Atelier Esthétique Institute of Esthetics is the first esthetics school accredited in the United States to be part of the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC). ITEC is the largest international examination board, and issues professional diplomas with qualifications that are recognized and respected by employers in 25 countries, including the United States. The strength of ITEC lies in its external testing procedures, which maintain high standards internationally, and enable ITEC certified estheticians to be in high demand worldwide. An examiner from overseas will travel to our school to test your theoretical and practical skills and assess your performance on case studies. Your 600-hour training at Atelier Esthétique Institute of Esthetics prepares you to take your New York State licensing exam for Esthetics. And with only a few weeks of additional training, you will be ready to take the ITEC Beauty Specialist Exam or ITEC Facial Electrical Treatment Exam.

3 600 Hour Esthetics Course You must complete all six modules of the esthetics course and pass our institute's written and practical examinations in order to be eligible to take the New York State licensing examination. Module 1 Preparation for the Profession of Esthetics Theory: 37.5 Hours Practice: 75 Hours This module prepares you with the background needed in order to understand the skin and its functions. 4 Module 2 Facial & Body Procedures & Practices Theory: 105 Hours Practice: 195 Hours This module will teach you the procedures for a facial treatment. An extensive postgraduate curriculum designed to keep you on top of the latest procedures and products in the industry. The educational programs available at Atelier Esthétique Institute of Esthetics offer practical, hands-on sessions combined with guest lecturers and manufacturer demonstrations. This provides students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to obtain an esthetics or waxing license. 7 Credit for Prior Education If you already have your cosmetology license, massage therapy license, or are a registered nurse and wish to attend our school, you will be evaluated for credit hours previously earned. Skin Care Specialists trained in other states may also be eligible for credit hours. SCHOOL LOANS Sallie Mae Loans are available to students who qualify. You can even register on-line! These loans can be used for our esthetics and waxing programs as well as our postgraduate classes including the ITEC Preparatory Courses. Scholarships available for eligible students include: National Coalition of Esthetics & Related Associations (NCEA) $1000 scholarship. ACE grants. 8 Our Staff Pierce York, School Director Mr. York has been a practicing esthetician, body therapist, lecturer and educator for more than twenty years. Much of his study time was spent in London where he received training on clinical aromatherapy with Eve Taylor and make-up techniques with Linda Meredith. Mr. York opened the first licensed skincare school in Connecticut and is a renowned spa consultant. In addition to his esthetics and teaching licenses, Mr. York s background as an accountant and business manager contributes greatly in helping him prepare students for the business world. He opened and trained for some of the top spas and resorts in the country, which give his graduates an advantage when seeking employment. Linda Zagaria, Administrator A lifelong educator, Mrs. Zagaria spent more than thirty years in public education as both teacher and administrator. She holds degrees from CW Post College of LIU and SUNY at Stony Brook and has completed many hours of postgraduate work. Her dedication to the field of education is reflected in her careful administration of the school s program. Oxana Beauregard, Instructor Ms. Beauregard has been a practicing esthetician since She holds a degree in Health Information management and a Masters Degree in Business from the University in Maine; she is currently pursuing a degree in nursing. As a former owner of a skin care business in Maine, her expertise and dedication make her eminently qualified to prepare students for careers in the beauty industry. Tracey Byer, Instructor Ms. Byer has eleven years of combined experience as an esthetician and massage therapist. She served in the U.S. Army as a medic and surgical room technician before embarking on her career in beauty therapy. She graduated from the Swedish Institute and has been formally trained in all aspects of skin care, as well as Ayurvedic treatments, aromatherapy, and holistic body therapies. Tracey has been employed by some of New York s premier spas and also works as a private practitioner.

9 A n n e t t e H a n s o n s B i o g r a p h y Annette Hanson is the founder of Atelier Esthétique Institute, ( a New York State licensing esthetics school, postgraduate facility, and the first licensed, internationally recognized U.S. member of the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC). Her professional experience in skin care spans more than 20 years as an esthetician, body therapist, salon manager, educator, and spa consultant for some of the most prestigious spas and salons in the United States. Annette created two new treatment lines Simple Solutions with GHK Copper Peptide Technology and AquaSanté Spa Products from France. She is currently a Consultant to ProCyte Corporation, a medical skin care company in Washington. As an advocate of high educational and professional standards, Ms. Hanson is an active member of the New York State Cosmetology Association, and is licensed by New York State as a private school instructor. She was instrumental in the development of the 600-hour curriculum for the New York State Esthetics License as well as the written and practical exam. Recently, she has been appointed by New York s Secretary of State to serve as Educator on the Appearance Enhancement Advisory Committee for esthetics, nails and cosmetology. As a renowned skin care expert, Ms. Hanson is a published author and a soughtafter lecturer at leading professional conferences worldwide. She is a regularly featured author in industry periodicals such as American Spa, Dermascope, Skin Inc., and Les Nouvelles Esthetiques; she has appeared as an esthetics expert on Fox s Good Day New York; and she has been featured in leading health and beauty publications such as Vogue, Ladies Home Journal, Fitness, W Magazine, New Woman, Prevention, Jane, Family Circle and Good Housekeeping.
