College. Hurley s command experience includes Platoon Leader, 34th Transportation Company and 372nd Transportation Company, 29th Transportation Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Company Commander, 96th Transportation Company (HET), 180th Transportation Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; Battalion Commander, 47th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Baghdad, Iraq; Brigade Commander, National Training Center Support Brigade, Fort Irwin, California; and Commanding General, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, 8 th U.S. Army, Camp Henry, South Korea. Les Carroll serves as commanding general of the 377 th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) in Belle Chasse, La. 22 Lieutenant General Robert R. Ruark Director for Logistics, J-4, The Joint Staff Lieutenant General Ruark was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Pennsylvania, Indiana and Ohio. He was commissioned in 1981 through the NROTC program at Miami (Ohio) University. He has commanded at the company, detachment, battalion, regiment, and group levels. He served as a joint strategy planner in the Logistics Directorate, J4, Joint Chiefs of Staff. He took command of the 1st Army Support Battalion, 507th Corps Support Group (Airborne), MFO. He served a second tour at PERSCOM as the Quartermaster branch chief. Wharton commanded the 55th Theater Support Command, Eighth Army. He led the CSA s Task Force Logistics and was then selected to be Deputy Commander for Futures, Army Combined Arms Support Command. He became director of the Army Initiatives Group, Army G4, followed by an assignment as XO to the HQ DA Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, G4. He deployed to Kuwait as CG, AMC-Forward South West Asia/Army Central G4/Coalition Forces Land Component Command C4 for Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. He was the Army Materiel Command chief of staff from November 2009 to March Wharton holds a master s degree in national security and strategic studies. His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Legion of Merit (with two oak leaf clusters), Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with silver oak leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (with service star) and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

ESTEVEZ PRINCIPAL DEPUTY UNDER SECRETARY OF DEFENSE ACQUISITION, TECHNOLOGY AND LOGISTICS Alan Estevez was confirmed by the Senate as the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics in October As the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Mr. Estevez develops and implements strategies, policies, and programs that increase the Department s warfighting capabilities, management efficiency, and buying power in support of the Warfighter. Mr. Estevez supports the Under Secretary of Defense in all matters related to acquisition; logistics and materiel readiness; research and engineering; nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons; operational energy; installations and environment; and the defense industrial base. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Estevez held several key positions within the Office of the Secretary of Defense. From August 2011, when he was confirmed by the Senate, to October 2013, Mr. Estevez served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness. In this position, he was responsible for providing world class military logistics support to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and managing a budget of over $170 billion in logistics operations. He was the first career Federal official to hold this position. Mr. Estevez served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness from November 2006 and performed the duties of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness from April 2009 to August From October 2002 to November 2006, Mr. Estevez was the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Supply Chain Integration and was responsible for developing global defense supply chain management and distribution policies.
