1 BACHELOR OF MUSIC The Bachelor of Music is a 4 year post secondary school degree programme that offers learners the opportunity for a focused study in music. The programme of study is designed to deepen learners music concepts and practice context, by equipping them with relevant knowledge and skills in diverse areas of music. The curriculum emphasizes practical and technical skills to enable learners develop their musical talent and build competitive standards relevant to the music industry. It enables learners to work competently in the music industry and/or pursue further studies in their respective major areas in music. The Bachelor of Music graduates are expected to be effective artists (performers/composers) and music professionals within other disciplines, including research, documentation and production Entry Requirements Applicants shall be eligible for admission into the Bachelor of Music degree in the School of Creative Arts and Technologies as follows: KCSE Applicants The basic admission requirement is the minimum entry requirement set for entry into public universities, which is at least an average grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE). In addition, applicants are expected to have obtained: a B in music at KCSE and at least a C+ in the other cluster subjects of the KCSE examinations: Cluster Subjects Music English/Kiswahili Mathematics and any Group II or any Group III Any Group II or Group III or Group IV or Group V KCSE Subject Grouping Group I: English, Kiswahili, Mathematics Group II: Biology, Physics, Chemistry Group III: History and Government, Geography, Christian Religious Education, Islamic Religious Education, Hindu Religious Education Group IV: Home Science, Art and Design, Agriculture, Aviation Technology, Computer Studies Group V: French, German, Arabic, Music, Business Studies A Level or Equivalent Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) principals. In addition, they should demonstrate evidence of prior music experience.

2 Diploma or Equivalent Applicants with a Diploma in Education (Music) from a recognized institution. Diploma in Music or Equivalent Applicants with a Diploma in Music of the Kenya Polytechnic University College or from any other recognized institution. Other qualifications: Applicants with the minimum academic qualifications above that do not include music shall )be accepted based on Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 theory and grade 8 practical, or London College of Music (LCM) grade 8 performance or any other equivalent international qualification. Auditions For admission, all applicants will be expected to attend a placement audition, which will be used to determine their level of entry. This will be conducted at least 3 months prior to assumption of studies.
