Accessing Your Office 365 Account 1. Open a web browser (Chrome is recommend) 2. Go to https://portal.office.com 3. Enter your Office 365 credentials at the Sign in screen 4. Our domain in Office 365 is @adsb.ca. Your username and password remain the same. a. Username: username@adsb.ca (same username with @adsb.ca at the end) b. Password: (Services password--same password you log in to the Board computers) 5. This is your Office 365 homepage. From your homepage, you will have access to online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Calendar, People (Contacts), Newsfeed and OneDrive. If you are currently familiar with Word, Excel, or Power Point in Office 2010 or 2013, the Ribbon interface (menu of tabs and icons) will be familiar. Outlook - Your Office 365 Email Account 1. After accessing your Office 365 account, click on the Outlook icon 2. This is your Outlook mail. The window is divided into 3 panes. a. Folder navigation pane on the left b. Mail pane displaying emails in the centre c. Reading pane on the right 3. Composing a New Mail message in Outlook a. Click on New mail and compose your email to the right (Note: The WorldClient email service [@email.adsb.on.ca] will be available for 2014/2015 during this transition period) A l g o m a D i s t r i c t S c h o o l B o a r d P a g e 4
Calendar - Your Office 365 Events Calendar 1. After accessing your Office 365 account, click on the Calendar icon 2. Create a New event in Calendar A l g o m a D i s t r i c t S c h o o l B o a r d P a g e 5
All the functionality described for Word in the following pages can be applied to Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote Word 1. After accessing your Office 365 account, click on the Word icon 2. A new Word Online document will open 3. Click in the top where Document is displayed to rename the file a. Office 365 automatically saves the document. If you don t rename the file, you will end up with many files named Document 1, Document 2, etc. 4. There is no Save button as Word Online automatically saves to your OneDrive 5. Editing a Document in Word 1. Open the Word document from your OneDrive 2. Click Edit Document and either select Edit in Word or Edit in Word Online a. Edit in Word will automatically download the document and open in Office 2013 if you have Office 2013 installed on the computer b. Sharing a Word Document (Collaboration) 1. Open the Word document from your OneDrive 2. Click Edit Document and either select Edit in Word or Edit in Word Online 3. Click on the Share icon on the upper right 4. Enter the email address of the people you wish to share the document with and set the edit permission 5. Click Share and an automatic email will be sent from you to the people you invite. The shared document will appear as a link in their OneDrive Shared with me folder. 6. When sharing a document, the people invited will be visible (coloured icon) when they are working on the document at the same time. 7. Click on Review and Show Comments to type comments and view other s comments a. Comment pane on the right of the document A l g o m a D i s t r i c t S c h o o l B o a r d P a g e 9
8. Highlight the text in the document and then post a comment 9. You can also Reply to a comment 10. If the action to delete the commented text is applied, the comment will be deleted as well A l g o m a D i s t r i c t S c h o o l B o a r d P a g e 10
OneDrive for Business - Your ADSB Office 365 Cloud Storage 1. After accessing your Office 365 account, click on the OneDrive icon 2. OneDrive is the Office365 cloud storage solution. One Drive provides 1 TB of storage 3. Upload, download, create folders, organize and manage files 4. Other files can be uploaded and stored in your OneDrive (i.e. pdf s, media files) to make them accessible anywhere you go. 5. 6. Upload documents or files by clicking from your OneDrive 7. Browse for the file and click Open to upload 8. Manage all your files and folder in your OneDrive by clicking on a. 9. Edit Properties - Select a document and click on to view and modify the people it is shared with and the permissions 10. Shared with Everyone Any and all documents saved to this folder will be accessible to anyone in our organization who view your Profile. All staff and students will be able to view and copy the contents of this folder. Exercise extreme caution when saving information to this folder. 11. Share documents by creating a link using the Get a link feature and send the link to others 12. Click on Shared with me to view files others have shared with you.
