Data Center Infrastructure & Managed Services Outline The 360 Technology Center Solutions Data Center is located in Lombard, IL, USA. We are 20 minutes outside of downtown Chicago. The 360TCS staff consists of a group of handpicked data center professional possessing over 50 years combined experience in data center and managed service solutions. security and reliability. The brief outline below should answer most of your questions regarding any design, provisioning, network redundancy and security issues. In the event of you require any additional information, please feel free to contact our Director of Sales / Account Relations: Don Welbourn 888-313- 1306 dwelbourn@360tcs.com Provisioning & Design Electrical Grid The 360TCS Data Center is powered by two separate Utility (ComEd) feeds with an automated transfer configuration at the Utility level making the loss of primary power an extremely unlikely event. Each of our custom made, 42U, extra wide / extra deep cabinets feature 4 individual power circuits on two separate feeds (A/B). Each circuit can deliver 30A/208V on separate breakers providing full redundancy. All circuits are protected by automated UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and power generator fail- over. UPS & Generator The UPS farm is designed to provide an N+1 redundancy level and has maintenance management switching permitting maintenance on the unit without disruption to the internal power grid. The UPS also has automated fail over sensors to detect variations in power supply from the power source, it will automatically send a signal to the power generator, which will switch on and gradually regulate the power to the circuit. If brownouts occur, the UPS will regulate power itself automatically as well. The UPS was designed to remain active for approximately 18 minutes, assuming the Data Center is occupied at maximum capacity. Currently the UPS has sufficient power to remain active for 30 minutes. It typically takes the power generator less than 16 seconds minutes to become fully active and act as primary power source. This provides a large
margin for the switch over, avoiding any unplanned outages. This process is completely automated. With three battery strings per unit, the UPS comes with redundancy built in. The system undergoes scheduled maintenance and testing including annual testing to ensure operation during actual interruption. Our 2.5MW, Caterpillar 16 cylinder diesel generator is housed in its own enclosure ensuring an optimum environment for operations and nullifying any concerns posed due to its 2500 gallon liquid fuel source. The generator can run continuously for up to 24 hours at full capacity without re- fuelling. The generator undergoes weekly testing, monthly maintenance ensure its continued operation. Multiple suppliers of diesel fuel have been secured in the event that an outage exceeds operational standards and a re- fuelling of the generator is required. HVAC & Environment Control 360TCS maintains a median temperature of 67-72 degrees Fahrenheit in the Data Center irrespective of the occupation level of the cabinets. The cabinet layouts are designed according to a Hot/Cold aisle system raised floor. Our environmentally efficient, closed loop chilled water HVAC system design allows us the ability to effectively cool over 40kW of power consumption per cabinet. The AEAS (Automated Environment Alert System) notifies staff of any temperature variations above 72 degrees. The entire HVAC system has dual components providing redundancy in the event of a failure. The entire system undergoes a monthly maintenance and review cycle to verify optimal operation. Fire Suppression The 360TCS Data Center has redundant fire suppression systems. Our primary system is a Novec 1230 Pre- Engineered Clean Agent Extinguishing System. Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is a colorless, non- toxic fluid. It is stored as a pressurized liquid and injected into the Data Center which has the structural integrity to retain the agent that has been discharged. Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is dispensed as an odorless, electrically non- conductive vapor. It leaves no residue. Novec 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is a clean, efficient fire- extinguishing agent that can be used on types A, B, or C fires. It is a very stable, inert and electrically non- conductive gas. Our secondary system is a zoned, multi- stage, interlocking Pre- Action Fire Suppression System that employs the basic concept of a dry pipe system. Water is held from piping by an electrically operated valve, known as a pre- action valve. Valve operation is controlled by independent flame, heat, or smoke detection. Two separate events must happen to initiate sprinkler discharge. First, the detection system must identify a developing fire and then open the pre- action valve. This allows water to flow into system piping, which effectively creates a wet pipe sprinkler system. Second, individual sprinkler heads must release to permit water flow onto the fire.
Both systems are designed to: 1. Prevent accidental tripping of the system by requiring multiple fire causing inputs. 2. Automate notification of any danger permitting an orderly shutdown of systems prior to initiation of fire suppression preventing permanent system damage. Security & Access Controls Our own on- site security staff patrols the 360TCS Data Center 24x7x365. The facility has 34 closed circuit cameras covering all aisles, entry & exit points, as well as the entire external perimeter. Images are recorded securely and stored for 30 days. Authorized access is available 24x7x365 and is controlled through key card reader in combination with a biometrically controlled fingerprint scan. Standardized Tier System Comparison Chart The Uptime Institute and several other sources maintain a standard description of various levels of Data Center redundancy. SSAE- 16 360TCS is currently involved in and SSAE 16 Type II audit. The audit process covers a six month period that began in November 2010 and will be complete in May 2011. SSAE 16 replaces the SAS 70 Type II standard, which will no longer be valid starting June 15, 2011. SSAE 16 assures customers that their data is protected by the most current industry standards. Network Design With multiple carrier feeds available, the 360 TCS private fiber ring includes nodes in the Midwest's primary Telco hubs providing a variety of options for reliable connectivity and accessibility. At 360 TCS, we understand the importance of 100% availability alongside low- latency and high bandwidth. As a carrier neutral facility, 360 TCS provides access to multiple providers for connectivity resources. Multi- Path OSPF switches to eliminate single point of failure Redundant switching equipment at every level. Pre- run and tested multi- structured cabling. As carrier neutral facility, Customers who wish to use an independent carrier either as their primary or secondary connection have that option as well.
