Detroit Public Schools Graduating Senior Compact Information Forms To the graduating senior scholar The following information will help you to determine if you qualify for Compact College funding and provide you with the forms needed to apply for funding for a four-year college program or a community college/job training program. Below are the colleges, universities and job training sites that are in the Compact program. For Compact funds, first, you will need to make your choice for your post-high school education from this list. QUALIFICATIONS FOR COMPACT FUNDS In order to qualify for Compact financial assistance, students must meet requirements that are based on the type of post-high school education you are seeking. Four Year College Requirements 95% Attendance 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA A score of 21 or higher on ACT (990 SAT) No major violations of the Student Code of Conduct Meet requirements for college admission Filed a Financial Aid form (www.fafsa.ed.gov) Community College/Job Training Requirements 95% Attendance 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher A score of 18 or higher on ACT (900 SAT) or at the 40 th percentile on standardize tests in reading and math No major violations of Student Code of Conduct Meet requirements for college/job training admission Filed a Financial Aid form (www.fafsa.ed.gov) If you have met all the requirements for Compact college/university or job training assistance, you must compile the requested information, complete the forms for the type of school you plan to attend and send all of the information to the Compact Coordinator at your school, or to Dr. Joyce M. Tibbs, Supervisor of Special Initiatives, 3 rd Floor Albert Kahn Bldg., 7430 Second Ave., Detroit, 48202, no later than May 1 st. Important: Some students may not qualify for a complete financial package and might need to find other sources of funds. 2

DETROIT COMPACT TWO AND FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE SCHOLARS AWARD DEFERRAL REQUEST FORM (Please Print) Deferral of the Compact Tuition Assistance Award is only permitted under certain circumstances (e.g. military duty, pregnancies, illnesses/hospitalization, and other extenuating circumstances). A deferral will not be allowed because a scholar has chosen to attend a non-compact institution or higher education. A deferral granted under the permitted circumstances will expire one year after the scholar s high school graduation date. Please explain the reason for your deferral request: Documentation may be requested to support your request for a deferral. TO THE COMPACT SCHOLAR During early August of next year, you will receive a letter from the Detroit Regional Chamber, the governing agency for the Compact College Assistance Award. The Director of Scholarships and Workforce Preparedness, Robert Troutman or his assistant, Chiquita Lawler, will be your contact from that point on.
