9. Please describe specifically what you found difficult using the UR Self Service System? Text Response Searching for classes is extremely time consuming, and it often requires you to restart your search every time you click onto any class to see more information. It is so weak. They need to completely redo this website and make it into the U of S website look. Myself and hundreds of other u of r students were talking and saying how confusing this website is and how it needs to be redone and improved. Just horrible. A student shoudln't have to waste their time trying to find a certain website or page for ex. their classe, or email instead of reading a textbook. The u of r websites layout is confusing about where to access information and it was confusing knowing where to attain and apply information Difficult to utilize and decipher where to go Confusing trying to figure out how to wait-list. It is not userfriendly and hard to navigate-not straightforward. searching for classes is not user friendly It is difficult when it constantly says that my changes have been submitted and I have to go through the whole processes of selecting class options over again. Lack of classes to choose from in the Social Work society, very unprofessional at this level. It is confusing and require so many passwords. I came from using paws website with uofs and there program is very simple and straight forward. making the scehual fit It was annoying to have to search and add classes one at a time, not being able to tell if the classes selected conflict. 16. Class scheduling could be improved by: Text Response Being able to register for both terms at the same time, maybe students are dual students at the U of S and it is really difficult to organize our schedules for the full term at one school and not the other. Allowing distant ed students first pick of the online classes On self service, it glitches when you are searching for a class and you have to go all the way back to the home page and start over because it will not let you search otherwise Other universities allow students to register well in advance (have a look at University of Manitoba), would like to see that to save some stress trying to find classes just two months before the semester starts. It's a huge issue for those of us who are parents. just for social work specifically since not many electivw are offered...to at least know what will be offered in winter to help plan for the year would be helpful Knowing two semesters at a time registering for all classes in june every year Being able to register these all at once. Once a year, just like the u of s. So much easier. Having both terms available to register for at the start of the year More selection of classes offered more web based courses yes UR self service sometimes is confusing Releasing the winter and summer schedule earlier. UofS releases their entire year schedule (Fall to Summer) before the UofR releases one singular semester schedule for students to plan their year/future preparation fo their career. Offering more online classes. there is no improvements right now Allowing students to access to see what classes are offered for each term sooner it's good :) Offering classes consistently in both semesters and more online/blended classes for students living out of Regina/Saskatoon in Fall/Winter semesters. Especially social work classes, its frustrating not being able to have options in both semesters for required classes and very limited options for electives. offering more online and televised classes and seeing winter and summer/spring classes at the same time Making it easier for students to pick classes, get on waitlists, be eligible for the classes they need. More options of class times, Giving more choices on classes and moe flexible schedule offering the same class in different times Student Advisor To be able to register for the entire school year's classes in March. N/a Showing classes offered in the winter when registering in the fall Being able to see classes offered though out the year, not just a term at a time having a search that can show all classes that apply to your degree sorted by campus and delivery. a more detailed seach It is difficult taking two degrees in two different faculties but only being able to be considered taking one degree so requirements for my second degree I have to wait for the time slot to open to general even though I am required to take that class at sometime so it is difficult with a single class of only 25 spots that I have to wait to register for which causes me to lose a lot of time and it is also very frustrating. More help with choosing classes shorter class times, more online Allowing distance students to register first. Having blended classes listed under televised on UR self Serve allowing earlier registration for winter classes allowing me to do it earlier, i always am in the last grouping it seems and social work classes fill up quickly Being able to work from a timetable rather than a list. Or have the timetable open in a separate window that updates as you add classes. The U of A has a good system! monitoring them giving enough time to get to classes if you are in different universities to get to class 5 or 10 minutes is not enough time in bad weather conditions Total Responses 38
17. Do you have any other comments related to registration and class scheduling you would like to share? Text Response More class options in the summer would be great, specifically for required courses in the Social Work department, not just electives. Thanks. More opportunities for distant ed, such as more online classes and televised classes to complete our degrees More online classes! Course offerings are quite poor. I have to attend another University to complete my degree. no no This U of R website needs to be redone completely. It is just a horrible website, that is absolutely frustrating. Over 100 university students, and even tech u of R guys I have spoken to at the u of R feel it should be fixed and redone! Look at the U of S for a good example of how to do this site properly. I am also a student at the u of s and they have a phenomenal system, look into what they do Inadequate number of faculty professors and unbelievable lack of social work electives not at this time earlier acceptance Classes need to be offered to places around the province. Being a resident of a smaller community, I must commut to larger urban centers simply because the university fails in their attempt to offer a program through a smaller city/ and/or town. Due to what classes being offered and which ones i need i have had to set back my graduation time. This is discouraging and i wish there was more online choices or choices in general. Most classes fill up fast and i find myself stressed to whether or not ill have a chance getting into the ones that are offered while waiting for my registration date. no Post class offerings sooner so a person could plan. For instance, post following spring and summer classes towards end of november the previous year. I can't plan the winter term without seeing the spring offerings no Registration is alright. It could be better and easier to understand. Being able to look ahead before registration is really helpful though. Class scheduling is hard when you need to be able to work during the semester as well as work around practicum placements that are not in Regina/Saskatoon. More online electives/core courses would be awesome and help save on gas for commuting students as well as rent on those who choose to live on campus/close to campus. It would be nice for more classes to be offered in Social Work. I don't think students should have to drive to Saskatoon to take classes that are not offered at the U of R. No No No Winter 2015 the faculty of Social Work offered its elective classes in Saskatoon or off campus. As a program of the UofR, the majority of their classes should be offered in regina with the option of televised classes for many of the elective classes. I can not register for a single SW elective because they are either off campus or online. Online is not a substitute for classroom learning and should not be charged the same for a lesser learning experience. book lists asap, list codes for differnt schools so we know what each campus is If there was a way to have the two degrees even if it were in two different faculties would make my class registration a lot easier and less stressful. more knowelged Have more options televised. Don't need to have SW 100 and 202 EVERY semester! no I wish there were more social work electives offered on campus- there are very few that are offered in regina n/a I would like to see if class times conflict with classes that I need for my program Total Responses 30
