1 GENERAL SCHOOL INFORMATION Accreditation, Approval, Licensure of School: Kenneth Shuler Schools maintains information on the names and addresses of agencies and accrediting commissions that license and accredit our campuses. This information is located on the title page of the student handbook. These handbooks are provided to prospective students prior to enrollment and are available anytime in the Admissions Office. Special Facilities/Services Available to Disabled Students: The schools do not maintain special facilities directly related to disabled students. However, reasonable accommodations will be made, by the school, for individuals who request accommodations in writing. The school has the right to determine whether an accommodation is reasonable. The school also has a right to request medical documentation for the accommodation. Any qualified individual with a disability requesting an accommodation should follow this procedure: 1. Notify the Director of Compliance in writing of the type of accommodation needed, date needed, documentation of the nature and extent of the disability, and of the need for the accommodation. The request should be made at least four weeks in advance of the date needed. You may contact the Director of Compliance by telephone at or by at [email protected]. 2. The Director of Compliance will respond within two weeks of receiving the request. Vaccination Policy: Kenneth Shuler Schools do not require proof of vaccinations for enrollment. Other Education Offered: The school does not currently offer any degree granting programs. Our programs lead to licensure within the State of South Carolina. Any plans to alter or improve the academic programs will be informed to all prospective and current students once it is determined by the company s Executive Board. Information on each Program Kenneth Shuler Schools offers cosmetology, nail technology, esthetics, and instructor training at various locations. Please see what is available at the location nearest you. Upon meeting all completion requirements as outlined in the student handbook, you will receive a diploma from the school. The lengths of the programs are as follows: Cosmetology = 1500 clock hours Esthetics = 600 clock hours Instructor Training = 750 clock hours A full time student is defined as a student who attends a minimum of 24 clock hours per week. The academic year is 900 hours and 30 weeks. Cost of Attendance Kenneth Shuler Schools provides information regarding the cost of tuition, books, a kit, and lab fees in our Student Handbook that is available in the Admissions Office during normal business hours. Room, board, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses range from approximately $783 to $2674 per month depending on whether the student is considered an independent or dependent student. The budget adjustments are based on the Consumer Price Index as well as the campus that he/she chooses to attend. GED Program: The school does not provide a GED program. However, the Admissions Office maintains information on how to obtain a GED. The school also does not admit anyone who does not have a standard high school diploma or GED. Page 1 of 6
2 Facilities: The basic equipment and requirements are mandated by our State Board of Cosmetology. Information regarding regulations are available at All of our locations contain classrooms conducive to learning. Classrooms are designed for both theory and practical education. All of our locations also maintain a student salon which provides students with real-life experience in a salonlike setting. Instructional Personnel: Kenneth Shuler Schools maintains a list of the names and positions of employees at our campuses. This information is located under Faculty and Staff of Kenneth Shuler s School in the student handbook. These handbooks are available online to prospective students prior to enrollment and are available anytime in the Admissions Office. FSA Funds for Study Abroad Programs: Kenneth Shuler Schools do not provide information regarding FSA Funds for Study Abroad Programs. The South Carolina Board of Cosmetology statutes and regulations do not allow for internships or externships. Therefore, students could not receive credit in a Study Abroad Program. Transfer of Credit: Kenneth Shuler Schools maintains a policy regarding the Policy for Previous Credit from other institutions. This information is located under Policy for Previous Credit in the student handbook. These handbooks are available online to prospective students prior to enrollment and are available anytime in the Admissions Office. Articulation Agreements have been established and are in place between all Kenneth Shuler Schools. Types of Employment: Graduates who obtain their licenses typically work in salons and spas. Some of our graduates have been employed in industry-related retail stores. Kenneth Shuler s School of Cosmetology, Inc. does not guarantee employment after completing the required hours of your course and becoming licensed; however, the school has an excellent placement record for its graduates. All graduates are encouraged to request our staff to assist them in securing a position in cosmetology or its related fields. The student bulletin board is kept current with salons in the area requesting stylists or nail technicians. Our school also invites salons to our Career Day. This Career Day provides a means in which the current students can ask the salon managers questions regarding employment opportunities. Many salons set up times with our School Directors in order to interview our students who are about to graduate. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to provide the salon manager with a resume that they had completed as part of their salon business requirements. Student Body Diversity: As required by the HEOA, Kenneth Shuler Schools are providing information relating to the diversity of the students who are Full-time and receiving FEDERAL PELL GRANTS. This information is broken down by gender and ethnicity. This information does not consist of the entire student body. This information is considered true and correct for those students who were enrolled in school on June 30, Females Males Garners Ferry Campus - Females Males Page 2 of 6

Copyright laws give the author/owner of original works exclusive rights to do any of the following: Reproduce the copyrighted work. Prepare derivative works. Distribute copies by sale or other transfer of ownership or by rental, lease, or lending. Copyright is violated whenever the intent of copying can be interpreted as avoiding purchase. However, educational institutions receive special consideration with respect to the copyright law. Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, including peer-to-peer file sharing, may be subject to both civil and criminal liabilities. In addition, those individuals who participate may also be subject to institutional sanctions. Below is a summary of those liabilities which is available at Summary of Civil and Criminal Penalties for Violation of Federal Copyright Laws Copyright infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to the copyright owner under section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code). These rights include the right to reproduce or distribute a copyrighted work. In the file-sharing context, downloading or uploading substantial parts of a copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement. Penalties for copyright infringement include civil and criminal penalties. In general, anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement may be ordered to pay either actual damages or "statutory" damages affixed at not less than $750 and not more than $30,000 per work infringed. For "willful" infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed. A court can, in its discretion, also assess costs and attorneys' fees. For details, see Title 17, United States Code, Sections 504, 505. Willful copyright infringement can also result in criminal penalties, including imprisonment of up to five years and fines of up to $250,000 per offense. For more information, please see the Web site of the U.S. Copyright Office at especially their FAQ's at Students who infringe on copyright law may be subject to disciplinary action ranging from suspension up to termination from the program.
