More recently, BiFab signed a memorandum of understanding with SSE, Siemens Wind Power, Siemens Transmission and Distribution, Subsea 7 and Atkins to undertake joint work to reduce the offshore wind farm costs. Manufactures accommodation and workspace modules to be fitted on vessels used in offshore construction and for offshore platforms. Ferguson Modular Aberdeen, Scotland (HQ) Its parent, the Ferguson Group, has supplied offshore accommodation to the North Sea oil and gas market since 1976 and is currently undertaking a 75million expansion programme which includes investing 20m on its first offshore accommodation support vessel. It provides engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance and project management services. It is a consortium partner in Seagreen Wind Energy along with SSE which is developing the Firth of Forth Round 3 zone. Scottish and Southern Energy Fritz Schur Energy Facilities in China, USA Supplies a range of hydraulic systems used in wind turbines, the highest value being the pitch systems for adjusting blade angle. This consists of rotor-mounted hydraulic actuators. It has been supplying systems for wind turbines since the late 1980s and it established a strategic partnership with what is now Siemens Wind Power in the 1990s. Nordex Siemens Wind Power Vestas Wind It is part of the family-owned Fritz Schur Technical Group. Offshore contractor undertaking geotechnical site investigations and turbine installation. GeoSea Belgium (HQ) It owns a fleet of jack-up platforms and drilling and piling rigs. Three of its jack-up barges have been used in offshore wind farm installation but it is unlikely that they will be suitable for the installation of large projects further from shore. GeoSea is part of DEME, the dredging and hydraulic engineering group. It is a member of the Future Energy joint venture with Fabricom and Lemants, which will design, fabricate and install substations.

It manufactures and fabricates substations topsides in production facilities in Hartlepool in the UK. HFG's yards build the transformer platforms, while HFG Engineering provides the engineering solutions. KBR owns the Nigg Yard in Scotland which is considered a suitable site for offshore wind construction activities. Having decided not to develop the site in 2010, it is looking to sell the facility. The Global Energy group has been named as the preferred bidder. LM Wind Power Production facilities in Canada, China, Denmark, India, Poland, Spain and USA LM Wind Power has announced plans to establish a prototype manufacturing and testing facility for large offshore wind blades in China. The new facility will be capable of handling blades up to 100m long. The longest blade it currently makes is 61.5m for REpower but it has entered into a strategic partnership with Alstom to develop a longer blade for a planned 6MW offshore turbine. Alstom Power Repower XEMC Darwind m Marsh Wind Technology Facilities in Denmark and UK Formerly Hendricks Industries, Marsh Wind Technology manufactures steel monopiles and towers for wind turbines. In March 2011, Scottish and Southern Energy and Marsh Wind Technology entered into joint venture called Wind Towers to acquire the Skykon tower manufacturing business based in Campbeltown, Scotland. It was named as the preferred bidder in March To date, the Campbeltown facility has focused on towers for the onshore market but has recently seen investment that will allow it to serve the offshore market too. It also offers project management services during the linking of the jacket substructures to substation topside platforms. McNulty s has a deep water quay on the south side of the River Tyne, with quays able to accommodate loads up to 8,000 tonnes. In 2005 it acquired Consafe Engineering Services and provides design, procurement and fabrication of onshore and offshore living quarters. Fluor Siemens Transmission and Distribution com It is seeking investment partners to develop jacket foundation production facilities. Independent supplier of wind turbine control systems employing 230 people worldwide. Entered the market in the early 1970s and has supplied more than 38,000 control systems to the wind industry. Mita-Teknik Production facilities in Denmark, China, India and Ukraine It provide complete control systems as well as hardware and programming tools. The company also supplies SCADA, condition monitoring, and electrical and control panels for wind turbines. Repower Its WP4x00 control system has been developed specifically for offshore use.

MPI Offshore UK (HQ) It operates the MPI Resolution which has been the industry s leading turbine installation vessel with more than 200 turbines installed to date. The vessel also operates a array cable-laying tractor. A subsidiary, MPI Workboats, owns four workboats used for the transfer of equipment and personnel to and from wind farm sites. The company has commissioned two new purpose-built vessels with higher specifications. Formed from Pirelli Cables and ongoing acquisitions of other leading payers since Pirelli acquired the cable division of Siemens in 1998 which was responsible for the world s first offshore wind farm in Vindeby in Denmark. RWE npower renewables In 2011, it was announced that Prysmian planned to acquire a majority share in Draka cable to form the leading global supplier of cables. Rambøll Offices in UK Engineering consultancy with nearly 9,000 employees worldwide. Its core activity in offshore wind is the design of steel and concrete foundations but it also offers a range of services from site assessments to feasibility studies. MT Højgaard RWE npower renewables Specialist offshore contractor providing jack-up vessels to the oil and gas and offshore wind sectors. Seajacks UK (HQ) Owns and operates two self-propelled installations vessels, Leviathan and Kraken, which entered service in In 2010 it commissioned a new self-propelled jackup vessel Zaratan designed for turbine and foundation installations, with an expected delivery date in An option on additional vessel of the same design was allowed to lapse. The SIF Group undertakes the rolling and welding of monopiles while Smulders manufactures transition pieces and undertakes finishing works. A relatively new player in the sector, the company was formed in 2006 by the merger of three other companies. The Switch Finland (HQ) Facilities in China and Finland Its focus is on applying converter and permanent magnet generator technology to the renewable sector and in particular wind. It offers direct drive generators with either inner or outer rotors as well as conventional mid and high speed machines. Its 4.25 MW direct drive generator is to be used in GE Wind's prototype 4 MW offshore turbine.
