5 Kinetic Rain sculpture at Changi Airport In Changi Airport Terminal 1 Largest kinetic sculpture in the world Inspired by tropical rain 1,216 copper-plated aluminium droplets Practically ALL visitors stop to look at / photograph it! Did you know? Project required > 2000 engineer hours Each droplet has its own individual servomotor (Electrical Engineering) Stringent requirements for dynamics, precision and speed of motion only 1mm error over 7.6m (i.e. only 0.01%)! (Mechanical Engineering) Requires 7 computers synchronising calculations from individual servomotors at 2ms intervals (Computer and Software Engineering)

13 Engineering for Your interests Tong Ming Xi, Luthier (Mechanical Engineering, 2003) Passionate violinist Enjoys hands-on work Resident luthier of the Rin collection of over 500 string instruments Has worked on violins made by famous craftsmen such as Stradivari, Guarneri & Amati It s an everyday thing that is everywhere. Engineering is everywhere. If you know how to use it, it is a very useful skill. (We) control our fate, (and are) able to come up with something new and unique always.

The internships in USA, Netherlands and France, are truly enriching. In fact, I spent approximately a third of my undergraduate studies overseas. This is something unique to the GEP.
