19 SWITCH PERT The backbone network has plenty of free capacity and the link to my desk runs with 100Mbps, says my network manager, but my data transfers don t even reach 10Mbps of throughput. What might be wrong here? applications operating system TCP stack configuration network links far end system (server)? A team of specially trained network experts is available to track down this type of performance problems all the way from your machine to the far end system, crossing the borders of countries and providers. 19
