SLO 2: input and produce reports from business records. SLO 3: compose business letters, and employment applications choosing the appropriate delivery means. SLO 4: SLO 5:
II. Mapping Program Level SLOs to Courses/Learning Experiences/Requirements Map the expected program level student learning outcomes (Section I) to all the courses, program requirements, and/or other learning experiences (i.e. work experience, internships, support services, etc.) that are a part of the program. Place an in the box for each program level SLO that is introduced, emphasized, or reinforced in each of the listed courses or learning experiences. 3 III. Defining Assessment of Expected Student Learning Outcomes Identify appropriate assessment methodologies for the program level student learning outcomes, including summative assessments where appropriate. 1.) Assessed by passing specific and/or multiple-choice questions and/or production exams in BUS 13A (SLO 1, 2 & 3), BUS 13B (SLO 1, 2 & 3), BUS 74 (SLO 1, 2 & 3), CIS 7 (SLO 1 & 2), CIS 34 (SLO 1, 2 & 3) 2.) Assessed by specific T/F and/or multiple-choice questions and/or essay exams and/or projects in BUS 20 (SLO 2), BUS 24 (SLO 2 & 3), BUS 55 (SLO 3), BUS 74 (SLO 2 & 3), CIS 34 (SLO 1, 2 & 3). 3.) Assessed by passing specific and/or multiple-choice questions and/or production exams and/or projects in BUS 13A (SLO 1 & 2), BUS 13B (SLO 1 & 2), BUS 28 (SLO 1). 4.) 5.) 4 IV. Assessing Student Learning Outcomes Have the expected student learning outcomes for all courses or other experiences required in the program (section II) been assessed? If all relevant courses and/or other experiences have been assessed, summarize the assessment data. Program Level SLO 1 Course SLO Success Failure BUS 13A SLO 1 96% 4% BUS 13A SLO 2 95% 5% BUS 13A SLO 3 95% 5% BUS 13B SLO 1 95% 5% BUS 13B SLO 2 95% 5% BUS 13B SLO 3 95% 5% BUS 74 SLO 1 N/A% N/A % BUS 74 SLO 2 N/A % N/A % BUS 74 SLO 3 N/A % N/A % CIS 7 SLO 1 91% 9% CIS 7 SLO 2 91% 9% CIS 34 SLO 1 89% 11% CIS 34 SLO 2 88% 14% CIS 34 SLO 3 88% 14% Average Success Rate 73%, 93%* Program Level SLO 2 Course SLO Success Failure BUS 20 SLO 2 82% 18% BUS 24 SLO 2 91% 9% BUS 24 SLO 3 96% 4% BUS 55 SLO 3 N/A% N/A% BUS 74 SLO 2 N/A % N/A % BUS 74 SLO 3 N/A % N/A % CIS 34 SLO 1 89% 11% CIS 34 SLO 2 88% 14% CIS 34 SLO 3 88% 14% Average Success Rate 59%, 89%* Business-Bookkeeping Certificate Page 4 of 7
Program Level SLO 3 Course SLO Success Failure BUS 13A SLO 1 96% 4% BUS 13A SLO 2 95% 5% BUS 13B SLO 1 95% 5% BUS 13B SLO 2 95% 5% BUS 28 SLO 1 91% 9% Average Success Rate 94%* Business-Bookkeeping Certificate Page 5 of 7
V. Analyzing the Results of Assessment Have the assessment results for all courses and/or other experiences required in the program (section II) been analyzed? If so, summarize those analyses. In other words, what does the relevant SLO assessment data tell you about student learning in this program. The assessment results for all courses required in the Business Bookkeeping Management Certificate have been analyzed. Examining the average success rates of the applicable course level SLO s, indicates program SLO 3 was the strongest with average success rate of 94% in the five course levels SLO s measuring a student s ability to compose business letters, and employment applications choosing the appropriate delivery means. In stark contrast SLO 1 has a success rate of only 73% followed by a dismal 59% success rate for SLO 2. Both of these SLO s include BUS 74, a course that has not been offered for at least fifteen years. SLO 2 also includes BUS 55 a bookkeeping course not successfully offered in many years. Much of the content in BUS 55 can be found in BUS 1A which lacks the practice set and repetition found in a bookkeeping course. Business-Bookkeeping Certificate Page 6 of 7
VI. Planning/implementing changes to pedagogy, facilities, etc. to improve learning Using the assessment results from sections IV and V, have changes to pedagogy, facilities, etc. been planned and implemented to improve learning in the program? Explain how the assessment results were used to plan and make changes to improve learning; and describe the changes implemented. If no changes are planned, explain why. The assessments clearly show, that as the result of BUS 55 Bookkeeping and BUS 74 QuickBooks Pro not being offered, students are not acquiring the necessary skills encompassed in the Business Bookkeeping Certificate. These courses need to be offered to support the certificate. The lack of BUS 74 is especially detrimental, as the skills are not taught in any other course.
