5 THE REPORT Objectives and Goals Portugal Outsourcing is a non-profit Association that joins the Top Portuguese Information Technology Outsourcing and IT enabled Business Processes Outsourcing Service Providers ItsmaingoalistopromotetheICTOutsourcingServicesinorderto: Increase the sophistication of those economic sectors we provide services to; Promote the growth of the Portuguese Economy and its export potential; Contribute for Portuguese intra-country regional balancing. This Report aims to identify Portugal s benchmark position as a nearshore outsourcing location and the critical success factors for its promotion 5 Portugal, a Nearshore Outsourcing Destination

16 Conclusions Based on testimonies from companies with shared services centres in Portugal, IT professionals community is amongst the most skilled, creative and committed people when compared with other locations Portugal has a competitive cost/value environment among its competitors within the European Context Committed investments in Education and increasing focus on R&D and its commercial applications, will enhance Portugal competitiveness in the long term Top performer in Language skills and innate ability to work effectively in multicultural, cross-border working environments According to the World Economic Forum, Portugal is amongst the best in Europe in terms of infrastructures and utilities, the 21 st out of 133 World economies and 12 th within Europe Leading position in e-government with significant improvement in the last 5 years in terms of bureaucracy reduction impacting positively on service levels and perceived quality 16 Portugal, a Nearshore Outsourcing Destination
