3 INTRODUCTION This Manual provides the operation and maintenance procedures for the FoxAir 60 (60Hz) and FoxAir 50 (50Hz) series of Air-Conditioning units. Included is a list of FoxAir options available. There are no user serviceable components internal to the unit so maintenance procedures are limited to routine maintenance requirements. PURPOSE OF EQUIPMENT The FoxAir unit provides a convenient and reliable portable solution for pre-conditioning ambient air in an aircraft cabin, cockpit, equipment bay, fuselage or other confined environment. The base FoxAir unit provides a fan only mode, and a cooling mode. A Heating mode is offered as an option on all models. In addition to cooling, heating, and air movement, when operating in the cooling mode, the unit will reduce ambient humidity by removing moisture from the air. The moisture is dissipated through the units drain system as water. Optional 25 insulated air delivery hose recommended for use in direct sunlight. Y coupling for connecting two 6 air delivery hoses directly to FoxAir unit. Drain hose kit available in 50 & 100 lengths. Includes angled cutoff valve and hose. Optional 100 & 150 input cable lengths. Hose Rack. Stores air delivery hose and drain hose on top of FoxAir unit. Electrical wall box and receptacle kit. Mates with plug supplied with FoxAir cart. Custom color options upon request. Stainless Steel option for high corrosion environments. 5 DESCRIPTION FoxAir consists of a packaged air conditioning unit, modified for portability and use in an aircraft hangar environment providing pre-conditioned air via a 10 delivery hose. The unit is packaged for durability and to accommodate portability with minimum maintenance requirements. It utilizes a sealed R410A refrigeration system and there are no user serviceable components, nor can the unit be re-charged with refrigerant by the user. Any failure of the sealed refrigerant system must be returned to Foxtronics, Inc. for repair, or referred to an air conditioning repair professional. When operating in the cooling mode, FoxAir removes moisture from ambient the air. An integral drain located in the center of the bottom of the unit offers the option of draining the excess water directly on to the ground underneath the FoxAir unit, or to a remote drain via the optional drain kit. The unit also features a unique wicking feature that allows the drain to be capped (as shipped from the factory) and excess water is then wicked up via the condenser fan blade. This mode also provides additional cooling capability and is useful in extremely hot environments. FoxAir units, without the remote control option, are factory set to the highest cooling setting and no adjustments are available. The main power breaker switch on the front panel powers the unit ON and OFF. FoxAir units supplied with IR Remote Control functionality utilize an electronic control module that memorizes the last setting of the unit when switching the unit OFF via the main power breaker switch on the front panel, or during a power failure. When the unit is switched back ON, or power restored, the unit will begin operating in the same mode as before power was removed. Temperature, mode, timer, and fan speed functions are displayed on, and controlled via the hand held IR Remote Control. The base FoxAir 60/50/B unit is a cooling only unit. An optional heating function adds an electric heating element that provides up to 12, 000 BTU of heat.

6 PREPARATION FOR USE Carefully remove the FoxAir Unit and all accessories from the shipping crate. Remove all protective packaging from the FoxAir unit prior to operating it. Inspect the unit for damage that may have occurred during transportation. FoxAir is shipped completely assembled except for the handle. Attaching hardware for the handle is inserted in to the mounting holes in the rear panel where the handle is to be attached for your convenience. Next, connect the air delivery hose coupler to the FoxAir unit by twisting it on to the locking pins of the FoxAir output duct. Use the cinching belt on the air hose to secure the hose to the coupling assembly. Make sure that there is adequate ventilation. Please allow at least 5 clearance around the FoxAir unit for proper operation. You are now ready to power FoxAir up. A VAC source at 20A is required for the FoxAir unit. Verify that the source connection is adequate. Inspect the input cable and plug assembly for damage prior to connecting it to the electrical source. Do not connect the input plug to the source if the cable or plug is damaged! Install the two (2) AAA batteries in the remote control (if equipped) and you are now ready to power your FoxAir unit On

7 OPERATION ALL MODELS Switch the main breaker switch on the front panel to the up position to power the unit ON. MAIN BREAKER/SWITCH All units are shipped from the factory set to the maximum fan speed and coolest temperature setting until changed with the remote control. When the unit is initially powered ON, allow up to three (3) minutes for the compressor to operate. Unit will blow air only until the compressor starts. Avoid switching unit OFF and ON repeatedly. If unit is switched OFF and OF repeatedly, or following power failures, it may temporarily shut itself down to avoid damage. When this happens, switch power OFF at the front panel and wait five (5) minutes before attempting to operate again. MODEL 50B/60B WITH REMOTE All functionality is controlled with the hand held Remote Control and can be monitored on the LCD display of the remote. Point the remote at the IR receiver window located just below, and to the right of, the output duct on the front panel, when using it. Power ON/OFF, functional adjustments to fan speed, temperature, mode, and an ON/OFF timer are

8 available on the FoxAir remote. If your remote is equipped with an Auto Swing function, it is not functional. IR REMOTE RECEIVER WINDOW FOXAIR REMOTE CONTROL OPERATIONS 1. Power Toggles power ON and OFF when main power switch on front panel is ON (up position). 2. Temperature Control Adjusts temperature up and down from F (16-30 C). 3. Operation Mode Selector Toggles between cooling modes; cooling, money saver, fan only, dehumidifying mode. 4. Fan Speed Selector Sets fan speed L, M, H. 5. ON/OFF Timer If unit is ON, sets OFF timer. If unit is OFF, sets ON timer hours in 1 hour intervals. 6. Auto Swing- DISABLED AT FACTORY

9 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE Tire/Wheel Maintenance The two large tire/wheel assemblies on the FoxAir unit utilize solid maintenance free tires and do not require air so there is no requirement to monitor air pressure. The hub assemblies however do have grease fittings on the inside half of each hub. An allpurpose wheel bearing grease should be added annually as required for average use. Check more or less frequently as your usage requirements dictate. Air Filter Cleaning The intake air filter is contained in the filter bank housing that drops in from the top of the FoxAir unit. Remove the filter bank by removing the two screws and nylon washers that secure the housing to the top of the FoxAir unit. You can now lift the filter bank assembly straight up out of the FoxAir unit. 2 SCREWS & NYLON WASHERS The filter is a washable anti-microbial filter that should be cleaned with lukewarm water every two weeks under normal operation in a normal environment. Exceptionally dirty or dusty environments require cleaning more frequently.

10 After rinsing the filter with water, shake excess water from filter and allow to dry prior to replacing the filter in the FoxAir unit. Drain Maintenance FoxAir utilizes a drain located in the center of the bottom of the unit to drain off excess moisture as required. DO NOT ALLOW WATER TO STAND IN UNIT WHEN NOT IN USE! Standing water left in the unit leads to rust & corrosion and will shorten the life of your FoxAir unit. When using the unit in the wicking mode (with drain capped), make certain that no standing water is left in the unit when it not being used by removing the drain cap, or opening the drain valve if unit is equipped with drain option, to allow excess water to drain.

11 TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible Cause Possible Remedy Input plug not completely seated. Make sure that input plug is completely seated with AC receptacle. Main breaker/switch not switched ON. Check the main breaker/switch on the front panel is in the ON (up) position. FoxAir does not start. Power Failure. If a power failure occurs, set the mode control to OFF. When power is restored, wait three (3) minutes before restarting the FoxAir unit to avoid tripping the compressor overload switch. If unit is switched OFF with the remote prior to switching OFF the main breaker/switch on the front panel, the Unit switched OFF with unit will return to the OFF mode when remote. the main breaker/switch is switched ON (up). After three (3) minutes, press the Power button on the remote. Make sure that there are no obstacles blocking the rear, sides, or top of the FoxAir unit. FoxAir requires substantial Airflow is restricted. ventilation to cool correctly. All vents and louvers must be clear. The better the ventilation, the better the cooling ability of FoxAir. FoxAir does not cool as it should. FoxAir freezing up Thermostat may not be set cool enough. Air filter is dirty. Area being cooled is exceptionally hot! Cooling coils have iced up. Ice blocks air flow and prevents cooling. FoxAir continues to freeze up. Adjust temperature setting with remote to the coolest setting 60 F. Clean air filter every two (2) weeks. If area to be cooled is exceptionally hot, allow time to cool off. It is also helpful to provide a means for the hot air to ventilate from the area as it is displace by the cooler air as opposed to a sealed area. See below. Set the mode control to High Fan only mode until the ice thaws out. If not equipped with remote, turn unit OFF until ice thaws out. Set the temperature to a lower setting with the remote.
