VOLUNTEER WORK I volunteered with the Museum of Zoology of the Faculty of Sciences (2000 2005) in field cour ses,teaching and research, taxidermy, etc. I helped with the academic evaluation of the Science Faculty s academic staff I also helped in gathering data for a physical anthropology research project leadered by Josefina Mansilla PhD. I also did some lab reseatch at the Medicine Faculty at UNAM in a biochemical project of parasitic fungi under the supervision of Haydee Torres PhD. Since 2002 I helped in several research field seasons and with the maintenance and creation of databases both of the osteological and photographic collection of marine mammals inside of the Group of Mastozoología Marina of the Faculty of Sciences, UNAM, where I did my undergraduate and master's degree thesis. Along with my fellow co worker Sandra Smith Aguilar we gave the lecture "Animal communication" to students in first grade of elementary at the Atid school in Mexico City in November 2005. Gave for 3 years the class Bioconservación along with Dr. Rodrigo Medellín and Dr. Gerardo Ceballos in the sciences postgraduate program at UNAM. Collaborates with the spanish version of National Geographic magazine with the translation of texts and as content advisor in several articles. Working with Michael Fishbach and EcoInteractions in an international conservation proposal dealing with blue whales in the Gulf of California. Gave the lecture "Sustainable economy" for students of 2 and 4 semesters of the Economy Faculty at the National Polytechnic Institute in December 2009.

Been interviewed once for the journal REFORMA and once for the TVC channel regarding biodiversity issues. 6. COLLABORATIONS Worked in the SPLASH (Structure of Populations, Levels of Abundance, and status of Humpbacks [1] ), international project in 2005 in the Bahía de Banderas (Nayarit, Jalisco, Mexico) and in 2006 in the Revillagigedo Islands (Colima, Mexico) both in field work as enclosure. Organised in February 2007, along with the Biól. Ma. José Villanueva and at the request of Dr. Rodrigo Medellín, a whale watching trip to the Board of Governors of the Society for Conservation Biology in the Bahía de Banderas (Nayarit Jalisco, Mexico). Actively participates with the National Evaluation Center (CENEVAL) in Mexico City with several tests. Helped in the Lancaster biology field trip for two years now in Punta de Mita, Nayarit (March 2009 and January 2010). Co founder and responsable of the contents of EcoTips (www.ecotips.com.mx) Published in 2009 two pictures in the book "Naturaleza Mexicana" edited by G. Ceballos and collaborators and TELMEX. Colaborates with Michael Fishbach and EcoInteractions in an internacional proposal on conservation in the Gula of California. Along with Gerardo Ceballos PhD and Rodrigo Medellín PhD gave the seminar Bioconservación for three semestres in the Postgraduate Programme Posgrado de Ciencias Biológicas at UNAM. Invited on October 1 st to assess Strategic Innovative Projects (Proyectos Innovadores Estratégicos; PIEs) of the 2010 Call for proposals by the Fondo de Áreas Naturales Protegidas (FANP) and Fondo Mexicano Para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (FMCN). 7. INTERVIEWS (October 2009) for the supplement UNIVERSITARIOS of the REFORMA newspaper for my academic trend and colaboration with the Society For Conservation Biology (SCB). (August 2010) for the El Universal newspaper on the launching of EcoTips. 8. GRANTED SCHOLARSHIPS/SUPPORTS Supported by CONACyT (# 189383) and a DGEP (General Direction of Postgratuate Studies) scholarship since July 2004. CONACyT (#165061) granted me the doctoral scholarship. CSI (Cetacean Society International) have granted me thrice for the development of my doctoral thesis and to attend the 18th Biennial Conference on the Biology of marine Mammals. I got a full scholarship from the UIMP (Menendez Pelayo International University) to attend the course 7th European Seminar on marine Mammals: Biology and Conservation in Valencia Spain. For two years my doctoral project was supported by DEGAPA (UNAM) PAPIIT IN226108. I ve been granted twice the Student Travel Grant by the Society for Marine Mammalogy to assist the 17th and 18th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals. I ve been granted several travel and internship grants from the Postgraduate Programme at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico).
