ICSG ISTANBUL 2014 2 nd International Istanbul Smart Grid Congress and Exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology with the sponsorship of Turkcell, Vodafone, Ugetam, Sabah and TRT. ICSG will take place in Istanbul Wow Hotel and Congress Center on 8 and 9 May 2014. Over 1500 local and foreign visitors participated in the first International Istanbul Smart Grid Congress and Exhibition (ICSG 2013) which was organized by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology on 9 and 10 May 2013 in Istanbul. Attended by Nihat Ergun, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology and Taner Yıldız, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, ICSG 2013 was unveiled by our Prime Minister Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The 2 nd International Istanbul Smart Grid Congress and Exhibition will gather many expert spokespersons and representatives of the most significant institutions and associations of America, Europe, Asia and Middle East. Besides sharing their own knowledge and experience in the congress, participants will also discuss the importance and necessity of smart grids, their aims and related courses of action. Moreover, it is also aimed to identify the Courses of Action in Smart Grids of our country within the 2023 vision of Turkey and the frame of Smart Grid, Smart Development in ICSG 2014. As is known to all, Turkey is now experiencing a transitional stage to use Smart Grid application like the whole world. During this critical period, parties fully utilizing, producing and distributing energy search for solutions to use energy effectively, rationally and without any loss. Thanks to advanced technology solutions such as information and communication technologies and smart grid, problems about consuming and producing energy are proposed to vanish in time. Therefore current grid systems shall inevitably be subjected to some amendments in order to integrate into this system. Currently, many electricity distribution companies have been involved in this transformation in Turkey having 35 millions of water subscribers, 35 millions of electricity subscribers and 10 millions of natural gas subscribers with a population of 80 millions of people. Consequently, this congress to be held within the transitional stage of Turkey will provide an international platform in order to throw the participants together with all the shareholders, find answers to many questions, teach the latest innovations about smart grids, show sample applications and define investment strategies.
Drawing great attention, the congress will be attended by local and foreign, electricity, water, heating and gas counter production and importing companies, electricity and natural gas distribution companies, organized industrial zones, municipalities, compability assessment bodies, automation firms, examination, testing and calibration bodies, R&D firms, energy generation/transfer/distribution companies, GSM operators, software companies, electric vehicles, smart building companies and related industrial representatives.
