The average care home has 18.4 beds but the average carfe home with nursing has 45.6 places with 81% being in the private sector. Between 2006-2009 number of care only homes decreased by 6%, but the number of homes providing nursing care increased by 4%; and domicilliary care agencies grown by 29%. It is estimated that 10-15% of carfe homes and 20% of domicilliary care agencies has not met the qualifications related National Minimum Standards.
