7 Aurasma Aurasma is much more interactive and a little more difficult to learn, but once you get the hang of it can be a powerful teaching tool. It provides a platform for student to interact with their work. Aurasma can make a word wall, or student poster presentation come alive. It allows for the integration of several different types of media to layer or interact within the same platform. The options with Aurasma are endless.
8 Want to play on Aurasma For this training, you can play on the Aurasma Studio with: Username: Region13 Password: Region13 Or you can create your own, and follow Sheltered Instruction created by ahand Scan this QR code to go directly to the website.
9 Step 1: Take a picture This will become your Trigger image Qualities of a good Trigger images: Tonal variation and contrast Unique shapes and forms Lots of detail across the entire image Upload your image to the Aurasma Studio website under the Trigger icon Scan this QR code to go directly to the website.
10 Step 2: Add an Overlay An Overlay is the digital content that a user is presented with when viewing an Aura. This can include videos, images, 3D scenes, web pages or any combination of them. Upload this information into the Overlay icon
11 Step 3: Make an Aura An aura is the combination of the Trigger and Overlays that will be seen when a device is held over the picture. The easiest place to build these is in the Aurasma Studio. You can add multiple layers and websites to an Aura.
12 Step 4: Create and Share your Channel Name your Channel and assign as many Auras as you want to it. For schools, you can make your Channel private so only people you share it with can have access. Once someone follows your channel all the additions and changes will be automatic on their device.
13 Look how Aurasma is being used in schools.
14 QR Codes QR codes are and easy way to link homework or a worksheet to a website or more information. These can be helpful in creating homework tutorials or to reiterate directions for students who may have forgotten what was discussed in class. For beginners and intermediates, QR codes can link to recorded versions of the reading that allow them the option to listen to it as many times as they need.
15 Try it out!! See how easy it is to create a voice thread within a QR code.
16 Provide students with the correct pronunciation of words.
17 Talking Walls Have students add a voice thread to explain their work.
18 Have students take a spelling test. Allowing students the opportunity to hear the word as many times as they need to will help your ELLs. It also allows students to complete the test at their own pace.
19 ecord yourself reading the questions Beginner and Intermediate ELLs struggle with reading comprehension. Recording yourself reading the questions for them on homework or class assignments can help them to understand and complete their work.

23 Tellagami Tellagami is a free app that allows students to either record their voice or type the information in to the program to create a digital voice over. It is a non threatening way to produce short presentations that can be integrated into QR codes or the Aurasma experience.
