4 Modular/High Density Air Conditioning InfraStruXure InRow RC In-row air conditioning for medium to large data centers including high density applications. Data center heat densities continue to increase, making it more difficult to provide adequate cooling. To ensure proper airflow paths the distance between the heat source and heat removal system must decrease. The in-row concept closely couples cooling with heat load, preventing exhaust air recirculation to sensitive IT equipment. The InfraStruXure InRow RC is a computer room air conditioning system designed for installation in the row to maximize sensible cooling and increase efficiency. The unit captures heat directly from the hot aisle and distributes cool air ensuring that equipment temperatures are constantly held to setpoint conditions. The energy-efficient design lowers total cost of ownership by monitoring IT equipment inlet temperatures to modulate capacity based on the demand for cooling. Fan speed is controlled based on the demand to reduce energy consumption during off-peak cooling periods. Heat rejection for the unit can be handled through an existing chilled water system or an APC-supplied chiller. 5 InfraStruXure Cooling Distribution Unit Modular/High Density Air Conditioning Flexible chilled water distribution system for the InfraStruXure InRow RC. The Cooling Distribution Unit provides centralized cooling, balancing and distribution through jointless and flexible chilled water piping in the data center. The Cooling Distribution Unit and Chilled Water Whip system allows for quick deployment and enables customer infrastructure the flexibility to grow and change with minimal labor and installation costs. PEX-AL-PEX piping, used for chilled water piping between the CDU and InRow RC, allows the chilled water to be routed without the use of elbows or any intermediate joints from the CDU to each InRow RC. This application greatly improves the reliability of the system by dramatically reducing the chance of leakage. PEX-AL-PEX is a multi-layered composite tubing consisting of aluminum tubing sandwiched between inner and outer layers of cross-linked polyethylene, providing flexibility of the piping to be routed through the data center with the rigidity to stay in place. With smooth interior walls and the chemical properties of the material, PEX-AL-PEX is resistant to mineral buildup, corrosion, and the risk of pinholes. The multi-press fittings provide a reliable and leak resistant connection to both the CDU and InRow RC. The individual chilled water lines to the RC are both flexible and jointless, enabling customer infrastructure to be deployed quickly, added for future expansion, or rerouted with minimal time as demands change. InfraStruXure InRow RP is a high capacity precision air conditioning unit designed to maximize sensible cooling for high efficiency operation. The InRow RP product increases the capacity range for chilled water applications and includes an air cooled solution. Both the chilled water and air cooled products offer the ability to control humidity with canister humidifiers and electric reheat, enabling data center designs to leverage the InRow Architecture for both sensible cooling of the IT load in the row, and humidity control of the entire data center. New technologies are increasing heat loads in today s server rooms and wiring closets, which often lack adequate cooling. The APC InfraStruXure InRow SC is a self-contained cooling solution that maximizes availability within small IT rooms. 8 Modular/High Density Air Conditioning Hot Aisle Containment Hot aisle containment for high-density configurations. Mixing of hot and cold air streams in the data center lowers availability of IT equipment. Returning the warmest possible air to the computer room air conditioners increases the efficiency and capacity of the system. The hot aisle containment system ensures proper air distribution by completely separating supply and return air paths. The hot aisle is sealed off using doors and transparent ceiling tiles that extend the width of the hot aisle. Ceiling tiles are available for both 19 and 23 racks. Two-rack kits complete with ceiling tile and hardware are available for future expansion. Cable access brush strip Blocks air from escaping through holes surrounding cabling. APC s Rack Air Containment is a modular system designed to work in conjunction with APC NetShelter SX enclosures and InRow cooling units to provide maximum cooling predictability, capacity, and efficiency. By attaching to the rear of the NetShelter SX, air exhausted from IT equipment is forced to pass through the cooling unit where it is conditioned. This ensures that warm exhaust air does not find its way back to the air inlets of installed servers. N+1 and 2N configurations allow for maximum availability. Front containment can also be added to provide additional isolation and noise dampening. 9 Air Distribution/Fans Wiring Closet Ventilation Unit Rapidly deployable wall and ceiling mount heat removal for wiring closets. Wiring closet heat loads are rising due to deployment of technologies such as VoIP and Power over Ethernet. The Wiring Closet Ventilation Unit is a rapidly deployable wall and ceiling mount heat removal system designed specifically for the wiring closet environment. By exhausting hot air from the closet to an adjacent space it allows conditioned air (entering through the Air Intake Grill) to cool the load. Dual fans increase availability while LED status indicators and dry contact outputs enhance the unit s manageability. Selectable fan speeds allow the user to choose between maximum performance and quiet operation. 10 Air Distribution/Fans Rack Air Removal Unit SX Performance heat removal for high-density equipment in NetShelter SX and VX enclosures. High-density equipment creates an environment where traditional air distribution methods are often not effective. Densely packed enclosures can cause IT equipment to overheat, resulting in downtime. The Rack Air Removal Unit SX captures exhaust heat, ducting it to the return air plenum and eliminating hot spots. Through automatic fan speed adjustment based on temperature or power consumption, the fans will self-adjust for optimal performance. With a unit-mounted LCD display users can view temperatures at the rack, monitor alarm conditions and adjust unit set points. The integrated network management card allows for remote monitoring and control of the Rack Air Removal Unit SX. 11 Air Distribution/Fans Rack Air Distribution Unit Air distribution for power dense enclosures and low pressure areas The Rack Air Distribution Unit is a 2U fan unit that works with an existing precision air conditioning system to deliver cool air to the equipment contained in a rack enclosure. The Rack Air Distribution Unit connects into the raised floor and pulls supply air directly into the enclosure. This prevents the conditioned air from mixing with warmer room air before reaching the equipment. The Rack Air Distribution Unit minimizes temperature differences between the top and bottom of the enclosure. It also prevents hot exhaust air from recirculating to the inlet of the enclosure. The product is recommended for rack enclosures with loads greater than 1.5kW and can provide airflow for loads up to 3.5kW. It is also ideal for enclosures in raised floor environments where underfloor air distribution is inadequate. : Dual fans Deliver air to equipment in the rack where floor tile velocity is inadequate for proper cooling. 12 Air Distribution/Fans Rack Side Air Distribution Unit Air distribution for networking equipment with side to side airflow Housing equipment with side to side airflow creates many challenges for IT and facility managers, particularly in regards to cooling. Because most enclosures are designed for a front to back airflow pattern, it is difficult to maintain ideal operating temperatures on side to side airflow equipment. The Rack Side Air Distribution Unit allows for greater security and organization by allowing racks to be placed adjacent to one another without impeding airflow. The Rack Side Air Distribution Unit is a 2U rack mountable air distribution product for networking equipment or servers with side to side airflow. It pulls in conditioned air from the front of the rack and distributes it to the side air intake of the networking equipment. This extends equipment life by providing proper inlet temperatures. This product is recommended for one or more networking products that are stacked consecutively in a rack. Rack Side Air Distribution Units may be placed above and/or below the networking equipment. Serviceability Front service access The system has full service, front access for routine servicing of components. Front access also narrows the footprint of the system making it possible for units to be placed side by side. Protection Double-walled panels Separates insulation from the air stream, which prevents periodic maintenance of the insulation and reduces noise levels. Small particles of insulation can be picked up by the air stream if not isolated. Economy Dedicated dehumidification Boosts system efficiency by adding latent capacity without overcooling or increasing the requirement for reheat, resulting in up to 15% lower energy consumption (N/A chilled water systems).
