Microsoft Lync 2013 Ignite Lab 06: Experiencing Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Collaboration Features During this lab, you will test and verify the new collaboration features of Microsoft Lync 2013. You will have various online meetings with Lync 2013 and Lync 2010 users to see the different features offered to each type of user. You will see the collaboration features that the Office Web Apps (WAC) server role provides. Estimated time to complete: 45 minutes Before You Begin To complete this lab, you need to have completed Labs 01 through 05. What You Will Learn After completing the exercises, you will be able to: Share a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation by using Lync 2013. See the rich features provided by the WAC server role. Scenario Management would like to experience the new rich features provided by the addition of the WAC server role. You will have multiple conferences between Lync 2013 and Lync 2010 users, which will highlight the new collaboration features of Lync 2013. 1

Lab 06: Experiencing Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Collaboration Features Exercise 1: Experiencing the Office Web Apps Server In this exercise, you will experience the rich new collaboration features provided through the addition of the WAC server role. IMPORTANT: In order to perform all of the steps in this lab, Microsoft Office 2013 on CLIENT01 must not be in an expired state. If it is expired, perform the following steps. 1. Close all Office Products (Lync, Outlook, OneNote, etc.) on CLIENT01. 2. Open an elevated command prompt. 3. Change the directory to c:\program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15 4. Type ospprearm.exe and then press Enter. 5. Restart Lync and start the lab. Tasks 1. Start Lync 2013 on SQL01. a. On SQL01, move the mouse to the bottom-left corner to bring up the Start button. b. Right-click the Start icon, and then click Lync 2013. c. On the First things first prompt, click Ask me later, and then click Accept. d. Close the We are unable to connect right now prompt. e. In Lync 2013, in the Sign in address box, type holly@onprem123.lyncignite.biz and then click Sign In. f. In the Password box, type Password1 and then click Sign In. g. Click Yes to save the sign-in information. Verify that the Holly can successfully log in. 2. Log on to Lync 2013 on CLIENT01, and start Microsoft OneNote 2013. a. On CLIENT01, on the Start bar, click the Lync 2013 icon. b. Close the We are unable to connect right now prompt. c. In Lync2013, click the Status drop down and click Sign Out. d. In the Sign in address box, type bob@onprem123.lyncignite.biz and then click Sign In. e. In the Password box, type Password1 and then click Sign In. f. Click Yes to save the sign-in information. g. Add Holly, John, and Preeda as contacts. 2

In OneNote, next to the Quick Notes tab, click to add a new section. k. Name the new section Lync Meetings. l. Minimize OneNote. 3. Log on to Lync 2010 on CLIENT02. a. On CLIENT02, on the Start bar, click the Lync 2010 icon. b. Verify Preeda is able to log on successfully. c. At any Lync prompts, select the Add to this contact group check box, and then click OK. 4. Have Bob create and attend an ad-hoc conference. a. On CLIENT01, in Lync 2013, hold down the Ctrl key and right-click Holly, and Preeda, and then click Send an IM. b. In the Conversation window, type a short message and then press Enter. 5. Join the Group Conversation on CLIENT02 and SQL01. a. On CLIENT02 and SQL01, join the group conversation. 6. Share a PowerPoint presentation on CLIENT01. a. On CLIENT01, in the Group Conversation window, click the Share Content button and then click PowerPoint. b. In the Share PowerPoint window, browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\1033, click PREVIEWTEMPLATE, and then click Open. Wait as the PowerPoint presentation is uploaded and converted to the WAC server. 7. View the shared PowerPoint presentation on the Lync 2010 client. a. On Client02, in the Group Conversation window, click Accept sharing request. Notice that Preeda has all of the features of a Lync Server 2010 online meeting, such as being able to advance the slides, and edit, markup, and save the slides. 8. View the shared PowerPoint presentation on the Lync 2013 client. a. On SQL01, in the Group Conversation window, click Accept Meeting Content. Notice the shared PowerPoint presentation and the features available to Lync users. b. In the upper-right corner of the shared PowerPoint window, click the Annotations button to open the toolbar that shows the editing options. 3

Lab 06: Experiencing Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Collaboration Features c. In the lower-right corner of the shared PowerPoint window, notice the THUMBNAILS and NOTES buttons. d. Click the NOTES button and view the notes of each slide. e. To advance the slides, click THUMBNAILS. Figure 1: Thumbnail view of shared PowerPoint presentation f. Click the arrows to advance through the slides. g. At the top of the Conversation window, click Return to Presenter s View. h. Click the IM button to hide the IM window and show just the presentation. i. Click the People button to change the roster view. j. Notice who is Video Capable and who is not. 9. Take Private Notes. a. On CLIENT01, in the Conversation window, move the pointer over the Share Content button, click the ONENOTE tab, and then click My Notes. NOTE: If you receive a OneNote error trying to locate the meeting notes, verify Office 2013 is not in an expired state. If Office 2013 is in an expired state, refer to the instructions at the beginning of this exercise. b. On the Select Location in OneNote window, expand My Notebook, click Lync Meetings, and then click OK. Notice that OneNote captures the details of the current meeting, which should look similar to the following figure. 4

Click here for download options prompt, and then click Allow Download for All Files. Notice that the shared PowerPoint presentation gets embedded into the OneNote page. d. Back in the Lync conversation window, move the pointer over the Share Content button again, click PRESENT, and then click Whiteboard. e. On the shared whiteboard, have all three conversation participants on all three clients make changes to the whiteboard. f. Back on CLIENT01, click the More options button next to the editing tools, and then click Send to OneNote. g. On the Select Location window in OneNote, expand Quick Notes, expand Lync Meetings, click My Meeting Notes, and then click OK. Notice that the whiteboard now shows in the OneNote page captured earlier. h. Close OneNote. i. Close the Group Conversation on all three clients. 5
