1 LAUREA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES DEGREE REGULATIONS The Laurea University of Applied Sciences degree regulations are based on the current Polytechnics Act and Government Decree on Polytechnics. The operating licence granted by the Finnish Government to the Laurea University of Applied Sciences on 12 December 2013 specifies the educational responsibilities for providing education leading to a Bachelor's or Master's degree. 1 EDUCATIONAL TASK Section 1. Laurea University of Applied Sciences The Laurea University of Applied Sciences (hereinafter also Laurea) strategy is to be an internationally acknowledged university of applied sciences, specialising in regional development in the Uusimaa area. Students play a central role in Laurea's integrative operating approach, whose aim is to produce new expertise and service innovations. Laurea's focus areas are Service Business, Expertise in Nursing and Coping at Home, Security and Social responsibility as well as Student Entrepreneurship as a cross-cutting profile factor. Laurea's operations are based on its values: Sense of community, Social responsibility and Creativity. Section 2. Degrees and degree programmes In accordance with the operating licence, the following university of applied sciences degrees may be earned at Laurea: - Bachelor s Degree in Beauty Care and Cosmetics: Bachelor of Beauty Care/Estenomi (AMK) - Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration: Bachelor of Business Administration/Tradenomi (AMK) - Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management: Bachelor of Hospitality Management/Restonomi (AMK) - Bachelor's Degree in Health Care: Bachelor of Health Care (Physiotherapist) /Fysioterapeutti (AMK), Bachelor of Health Care (Nurse)/Sairaanhoitaja (AMK), Bachelor of Social Services/Sosionomi (AMK), Bachelor of Health Care (Public Health Nurse)/Terveydenhoitaja (AMK) Laurea also offers the following Master's degrees and their related qualifications: - Master's Degree in Beauty Care and Cosmetics: Master of Beauty Care/Estenomi (ylempi AMK) - Master's Degree in Business Management: Master of Business Management/Tradenomi (ylempi AMK) - Master's Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management: Master of Hospitality Management/Restonomi (ylempi AMK) - Master's Degree in Social Services and Health: Master of Health Care (Physiotherapist)/Fysioterapeutti (ylempi AMK), Master of Health Care (Nurse) /Sairaanhoitaja (ylempi AMK), Master of Social Services/Sosionomi (ylempi AMK), Master of Health Care (Public Health Nurse)/Terveydenhoitaja (ylempi AMK) Laurea s educational responsibilities and their explanations are described in Appendix 1. The language of instruction and degree programmes at Laurea is Finnish. Finnish degree programmes may include study units or study entities given in English. The language of
3 instruction in degree programmes in English is English. Degree programmes given in English may include study units or study entities given in Finnish, which help the student integrate into the Finnish workplace. In studies leading to a degree, some study units or entities may also be offered in other languages. The maturity test, which is part of the thesis, is taken by the student in Finnish or Swedish, in accordance with the Decree on Polytechnics. Students who have received their formal education outside Finland or in a language other than Finnish or Swedish may take the maturity test in Finnish or English. The scope of a university of applied sciences degree is 210 credits; the exception to this is the Public Health Nursing specialisation option within Social Services, Health and Sports, which has a scope of 240 credits. The scope of studies leading to a polytechnic Master's degree is 90 credits. Studies are measured as ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), wherein one credit is equivalent to a student's workload of approximately 27 hours, including all of the required work for the studies. The average workload of 1,600 hours for one academic year of full-time studies is equivalent to 60 credits. Section 3. Professional specialisation studies, open university studies and other education In addition to studies leading to a degree, Laurea also offers training containing elements of degree programmes as open university studies or, in other cases, separate studies as well as professional specialisation studies and other adult education. Laurea can also arrange immigrant integration training for university of applied sciences studies as well as tailor-made education specified in section 13 of the Polytechnics Act.? Section 4. Curricula Degree programmes leading to a university of applied sciences degree comprise basic studies, professional studies, elective studies, placements that fosters professional competence and a thesis. Studies begun in the spring of 2014 and earlier were offered as degree programmes. Modules constitute a broader competence area, whose mastery typically requires students to complete several study units or a project within a given subject area. The curriculum contains the nationally defined generic competences as part of the objectives set for the modules or study units. Degree programmes leading to a Master's degree include advanced professional studies, elective studies and the thesis. The objective of studies is for the graduate to possess: 1) extensive practical basic knowledge and skills and a theoretical foundation for working in expert tasks in his or her field 2) capabilities for following and promoting the development of his or her professional field 3) capabilities for developing his or her vocational skills and for lifelong learning 4) adequate communication and linguistic skills for tasks in his or her field as well as international activities and cooperation. (Decree 546/2013, sections 4 and 7) A degree programme leading to a university of applied sciences degree includes placement(s) to foster professional competence, with a scope of at least 30 credits (Decree 564/2013, section 5).
4 Degree programmes leading to a Master's degree include advanced professional studies, elective studies and the thesis. The objective of studies leading to a Master's degree is for the graduate to possess: 1) comprehensive and in-depth knowledge as well as the theoretical skills required for development of the workplace in demanding expert and managerial duties; 2) an in-depth idea of the respective field, its position in the workplace and its social importance as well as the ability to monitor and analyse the development of scientific information and professional practices in the respective field; 3) the ability for lifelong learning and continuous personal professional development; 4) adequate communication and linguistic skills for tasks in his or her field as well as international activities and cooperation. (Decree 546/2013, sections 4 and 7) The degree programme competence objectives and a more detailed structure of studies can be found in Laurea curricula. Laurea's competence-based curricula adhere to the requirements of the European and National Qualifications Frameworks (EQF and NQF). Curricula are approved by the Laurea Management Team. 2 STUDENT SELECTION AND ACCEPTANCE Section 5. Student selection and accepting a study place The Laurea Management Team decides on student selection criteria. Admission for studies leading to a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree primarily takes place through the joint national application system. However, the joint national application system is not used when accepting students to degree programmes other than those funded under the Act on the Funding of Educational and Cultural Services (1705/2009) or when accepting transfer students. Laurea can also choose to exclude from the joint national application system degree programmes in a foreign language and degree programmes aimed at a specific target group, which are applied for through a separate application system. A separate application period is held five times a year for students applying to the Open University of Applied Sciences. Laurea provides applicants for studies in Social Services and Health Care with information on requirements relating to their medical condition and functional capacity. Students without the medical or functional capacity to participate in practical assignments and studies cannot be admitted. Ineligibility may also apply to those whose study place has been cancelled on a prior occasion, if issues relating to the protection of the health and safety of others so require. Laurea makes decisions on a case-by-case basis as to whether a prior cancellation may affect the field of study. Acceptance takes place upon the decision of the Vice President in charge of education and regional development, subsequent to the proposal of the Admissions Services.
5 Accepted students must confirm whether they accept the offered study place within the timeframe specified in the acceptance notification or they will lose their place. Student selection is conditional until original certificates have been verified. In cases where applicants fail to submit the necessary certificates within the specified timeframe or the adjusted points do not qualify for acceptance, the admittance is cancelled. Those dissatisfied with the outcome of the selection process may submit their appeal to Laurea Management Team within 14 days of receipt of the decision. Section 6. Acceptance as a transfer student Students of another university of applied sciences may apply for the transfer of their study entitlement to Laurea (same degree, same degree title, same or equivalent degree programme). Transfers can be applied for after completion of the first semester. Transfer students must have completed at least 27 credits in each finished term at the previous institution while registered as present. Transfer students working toward a Master's degree must have completed at least 15 credits per finished term at the previous institution. In cases where there are more transfer applicants than available places, selection will be made on the basis of suitability, credit accumulation and academic achievement. The students status as transfer students is conditional until they withdraw from the previous university of applied sciences and the credits have been verified from the official transcript of records provided by the previous institution. The application period for transfers is in April and November. Decisions on transfer student admissions are made by the campus Director of Educational and Regional Development Unit or a person appointed by him/her. Where Master's degrees are concerned, the decision is made by the Director of Master's Degree Studies or a person appointed by him/her. Section 7. Changing the degree programme, campus or unit within Laurea Students may request to change their degree programme, primary campus or field of studies after completion of the first semester. Students can apply to change their campus within their own degree programme. Changing field of studies is possible provided that the eligibility of the student is verified, the prerequisites for the completion of studies remains unchanged and study progress in the new unit is assured. Students requesting to change to another campus must have completed a minimum of 23 credits/semester in the previous campus while registered as present (However, Laurea may consider the number of credits at its own discretion). The application periods are in May and December. Decisions on transferring a student's study entitlement to another unit are taken by the campus Director of Educational and Regional Development Unit or a person appointed by him/her.
6 3 REGISTRATION AND STUDY ENTITLEMENT Section 8. Academic year The academic year at Laurea begins on 1 August and ends on 31 July. Students may complete their studies for the entire duration of the academic year. Section 9. Registration as present or absent Everyone who has been accepted as a student and accepts a place at the university of applied sciences must register at the university of applied sciences following the procedures and timetable set forth by the university of applied sciences, after which he or she will be entered on the list of students. Students must register themselves as present or absent each academic year in compliance with the regulations set by the university of applied sciences. Students can, for justifiable reasons, change their registration status as present or absent during the academic year. (Polytechnics Act 326/2014, section 29). Registration as absent New students who have accepted a place and registered as absent must complete their registration in the following academic year by the date announced by the university. Please consider the following if registering as absent: Students may register as absent each academic year for no less than one semester at a time. Within their study entitlement periods, students may register as absent for a maximum of four semesters. Students who have exceeded their study entitlement period cannot register as absent. Students who have registered as absent for one academic year may officially return to their studies by registering as present at the beginning of the spring semester. No academic achievements can be added to students records during their period of absence nor may they receive guidance from Laurea. Students are responsible for the continuation of their studies. It is possible that provision of studies or training in line with the student's study plan has terminated or that the studies are not offered each year. Section 10. Study entitlement period The duration of studies leading to a Bachelor's degree is determined according to the scope of the degree programme. A degree programme with a scope of 210 credits has a duration of 3.5 years. Similarly, a degree programme of 240 credits has a duration of 4 years. The study entitlement period for a 90-credit degree programme leading to a Master's degree is 1.5 years.
7 Full-time student must complete their studies by no more than one year longer than the duration of studies. A period of absence extends the study entitlement period by the length of the absence period, but so that the total period of absence may not exceed two academic years. Students are required to submit a report of the studies exceeding the normative duration of study to the campus Head of Student Affairs and, in Master's degree programmes, to the Master's degree Education Planner by no later than two months before the end of the normative duration of study. The report must include a plan and schedule for the completion of studies. The report must be based on a reviewed study plan and approved by a tutor/student counsellor or equivalent. Section 11. Discretionary extension of the study entitlement period Students who are unable to complete their studies during their study entitlement period may request for extended time to complete their studies. The student must present the specific reasons for applying for an extension. An extension of the study entitlement period may be granted only if completion during the extension is realistic. Extensions may primarily be granted only once and for no more than one year. An extension will not be granted if the student has already earned the required amount of credits for the degree. Decisions on discretionary extension of the study entitlement period are made by the Director of Educational and Regional Development Unit. Where Master's degrees are concerned, the decision is made by the Director of Master's Degree Studies or a person appointed by him/her. A processing fee will be charged for processing of the application pursuant to Government Decree 1230/2009. Section 12. Loss of study entitlement Based on a failure to register Students who fail to register as present or absent during their study entitlement will lose their study entitlement. If these students would like to begin or resume their studies at a later time, they must re-apply to the university to restore their study entitlement (Act 932/2014, section 32). Based on expiration of the study entitlement period Students who have not completed their studies during the study entitlement period and have not applied for an extension for the completion of their studies will lose their study entitlement and be registered as resigned. The study entitlement of students who have not been granted an extension will be declared expired and the student will be registered as resigned. Section 13. Restoring the study entitlement Students who have lost their study entitlement under the circumstances specified in Section 12 above, may apply for restoration of their study entitlement. Study entitlement periods may only
8 be restored in cases where the student is able to complete the studies within the remaining study entitlement period after re-establishment. Decisions on restoring the study entitlement are made by the campus Director of Educational and Regional Development Unit or a person appointed by him/her. In Master's degree programmes, the decision is made by the Director of Master's Degree Studies or a person appointed by him/her. A processing fee will be charged for processing of the application pursuant to Government Decree 1230/2009. Students who are dissatisfied with the decision on the loss and extension of the study entitlement period may file an appeal with the Laurea Management Team within 14 days of receiving the decision. Students may contest the decision made by the Laurea Management Team by filing an appeal with the Helsinki Administrative Court within 30 days of receiving the decision. Section 14. Cancelling and restoring the study entitlement in Social Services and Health Care The university of applied sciences has the right to cancel the study entitlement of a student in social services and health care if, by endangering the health or safety of others, the student has proven to be unsuitable for practical tasks or practical studies relating to the programme. Other grounds for cancellation include cases where a student has at the application stage failed to notify of a previous cancellation decision, or a student has been convicted of an offence that may hinder working with minors. Decisions on cancelling or restoring a study entitlement are made by the Laurea Board. Before the decision to cancel a study entitlement, necessary reports must be acquired relating to the case and the student must be offered an opportunity to be heard. The university of applied sciences must together with the student clarify opportunities to apply for or transfer to some other degree programme. Cancelled study entitlement may be restored upon request by students, if the study entitlement has been cancelled on the basis of a factor relating to their medical or functional condition and the applicants are able to prove that these factors no longer exist. Students may appeal the decisions relating to cancelling or restoring their study entitlement to the students' legal protection board within 14 days of receipt of notification of the decision. After this, appeals may file with the Helsinki Administrative Court. 4 COMPLETION OF STUDIES Section 15. Personal study plan Students draw up a personal study plan within the framework of the degree programme's degree structure and curriculum. Students are entitled to complete the studies leading to a Bachelor's or Master's degree in line with the relevant degree programme and corresponding curriculum and personal study plan, within the recommended duration of the studies. Students maintain their personal study plan in the SoleHops system, and it is revised annually with the tutor. Students have the right to receive guidance for drawing up the study plan.
9 Section 16. Recognition of prior learning Credit transfer A student may have previous higher education studies completed in Finland, abroad or at another higher education institution recognised as well as replace degree programme studies with other, equivalent studies. Credit transfers do not apply to studies that are prerequisites for the degree programme. Studies from another educational institution are recognised in line with the objectives of the degree programme curriculum. Studies from another educational institution are recognised insofar as they correspond to studies in the degree programme, the defined competence generated by the degree programme or are suitable for the degree programme in some other way. Decision on the recognition of studies are made by the campus Director of Educational and Regional Development Unit or a person appointed by him/her. Where Master's degrees are concerned, the decision is made by the Director of Master's Degree Studies or a person appointed by him/her. Accreditation of prior competence Students initiate accreditation of prior competence. Accreditation is carried out by the lecturer in charge of the module or study unit or other campus Director of Educational and Regional Development Unit or a person appointed by him/her. Assessment adheres to the criteria and grading scale adopted for the corresponding study unit or entity. Students may request accreditation of prior competence regardless of where, how and when the competence has been acquired. Students may also include competence acquired on the job as part of the studies (work-based learning). Accredited competence must be in line with the objectives of the degree programme. Students are responsible for demonstrating and proving their competence and providing sufficient related information. Decisions on accreditation are mainly taken at the beginning of studies, although students may request accreditation for prior competence throughout their studies. Section 17. Credit transfer of international exchange studies Students participating in international exchanges must complete and sign the Learning Agreement form before departure. Studies completed abroad during the study period are recognised on the basis of the received Transcript of Records or other certificate. The credit transfer application must be submitted to within a month of receipt of the Transcript of Records certificate. Studies can be recognised as equivalent to corresponding study units in Laurea's curricula or included under elective studies.
10 Section 18. Participation in instruction and guidance Studies and instruction are arranged through study units or projects. Students have the right and obligation to participate in the degree programme's study units or projects, so that the learning outcomes are met. If there is compulsory attendance for a study unit, this must be specified in the study unit implementation plan. Students are obligated to cancel any study unit for which they have registered, so that other students on the waiting list may be admitted in their place. The curricula of the degree programme describe the learning outcomes of modules and study units. The implementation plan of each study unit describes the study methods to be used in greater detail. If prior competence has been specified for completion of a study unit or project, the student will be required to demonstrate this competence before the study unit/project begins. Students are entitled to personal study guidance throughout their studies. Students are obliged to take part in study guidance and assume responsibility for the progress of their studies. Section 19. Language skills Students must demonstrate that they have acquired, through their studies at Laurea or elsewhere: 1) the necessary skills in Finnish and Swedish required by the Act on the Knowledge of Languages Required of Personnel in Public Bodies (424/2003) for practising a profession for which a higher education degree is required, in a bilingual area, and which are needed for further professional development (497/2004); and 2) the necessary oral and written skills in one or two foreign languages for practising the profession and for further professional development. The terms specified in section 1 of the above Act do not apply to students who have received their formal education in a language other than Finnish or Swedish or who have received their formal education abroad. In such cases, these students must provide an account of the formal education received in a language other than Finnish or Swedish or abroad and submit an application presenting the grounds for exemption from language skills requirements. The student's language skills are specified on the degree certificate. Students can be exempted from the language requirements, in whole or in part, for special reasons, such as in the case of diagnosed dyslexia. Exempted students must complete an equivalent number of credits in other studies. Section 20. Registration for studies All students must enrol for their chosen study units during the prescribed registration period. Registration for projects is continuous. Only students registered as present may enrol for studies (study units or projects).
11 Decisions on acceptance for studies are made when the registration period has ended. Generally, the order of registration is not a selection criterion for participation in studies. Students are selected for participation according to the following criteria (listed in order of importance): Students from the campus offering the study unit/project of a compulsory core competence module take priority. Fulfilment of the prerequisites set in the curriculum for the studies. The studies (study unit or project) are part of the students' compulsory core competence module and included in their personal study plan. Starting date of studies and completed number of credits (i.e. students who started their studies in an earlier year and who have completed a greater number of credits will take precedence). If there are any places remaining for studies belonging to a core competence module after the above criteria have been fulfilled, they will be filled based on the order of enrolment. Students whose approved study plan includes the studies in question are accepted for a complimentary competence module in the order of enrolment. A study unit or project may be cancelled if there are not enough students enrolled. Section 21. Grading Competence evaluation is based on the objectives set in the curricula. Study units, parts of implementation and projects are graded on a scale of 1-5. The grade for a study unit/project will be 0 if students do not achieve the requirements for passing. Some study units, parts of implementation or projects can also be graded simply as Pass/Fail (H/0). Detailed assessment criteria are described in the study unit implementation plan. Project assessment criteria are agreed upon at the beginning of a project. The completion of compulsory practical studies is recorded as a Pass grade (H). The completion of some study units/projects involves an examination, whose schedules are included in the study unit implementation plan. Students do not need to sign up for official examinations. Failure to turn up for an official examination is counted as one attempt. Each student who receives a place for a study unit or project is assessed. Grades from study units, parts of implementation and projects are recorded in the WinhaPro system. The lecturer in charge of each study unit is responsible for ensuring that all grades are recorded in the WinhaPro system at the latest one month after they were obtained. The date associated with the grade is the date on which the student completed the evaluated task. Grades are published in the students' personal study plan. Students are given an opportunity to view their grades in written or other form. Grades recorded in written or other form must be kept for at least six months after their posting (Act 26/2014, section 37). At his/her own discretion, a lecturer may return all assessed assignments after six months. Other assignments may be returned to students after notification of grading.
12 Students have the right during their studies, upon request, to receive a transcript of records indicating the completed studies and grading. Section 22. Appeals Students who are dissatisfied with the results of the assessment of their studies or the recognition of credits or otherwise demonstrated competences must request, verbally or in writing, a reassessment of the results from the lecturer who carried out the assessment or person who approved the recognition of credits. Studies comprehend completed study units/projects, theses and placement. Students must submit requests for reassessment within 14 days of having access to the results of the assessment of their studies and the criteria used in making the assessment. Appeals concerning the recognition of credits must be filed within 14 days of receiving the decision. Students who are dissatisfied with the verbal or written reply they receive may appeal to the Laurea Board of Examiners within 14 days of receiving the reply to their request for reassessment from the lecturer in question. (Act 932/2014, section 57). No appeals may be filed for decisions made by the Board of Examiners. Any bias problems related to tutoring relationships between the lecturer and student in question should be handled verbally between the parties concerned, requesting assistance, if necessary, from the Director of Educational and Regional Development Unit or a person appointed by him/her. Section 23. Retakes and improving grades Students who have failed examinations or assignments set as conditions for passing a study unit must supplement their work or retake examinations as required by the lecturer in charge. In project studies, students must supplement their project assignments until the project has been acceptably completed. Retakes of examinations for study units are offered by Laurea. Students must register for retake examinations no later than 10 days before the scheduled retake date. Failed exams or other assignments may be retaken twice on one of the two general exam dates specified by the lecturer in charge. Students who fail both retakes must retake the whole study unit as specified by the lecturer in charge. Students have one attempt to improve pass grades. Attempts to improve pass grades always involve the whole study unit. The attempt must take place within the next six months from the original date. Attempts must be agreed with the lecturer. The higher of the two grades will be valid. Students successfully passing a study unit may not retake that study unit. Passed thesis grades cannot be changed. Section 24. Expiry of studies The expiry of studies is determined in relation to the competence objectives specified in the curriculum. Individual study units/projects completed at Laurea generally expire in ten years
13 from the date on which the grade for the study unit was obtained, unless the competences can otherwise be demonstrated through their recognition. As a rule, studies older than ten years cannot be recognised as part of a degree. However, students are given an opportunity to demonstrate their competence in a manner agreed upon with the lecturer. Section 25. Degree certificate Laurea provides graduates with degree certificates certifying the degrees they have completed and an attached certificate of credits. The degree certificate is issued in the language of instruction of the corresponding degree programme. The degree certificate indicates the completed degree, its scope, degree title, degree programme title (specialisation option for students who began their studies in the spring of 2014 or earlier) and main content of the degree. The degree certificate is signed by Laurea's President and Vice President of Education and Regional Development. Students graduating from degree programmes offered in Finnish will receive degree certificates in Finnish, as well as English translations. Students graduating from degree programmes offered in English will receive certificates in English, as well as Finnish translations. The appendix to the degree certificate indicates the credits and grades. Other possible appendices to Laurea's degree certificates are decided by the Vice President of Education and Regional Development. Without requiring a separate request and at no charge, all graduates receive an international Diploma Supplement, which includes information on the university of applied sciences, the completed degree and related studies and credits (Transcript of Records) as well as their level and position in the Finnish higher education system. 5 OTHER REGULATIONS Section 26. Informing students Laurea provides information on study-related matters to students through the Laurea's IT environment (Laurea LIVE). Information on matters related to individual study units and projects is provided using information channels agreed upon with the lecturer. Students are obligated to monitor the aforementioned information channels and ensure that their contact details are up to date throughout their studies. Section 27. Accessible learning and operating environment Laurea is committed to promoting accessible studies in accordance with the Non-Discrimination Act. Education and guidance are arranged in a way that seeks to consider the individual skills of students in completing their studies. Section 28. Security, safety and discipline Each and every member of the Laurea student body and staff is obligated to ensure a safe and pleasant work environment by observing the general guidelines on conduct and discipline as well as the principles of good behaviour.
14 Laurea students must demonstrate proper conduct. Use of intoxicants and showing up under their influence during study time is prohibited. Students found to be cheating in an examination are removed from the examination by the supervisor and the examination is graded as a fail. Plagiarism relating to assignments, theses or other materials is prohibited and results in a fail. Laurea applies the guidelines for good scientific practice and the handling of their infringement published by the National Advisory Board on Research Ethics in Finland, appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Students who have been found guilty of fraud or deception, disturbance or improper conduct may be penalised by a written warning or temporary suspension for a maximum of one year. Before rendering a decision on the matter, the act or case of negligence in question must be stated, a sufficient inquiry must be conducted and the student in question must be offered an opportunity to state his/her case. Decisions on a written warning are made by Laurea's President, while decisions on temporary suspensions are made by the Laurea Board (further information provided in section 39 of the Polytechnics Act, 932/2014). Section 29. Financial Aid Committee The Laurea Board approves the Financial Aid Committee bylaws, which specify the composition, term and operating procedures of the Committee. The duties of the Financial Aid Committee are: 1) to monitor study progress and submit statements on study progress on its own initiative or upon the request of the Social Insurance Institution or the student him/herself; 2) to define the adequate scope for studies undertaken in the summer 3) to provide, on its own initiative or upon request by the student or the National Social Insurance Institution (Kela), statements on whether the period for student financial aid can be extended for students who have received student financial aid for the maximum duration. Section 30. Student Union Laurea's student union Laureamko is a statutory, independent student association. Its tasks include selecting student representatives to the Laurea Board and other bodies within the university of applied sciences and to function as a communication channel between students and the university administration. Protection of interests focuses on matters falling under education and social policy. Section 31 Entry into force These degree regulations shall enter into force on 1 January 2015 and replace the previous Laurea University of Applied Sciences degree regulations.
