The Firm s involvement included negotiating with the principals of the former proprietors for the purchase of the properties, due diligence, assisting in the management of transitional issues, planning and redevelopment of the property and the provision of legal services associated with ongoing development of the property. 4 SMITHS GORE SMITHS GORE Smiths Gore opened its first overseas office in the British Virgin Islands in 1965 and has since expanded its activities into North America, Europe, Malaysia, Brunei and Australia. The United Kingdom practice was founded in London in 1845 and currently operates from sixteen offices throughout England and Scotland. While the Caribbean practice continues to be based in the BVI, instructions generally within the Caribbean region have included: Valuations on behalf of FirstCaribbean International Bank Debt Recovery unit throughout the Caribbean Economic feasibility notably in the resort and marina sectors.
