In 1945 Max Gort-Barten - the great German entrepreneur - founded Dualit in England. He is the designer behind the first Dualit product - a six-slice toaster with a built-in timer (the first of its kind in 1952), which is a resemblance of today s Vario toaster. Dualit has grown and expanded since then by gradually improving and extending the product range of commercial toasters and by adding other related products. Dualit constantly focuses on innovation and today it produces a range of kitchen and home appliances, which remain firmly rooted in the values that Max planted in the company culture since the very beginning. Max s son Leslie Gort-Barten is in charge of the company today. Leslie is well known for creating reliable, well-engineered products, which are instantly recognizable and carry a nostalgic retro feeling. Seletti is a story of vision and evolution. It was established in 1964, in Cicognara, Mantova by Romano Seletti, who was an expert in international business. Since 1972 Romano travelled extensively to the Far East, especially across China. He shared the road with Luigi Goglio and this new venture allowed Romano to become a true pioneer in the import of products for home: accessories in bamboo, tableware and cloths typical Chinese products of the era. The next generation of Seletti family (Stefano and Miria) brought new energy to the business. Stefano Seletti, aged 17 and still a student, started to accompany his father on his business trips to China, India and Thailand, which enriched him with new horizons and cultures that made a lasting impression on his future, both professionally and personally. Expanding new horizons and new ideas, Stefano Seletti began to play around with new materials - the fine porcelain and borosilicate tableware collection Estetico Quotidiano is a great example (the name of the collection is also a statement of the company s new philosophy). It has become a classic and has repositioned single use items into fine object pieces. Enthusiasm, passion, creativity and experimentation - the Seletti family over time has created a brand recognized all over the world with series of collections that have revealed design classics. The company placed its headquarters in Cicognara, Italy. As Stefano states the process is evolving once again we have gone from large quantities of large distribution systems to small quantities of selected designs. Today, we have reinvented the process. My attention is focused on making popular products with high level of creativity and artistry, at a reasonable price. Today, Seletti is working with young Italian and international designers, who are quickly making their own mark, the desire is to create a group that can grow and evolve together, a challenge, that, so far, is producing great results. The founder of Dulton is Sasamoto Yasuaki. Mr. Sasamoto was born in 1952. He studied Architecture in University of Japan and after graduating, he moved to The US. Later on he began designing small house accessories and afterwards designed watches for a Swiss watch company. Finally, he established DULTON CO., LTD. in Japan in 1989.
