1 Executive Master of Management in Global Supply Chains ie In association with: Global Supply Chain Management is the lifeblood of a business organisation Madrid. Spain
2 The IE Experience IE alumni form part of a 30,000 strong network spread over 85 countries across the world. They share far more than a master s title.they share the IE experience - a life-changing experience in an international business school that is independent and diverse, where entrepreneurship and innovation form part of the day-to-day fabric, along with academic excellence, a superlative corporate network, and socially responsible vision. Madrid campus IE s urban campus is located in the heart of Madrid, where IE students also have the benefits of learning and using Spanish, the world s second major business language. International Environment Students at Instituto de Empresa enjoy a truly international atmosphere, with more than 65 nationalities on campus, and a faculty comprising 40% international professors. Academic Excellence IE is ranked by the international press as one of the best business schools in the world among the top 5 in Europe and top 20 worldwide. IE is also fully recognised by the three leading accreditation agencies in the business education arena: AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, three prestigious institutions whose recognition guarantees the quality of business management training programmes. This three-fold achievement is known in the sector as the triple crown. A business school in permanent contact with business realities, which is reflected at each and every level of the learning process. Global Reach IE is truly international, not only in terms of student body and faculty, but also in the content of its programmes. International rankings by Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist or BusinessWeek place IE among the five top business schools in Europe, and among leading schools worldwide for its MBA and Executive Education Programmes. Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurial Studies at IE IE is itself the creation of an entrepreneur, and therefore the entrepreneurial spirit of the founder has been a guiding principle since our inception. At IE we view entrepreneurship as a mentalitydriven process that is focused on the systematic identification, evaluation and development of business opportunities. To further build on this entrepreneurial spirit, Instituto de Empresa has an Entrepreneurship Department with a team comprising over 200 external tutors who serve as mentors during the development of business plans, and who design training programmes in the fields of corporate venturing, family venturing and independent venturing. MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics The MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics is part of the Engineering Systems Division in the School of Engineering. The Center is widely recognized as an international leader in the field of transportation and logistics. Along with basic contributions to the understanding of transportation system planning, operations and management, its efforts include significant contributions to logistics modeling and supply chain management for shippers; to technology and policy analysis for government; and to management, planning and operations for trucking, railroad, air and ocean carriers. MIT Zaragoza International Logistics Program The MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program is a unique research and education partnership that brings together the supply chain interests of academia, industry and government -- all linked to the development of the largest and most up-to-date logistics park in Europe. The program was established in 2003 by the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL), the University of Zaragoza, the government of Aragón, industry partners, and the PLAZA logistics park in Zaragoza, Spain. Ingrid Pérez Trujillo - Master en Dirección Comercial y Marketing, Dic. 04
3 Globalisation, the subsequent development of emerging economies, relentless competition and continuous change in a vulnerable environment are creating new rules of survival for businesses. We share the belief that this new race will be won by those companies, or rather, company networks, that design, implement and execute the best global supply chains. But how do they do it? What competences should a director or a management team develop in order to compete in this new context? IE Business School has joined forces with the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics to create the Executive Master of Management in Global Supply Chains (EMMGSC) as a direct response to this particular challenge. The EMMGSC is designed to equip the participant with new competences that enable the successful creation and sustainability of the global supply chain. Participants develop analytical skills in order to identify and tackle the problems involved in establishing a global supply chain in the changing corporate scenario. Our approach is based on three key realities: Globalisation, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary experience, collaboration and trust. The participant will be immersed in the meaning and impact of these three pillars in each and every module of the programme. The EMMGSC is the result of pioneering content underpinned by an innovative learning process centred around the case method coupled with further unique learning experiences. Moreover, the residential courses in Madrid-Zaragoza, Shanghai and Boston give students a privileged insight into very different cultural realities. The ability of a company to compete effectively in a global business arena will inevitably depend on its capacity to develop the techniques needed to build and run a global supply chain. This is why firms are demanding new competences and management skills of their global supply chain directors and management teams. Join us if you want to be a pioneer in this new class of business leaders. Welcome to the Executive Master of Management in Global Supply Chains. Oswaldo Lorenzo. Academic Director of the EMMGSC
4 The Programme A supply chain is the network of companies, or independent business units which facilitates the flows of information, materials and services that take a product from the raw materials provided by original suppliers to the product purchased by end-customers. Global supply chain management is the lifeblood of a business organisation. Key studies have revealed that rising to the challenge of globalisation is by far the main concern of corporate leaders, and that they see effective global supply chain management as the solution in that improvements in supply chains globally and production at multiple locations in many countries enables reductions in cost and cycle time. of globalisation, namely multicultural environments that constitute a veritable melting pot of different social norms, ethics and laws, requiring the management of cross-culture teams and global stakeholders. Second, managers have to design and implement an integrated and synchronized supply chain, based on collaboration and trust among the business units it comprises. They know what they are talking about. Management of this network is a broad and challenging task that plays a key role in the success or failure of companies in the current corporate landscape. The firms that succeed will be the ones that have learned how to leverage and coordinate their operations on a worldwide basis. For many, integrated global supply chains will offer one of the best opportunities to compete in competitive worldwide markets. The pursuit of competitive advantage requires the development of global processes and strategies, and an awareness of the challenges that are inherent to managing global supply chains. First, global supply chain managers have to deal with the political and social consequences The Executive Master of Management in Global Supply Chains will equip you with the knowledge and management skills required to lead a successful global supply chain operation in an international, culturally diverse context. This programme is a leading business school s response to the globalisation phenomenon. Participants receive a privileged insight into the management of global supply chains based on collaboration and trust in a cross-culture and interdisciplinary environment. On completion of the programme, you will be qualified to bring the considerable advantages of global supply chain management excellence to an international business organisation.. The on-line experience The on-line programme allows students from anywhere in the world and with any working timetable or travelling requirements to attend the Executive Master of Management in Global Supply Chains. The case discussions might go deeper than in face-to-face programmes as they last for several days, leaving students and professors time to read the comments that have been posted, digest them and submit a personal, deeply thought comment to the class. Several discussions are held in parallel, making it easier for the student to perceive links among the different aspects under discussion. This working environment enriches the learning process. The broad use of Internet technologies (such as mail, chats, messaging, Internet telephony and video conferences) brings the students and the professors together at any time of the day, from anywhere in the world, eliminating distance and time constraints. This ubiquity creates strong and personal links among students, professors and the programme directors. Structure Presencial Period Madrid-Zaragoza Online Period Presencial Period Boston Online Period Presencial Period Shanghai
