Page 1 of 15 Motorola MIP 5000 VoIP Radio Console Ship Card General Information *MIP5000 Release 4.2 Now Shipping* MIP 5000 Release 4.2 Features Support for XPR 5550 MOTOTRBO Mobile 48 Channel Support Micosoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit Multi-Touch Monitor Support Dual Channel IRR Support The MIP 5000 VoIP Radio Console is designed to provide customers an affordable solution to transmit dispatch quality voice over their existing Multicast enabled Ethernet network. The MIP 5000 radio console connects up to 100 users with flexible licensing that is available with 1, 4, 8, 12, 24, and 48 channel software options. In addition, up to 128 radio resources can be connected to the network and configured in the Console System Database Manager (CSDM). These configuration files can be saved on each operator position to allow the dispatcher to access & control different combinations of radio resources (up to 48 at a time). MIP 5000 consists of Gateways which connect the radios to the Network and Operator Position components including: MIP 5000 application software, Personal Computer (PC), and Audio accessories. Gateways There are 4 types of gateways available in a MIP 5000 system to interface to radios: Local, Tone, Digital, and MOTOTRBO. Gateways have a one to one relationship to radios. One gateway is required for each radio controlled. Local Gateway L3482 controls radios, typically Mobiles in a Tray, via Microphone and Speaker connection and will support up to 16 frequency select (depending on radio capability). Radio interface cables: Prewired cable for CDM Family DDN6338 Prewired cable for MCS2000 DDN6699
Page 2 of 15 Generic radio cable for use with XTL family DDN6340 (Requires field install of XTL accessory connector) Map universal cable for use with MOTOTRBO/XPR family including Connect Plus PMKN4018 (Requires field install of DB25 for local gateway) Tone Gateway L3483 controls base stations or repeaters with tone control signaling which will support up to 16 frequency select (depending on radio capability) via 600 Ohm lease lines. In addition, the tone gateway will also support E&M signaling. DIU With a tone gateway connected to the 4 wire interface on a DIU, the MIP 5000 can talk/listen, change frequency and, select coded/clear. However, MIP 5000 does not support the ACIM link functionality of the DIU. Digital Gateway L3484 acts as a virtual control head for specific Motorola radios or Consolettes via the SB9600 protocol. MIP 5000 will display the Alias ID if the individual Subscriber is configured to send it. MIP 5000 will provide the dispatcher access to the same number of frequencies the radio is capable of. Mobiles supported are: APX 7500 Mobile in a tray (05 Control Head, Remote Mount) MCS2000 Model III Spectra/Spectra Plus Consolette W9 ASTRO XTL5000 Consolette W9 CDM1550 LS/LS+ - (Requires Remote Kit (RLN4802) and Remote Cable Kit (RKN4077)). For non public safety situations, a MIP 5000 can be placed on an existing customer network. Network
Page 3 of 15 must support multicast addressing and be QoS enabled. For complete network requirements, see Specification Sheet on MOL or WIKI. MIP 5000 Application Software The Channel License configurations available are: 1, 4, 8, 12, 24, or 48. Individual license per operator position is required. Site license is not available. MIP 5000 license activation is accomplished using a Hardware USB Hasp Key at each position. Each USB Hardware Hasp Key is configured for the number of channels purchased. If the USB is removed after activation, the software will continue to function for 10 days with a visible countdown reminder to allow time for key replacement. MOTOTRBO AppServer The MIP 5000 AppServer provides the tools for text messaging and private/group calls on the MOTOTRBO Conversation window. In addition to a texting server, the MOTOTRBO AppServer has a presence server to populate the MOTOTRBO Contacts Window with available MOTOTRBO radio subscribers that report their status. The MOTOTRBO AppServer does not require any additional software to purchase as it comes with every MIP 5000 Software CD. It s recommended to install the MOTOTRBO AppServer on the same PC as the MIP 5000 CSDM/TFTP Server because it needs to have 24/7 availability. Like the TFTP Server, only one AppServer is required per MIP 5000 System. In addition to installing the AppServer, a MOTOTRBO Gateway must be configured to receive MOTOTRBO data. The quantity of MOTOTORBO Gateways needed will depend on your system type. For IP Site Connect Systems, 1 MOTOTRBO Gateway is needed for every repeater and timeslot desired to be simultaneously monitored. For example, a 2 repeater site has 4 timeslots total so 4 MIP 5000 MOTOTRBO Gateways and XPR 4550 Control Stations are needed. Note: Each control station must be programmed with the same MOTOTRBO ID so data can be properly routed to the AppServer. For Capacity Plus Systems with Data Revert, 1 MOTOTRBO Gateway is needed for every voice talk group the dispatcher wants to simultaneously monitor. Also, 1 additional MOTOTRBO Gateway configured for data only is needed for every data repeater in the system. For example, if the dispatcher wants to simultaneously monitor 5 voice talk groups and the system has 3 data revert repeaters, then 8 MIP 5000 MOTOTRBO Gateways and XPR 4550 Control Stations are needed. 5 gateways will be used for voice and 3 gateways (configured for data only) will be used for ARS and Texting. Note: The additional MIP 5000 gateway set to data only mode will allow the subscribers to report their status without interrupting MIP 5000 dispatcher voice communications. The data only gateway will be a hidden resource from the dispatcher and will not count towards the total software license limit (1,4,8,12, 24, or 48). For Capacity Plus Systems without Data Revert, 1 MOTOTRBO Gateway is needed for every talk group the dispatcher wants to simultaneously monitor. For example, if the dispatcher wants to simultaneously monitor 5 talk groups, then 5 MOTOTRBO Gateways and XPR 4550 Control Stations are needed. All 5 gateways are used for both voice and data. Note: Unlike Capacity plus systems with data revert, no additional MOTOTRBO Gateways configured for data only are required to support ARS and Texting. Also, each control station must be programmed with a different MOTOTRBO ID so data can be properly routed to the AppServer. The MOTOTRBO AppServer is not supported on Connect Plus Systems, this is a limitation of the Radio. Personal Computer (PC) It is highly recommended that customers intending to use MIP 5000 in Public Safety situations purchase the TT2538 Motorola certified HP desktop computer. If not purchasing a Motorola computer, please see the Specification Sheet on MOL or WIKI for Recommended Minimum Computer Specifications. R04.02.00 supports Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 (32 or 64 Bit) or Windows Professional 8.1 (64-Bit).

Example #2: If Call Director and External Paging are required at the operator position, two Enhanced Jackboxes are required since they use common pins #1 through #3. Speakers: Each MIP 5000 Dispatch Console operator position requires at least two desktop speakers; the select and unselect speakers. Four additional monitor speakers (unselect audio) can be connected to each MIP 5000 Operator Position by a 7.1 soundcard. The 7.1 soundcard supports up to four monitor speakers on the MIP 5000 VoIP Radio Console in addition to a select speaker and unselect speaker. Call Director: The Call Director feature on the Enhanced USB Jackbox allows one headset to be used for both telephone and radio. The telephone must be 4 wire, 600 ohm with off-hook sense. (typical phone used with E9-1-1 ) The Call Director feature is supported for both the operator and supervisor headsets. The primary headset (operator) works in the full-duplex mode and the secondary headset (supervisor), works in half-duplex mode. Call Director also supports patching with a radio channel / conversation. External Paging Encoder Input: External Paging Encoder allows access for an External Encoder device. Analog Recorder Port: Analog Recorder port provides access for analog logging recording for the operator position. PTT Whenever the Op position does a PTT, a relay closure occurs. For example this relay can be used to activate an ON- THE-AIR light. MDC Emergency Alarm Output When an inbound emergency is decoded by a local or tone gateway the MDC Emergency Alarm output relay will close at the operator position. This option can be used to activate a buzzer or light to notify the operator of an emergency condition. Recording Solutions Instant Recall Recorder (IRR) The Instant Recall Recorder (IRR) software with MIP 5000 allows users to record audio digitally on the MIP 5000 Operator position. Analog recording at the radio is accomplished by bridging the connection between the gateway and radio. When installing an analog recording device with a MIP 5000 digital gateway a Digital Junction Box L3208 is required. When installing an analog recording device with a MIP 5000 local gateway a Local Junction Box DDN6337 is recommended. With an Analog Logging Recorder, gateways and radios must be co-located with the recorder. Analog Recording of select and/or unselect audio at the operator position is accomplished by using the auxiliary port on the enhanced jackbox (DDN9493). Ordering Other Elements 1. Jackbox, Headsets, Microphone and Footswitch should be ordered as separate line items. The CDN6673 speakers are commercial off the shelf items and can be substituted if desired. 2.
