2 Kwinana s Mission: Kwinana Swimming Club will through world-class initiatives promote and provide opportunities for everyone in our community to participate in aquatic activities that produce champions of life. Kwinana s Values: Professional Inclusive Cohesive Healthy Competitive Objectives The Kwinana Swimming Club Strategic Plan identifies five core objectives that must be achieved to deliver successful transformation. Profile Governance Partnerships Infrastructure Performance
3 Kwinana s Plan Kwinana Swimming Club has always been a member of the Kwinana community. Our club believes in bettering ourselves will better the community in which we live. In a nation whose love affair with the water has shaped our history and transforms the way we go about our day to day lives, our club only knows too well the role that aquatic sports has in developing wellness, inclusiveness and champions of life. As our nation, our state and our local community grow, adapt and position themselves within the world, the Kwinana Swimming Club too will learn to adapt and grow. As we search for ways to promote wellness, inclusion and respect, our club firmly believes, swimming and aquatic sports is where the connection can be made. Kwinana Swimming Club seeks that in our plan. Kwinana s plan will not only shape the young but will promote and provide opportunities for everyone in our community. It is our obligation to produce life-long swimmers. It is our obligation to develop the people who create our club and leave a legacy for those champions of tomorrow. The next four years present an opportunity for the Kwinana Swimming Club. To develop awareness in our community, to increase participation in aquatic sport and to create people who will positively change the world one lap at a time. Our athletes, our volunteers, our programmes and events will work together to deliver Kwinana s Plan. No longer resting on our laurels, Kwinana will lead forward, for success in swimming and success in life.
4 Strategic Objective One: Profile Promote the Kwinana Swimming Club and importance of aquatic activity to the wider community. 1. Develop a brand strategy to effectively promote the club 2. Develop an internal communications plan for delivering effective communication 3. Establish media partnerships with local media outlets 4. Recognise past members, life members and future members of the club 5. Advocate health benefits of swimming to promote lifelong participation in the sport 6. Develop annual mass participation event New Kwinana Swimming Club brand strategy launched Communication strategy launched Membership survey indicates 75% or greater member satisfaction with club branding and communication Major Kwinana Swimming Club events attract local media attention Annual club awards night recognises and celebrates past members, life members and attracts non-members of the club Successful all-ages annual event staged with participation from junior and Masters members as well as prospective members of the club and their families.
5 Strategic Objective Two: Partnerships Encourage partnerships in the community to secure the future of the Kwinana Swimming Club. 1. Establish strong links with Local Government and the State Government 2. Foster partnerships with Swimming WA and Masters Swimming WA 3. Foster partnership with Kwinana Recquatic 4. Establish strong connections with local schools 5. Foster partnership with key organisations in the community Biannual meeting held with City of Kwinana Biannual meetings established with Swimming WA CEO/Club Development Officer, Masters Swimming WA Chair Maintained agreement between Club and Kwinana Recquatic Pathway established between Club Squad Program and Kwinana Recquatic Learn to Swim Establish partnership with local school Introduce sponsored awards for local school swimming carnivals Sponsorships established with local organisations Funding/scholarships secured for low socioeconomic members
6 Strategic Objectives Three: Performance Implement policies and initiatives that deliver excellence in all areas of swimming. 1. Develop squad program aligned with world s best practice 2. Increase representation at state level competition 3. Establish representation at national level competition 4. Establish pathway for officiating Implementation of squad program review delivering redefined requirements for squad transitions, placement and squad expectations Introduce streamlined pathway for squad progressions Establish pathway for swimmers with a disability Establish pathway for fitness swimmers Greater than 50% of membership attend state level competition by % of swimmers indicate they are supported by the club through complimentary life courses, study support and social cohesion Bi-monthly club nights accessible for all members with official times One annual Club carnival accredited by Swimming WA Five swimmers achieve national time standards by 2018 Annual officiating course offered by the club Two officials recognised as members of the club by 2018
7 Strategic Objectives Four: Infastructure Obtaining equipment and technology that supports performance in the pool and increases access to swimming. 1. Maximise pool space for members 2. Maximise social cohesion 3. Lead WA clubs with technology and implementation 4. Develop online swimmers portal 5. Establish programs that provide accessibility for all members of the community. Maintain agreement with Kwinana Recquatic Establish partnerships with aquatic managers at surrounding pools Establish partnerships with aquatic managers at new pools Establish social events in new areas to promote the club and increase accessibility for new members in attending social events Establish monthly social activities Promote new equipment purchases Fundraise and purchase new equipment with grants and profitable club activities Research and establish online swimmers portal with club management software Establish swimmer with disability and fitness squads in current squad program Improve efficiency of use of club room and current equipment
