2 1. Helping to look after yourself. This is about getting better at home by yourself, or with help from your carer. If you have: Hangover. Grazed Knee. Coughs and Colds. Sore Throat. 2
3 You may have medicines at home to help you feel better. If you need advice on looking after your health you can also telephone our free healthline on to get advice or help. You can also visit your free NHS healthpoint at: Aberdeen Indoor Market. Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Hot Spot, 1-3 Kirk Street, Peterhead. Dr Grays, Elgin. 58A High Street, Fraserburgh. 3
4 2. If you have a long term illness. The Healthpoint staff can give you help and advice about: How to cope with stress in your daily life. Local support groups. To find out more. 5 3. Help from your chemist. A chemist can help you. They know about medicines and how to use them. They will advise you what to do if you are ill. You will need to tell the chemist if you take any tablets. You do not need an appointment to see a chemist. Go to a chemist if you have: Coughs or Colds. Aches and Pains. If you have not had a poo or a pee for a long time. 5
6 4. Help from your GP. If you are ill for a few days and not getting better, ring your GP and make a time to see them. They will give you advice. They may also give you a form to get some medicine or tablets from a chemist. Go to your GP if you have: Backache. Sickness. Ear Pain. Or another problem you have had for a few days. 6
7 5. If you are too ill to wait until your GP is open. Telephone NHS They will help you. 7
8 6. Help from your Minor Injuries Unit. If you have a minor injury, you should go to the Minor Injury Unit. They are open 24 hours a day. Go to the Minor Injury Unit if you have: Cuts, small burns. Sprains. If you think you have a broken bone. There are Minor Injury Units at: 8
