James D. Sargent (professor of Pediatrics at Dartmouth Medical School in Lebanon, NH, USA, and director of the Cancer Control Research Program in Hanover, NH, USA). Prof. dr. James D. Sargent is a leading expert on media influences on risk behaviours in children and adolescents. In collaboration with him and his research group, I conducted a study on the interplay between parental adult-rated movie restrictions and children s sensation seeking in explaining smoking initiation which is published in Pediatrics. Other academic activities Valorisation activities Our department of Developmental Psychopathology closely collaborates with STIVORO en the Trimbos Institute. Until so far, these collaborations led to changes in foci in prevention programs. Specifically, the findings from me and my colleagues, in collaboration with STIVORO, has resulted in the campaign Kind naar de brugklas? Praat nu over roken [ Child to junior high? Talk now about smoking ]. Moreover, our findings have been used as input for the development of the intervention Praten met uw kind [ Talking with your child ] within the Trimbos Institute. In the last years, we did some press releases in order to present the findings from my thesis to a larger audience. See Media Appearances for an overview. This academic year (2011/2012) the study Pedagogy started with a new curriculum. Within this curriculum, the course is still given in almost the same form as I designed it, now called Pedagogics. 11

Supervision of a pilot class Docent of one of the pilot classes for the Dutch version of the Penn Resiliency Program, a cognitive behavioural depression prevention program for late elementary and middle school students developed by prof. dr.
