1 Course Title: Nurse Aide II (HLT 105, HCT 101, HCT 190) Course Date: September 8, 2015 June 3, 2016 Instructor: Connie Johnson, RN, BSN, MSN Phone: Planning: 4 th Block (1:38-3:15) Course Description Nursing Assistant II teaches basic nurse aide skills with emphasis on physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients. The course covers basic nurse aide procedures, interpersonal relations, communications, observation, charting, reporting, care planning, safety, infection control, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, patient feeding, ethics, and death and dying. Multiskilled health care workers are prepared to care for patients of various ages with special emphasis on geriatric nursing, home health, and employment in long term and short term care facilities. This is a DUAL Enrolled class with Eastern Shore Community College earning 6 credits. Required Texts and Materials: Dugan, Diana L. Performance Assessments: Students will be evaluated via tests, quizzes, assignments (class and homework), participation. Attendance: Attendance will be taken daily. Excessive absenteeism and tardiness will be handled per Accomack County School policy. Excessive absenteeism may result in student not meeting the qualifications of testing for the certified nurse aide licensure examination.
